I don't know if that applies outside of the web interface for Gmail, though, like when you receive messages from Gmail by POP or IMAP. If it applies to Gmail received either of those two ways, and if the questioner is using Gmail that way, then I would go to the web interface and find that setting to make sure it's turned off. I'm not saying it *should* have been, just that many would have checked this most central of pages, in the most common adblockers. More importantly, this would have been much less of a problem, at least for me, if the compulsory footer was not quite so eager to "nudge" us towards the website. But enough of this. What is the difference between a Hashtag and a Subject in emailThe Subject in an email is a text field typically containing about one line of text. The Subject field is a header field. Along with To, From, and Date it is one of the fields most commonly displayed by email user interfaces. In Groups.io, a hashtag is a word or unspaced phrase within a Subject, prefixed by a # symbol ("hash mark", "number sign", ... that character has lots of names). Or as Duane put it: /static/help#hashtags For example: Subject: This #subject has two #hashtags in it Subject: This subject has no # hashtags. I¡¯m not sure if this message should go to group help forum or groupNo problem. There is no clear distinction. GMF's emphasis is on helping group managers, but neither group enforces a distinction between management topics and member topics. When they have contacted their technical support people for mymts.netThe full message isn't available, but the members can look up the response code that mymts.net gave when they bounced the message. There are two places they can find it: Go to your Account and have a look at the Recent Bounces page. Go to your Subscription page (in any group) and look in the Email Delivery History tab. The Subscription page will have information about bounced messages from that particular group; the Account page will have information about all of the messages sent to the user. The error code and text given in the Reason column should be enough information for the support people to go on. when she tries to subscribe to our IO list she gets a bounce messageIf she's trying to send a message to your group's +subscribe address, Duane's suggestion to have her try joining from your group's home page (on the web site) might sidestep the problem. Another thing you could try is sending her an Invitation to the group. She can accept the invitation either by replying to it via email, or by clicking on a link to the web site. Either might work. Hi, I am a member of several groups I o lists and when I send aThe problem may have more to do with your email service provider than with your software, but just in case make sure you check any spam/junk filters or settings Outlook may have. I don't use Outlook so I'm not sure, but it is possible that it sees a message coming back to you claiming to be from you and it decides that's not legit. The same thing can happen with your email service provider. Ones powered by Microsoft (Outlook.com, Hotmail, and others) also tend to filter out messages returning to you that claim to be from you (but were actually delivered to them by a different service, in this case Groups.io). The bouncing message is unnecessary and irritating, It is quite commonI concur. This annoyance has largely trained me not to approve by email anymore. I'll admit there are some good parts about that. One is that I get to see if any co-mods have claimed a message. Another is that if there's more messages the next one opens automatically and it takes just one more click to handle it. A Third is that I get to see the list of pending messages - sometimes a member will post a message then post an immediate retraction. So seeing two messages in a row in the same topic from the same member is a red flag to go read them all before approving the first.
