If you click open someone's member record, there's a pull-down "Membership" menu where you can select "+owner messages." This will display a sorted list of every one they've ever sent, with the most recent first. Note: Until about a year ago, this page was accessed via a button, not a menu.
?
?
Of course, you have to know who sent it to do this. To retrieve a single, recently-sent message, clicking the link in the corresponding activity log entry might be easier than trying to hunt down their member record.

So you found the message in Admin - activity. And now click on the message - the subject - to open it up. You can read and reply from there.

Question: +owner messages

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hi,

?

It's probably been asked and answered, but where do I find the +owner messages? I received the message in my ¡°Outlook inbox¡±, but when I look in the groups.io online WEB page, the only place I find any reference to the post is under Admin->activity.

I¡¯m sure I¡¯m doing something wrong; please point me in the right direction.

?

Thanks,

Ken S.

I suggest you have one last talk with the group Owner. He may have given you additional Moderator permissions in the intervening period -- specifically, the "Set Member Subscription Options" permission.

Merging accounts fails to reassign any old content (messages, files, photos, even group ownership) to the new email address.* Thus I would not recommend that.

Re: My account keeps on bouncing

It is likely your email provider that is causing it.

Is there a solution from the Groups.IO side or is this something I have to take up with my email provider (not likely to get resolved soon if it's on their end).

That should work.? They should also be able to merge accounts if needed, though that sometimes causes problems.

Re: Member Display Name Change?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Yes, Bruce, this IS a subgroup.? I went to the main group as well and the edit was disallowed there too.? The group OWNER couldn't edit it.

Okay, belay that.? I'm not sure what I did last time now, but THIS time when I tried to edit the display name in the parent group, it DID allow me to make the edit.? I've no idea why I couldn't do this the first time.? Okay, I get that it can't be done in a subgroup, which is where I first tried, but I also tried the parent group, and neither group allowed me to change the name.? THIS time, it did.? And I did remember to hit the "Save" button.? ;-)

I got nothing.? No idea where it went sideways.? Thanks for pointing out that subgroups aren't the right place to make this change.? Noted.

Is this in a subgroup? You cannot change Display Name there...you have to make the change in the main group.

Re: Member Display Name Change?

If you would re-read the post, you'll see that I could NOT edit the entry; it ignored all attempts to edit the name.? To save it would have just saved what was already there, which I was not allowed to change.? I fully understand that edits need to be confirmed, and have done so on many occasions, but this edit was disallowed, which is the root of my question.

I shot her an email outlining the steps needed to make the change herself, but it leaves me with a question: why was I (and the group owner) unable to make this change?

In checking the Group Owner's manual, it clearly says in section 11.2, third bullet down, "Owners and moderators can edit the Display Name field in individual members¡¯ records (but be aware that members can change their own display names as mentioned above)."?

Either that's not completely correct, something has been changed and the manual hasn't caught up yet, or we're both doing something wrong.? I never bothered to click the "Confirm" button at the bottom of the page, since I couldn't do anything to make the last name letters go away; there was no visible edit TO confirm.? Is this where I went wrong in failing to bring about the requested change?

Thanks for any clarification you can provide!
