Sorry, I'm thinking I wasn't very clear. ;)

I'm the owner of the group, and I have only one account.?I have my subscription set to "Full Featured Digest". Yet every time someone posts, I get an email as if I am set to "Individual Messages".? No one else is having this problem.

Obviously I have two email addresses - my owner address ([email protected]) and my regular email address (soandso@...). So I am wondering if this has something to do with me being the owner as opposed to a regular subscriber and whether the settings are different for one vs. the other.?

This capability was taken away after spammers "found" groups.io and things started to get out of hand. Letting spammers use groups.io as a means to get their messages out is a very undesirable situation for everyone. Forcing group owners to select at least one of the Spam Control settings seemed like a small price to pay to avoid getting the whole domain blacklisted.

If you don't want to do any moderating it might be a little easier to make the group Restricted and just approve the applicants instead of their messages. Your mileage may vary.

Great info.? Thanks.? In Yahoo, my files = 0, Photo Albums = 106mgb, and there is only 1 photo in that Photomatic¡± thing so I should be OK with the 1gb .IO limit on the free plan (will be upgrading to Premium once the Board confirms IO as a replacement for Yahoo).

Go to your Yahoo group logged on as Owner. If you open the Files area there should be a line at the top that says "using xxx bytes of maximum yyyMB" (or whatever). The way you're doing it, that person will never have a message moderated.? If a problem such as a flame war comes up, you'd have to change each member to keep them from posting.? A better way is to go to your group settings, scroll down to the Spam Control section, and turn off the New Users Moderated box.? If you have 2 accounts, one for owner and one for member, then each will have separate settings on the Subscription page.

It may be that your service is set to permit postings by individuals, but only after the first message has been moderated.? I am in this situation, also.? -When a new person joins, I must manually allow this person to post.

Sign in, go to ADMIN, then MEMBERS;? Look for the new member, click on the (??-I forgot) button, then scroll down to see the several options for this person.? Click on the second option from the top of this short list of about five at the end of the settings for this individual.?

I have found that I must do this each and EVERY time that I get a new member that has joined!? I had read earlier that the .io was allowing all messages, without moderation, yet I must moderate every new member!?

How can I set my group to allow all members to post as soon as they join?? (Maybe I am misinterpreting the basic setup; I am able to manage OK, but it was a surprise to me.)? (!!)

This 3rd one is the only one I need and you can ignore the other two.
Please be aware that GMF is a user-to-user help group. There are no Groups.io employees reading this list.

Your comment should be directed to [email protected] instead.

But before you do that, if you see the same Yahoo Group listed more than once in the "In Process" list (and I'm not certain that's possible) you might want to check each in turn and cancel the requests you don't want.

It very well could be.

Free groups are limited to 1 GB of server storage (see?/static/pricing?).? Large Yahoo groups may have more than that in stored files and photos.?If so, the transfer agent will stop your transfer and send you an email asking you what you want to do.

The first thing I would do is go to Yahoo and check your file and photo allocations. If it looks like you could be over the limit, look for this email in your inbox and/or follow up with support.

How do I know that I'm done?

  • The transfer agent will send you an email telling you that. This email will also tell you what it was able to transfer (and often, what it was not)
  • If you're over the storage allocation limits, the agent will stop and send you an email asking you what you want to do.

Users will indeed need to change the URL in their bookmarks. The email address is also changed, so they will also have to update the group address in their email client. Also, any links to group content that appear in the message archive or in previously-received emails will now point to never-never land (404 not found).

Hi Albert,

The following is based on a PC running Windows 10 using Firefox for my browser.

I think you are seeing the Pending Approval list. When you click on the Member button on the left menu, it opens to "Pending Approval." If you click on "Pending Approval," the drop down menu has "Members" as the first item. When that opens, the "Download" button is in the same place to the right as on the "Pending Approval" page.

After you click download, it produces a text list of your members, including the attributes. Right click on the list and select "Save Page As." It will open the save window with the file name memberlist.csv. Save it and use Excel to open. Do not save it as a text file because it is a mess to straighten out; don't ask how I know!

I Co-Own a Genealogy list and we have a blind member who uses a screen reader. He has been able to navigate our site, including a searchable database we have outside of Groups.io. I'm very impressed by the technology. He is using JAWS (Job Access With Speech) which is produced in the USA by Freedom Scientific.
