Perhaps Mark might consider a method to right click on the file in the message and allow it to be saved in Files, perhaps allowing it to be put in a specific folder? I'm sure he'd entertain this - and I would support it - but there may be a practical difficulty of some kind. The same thing has occasionally been asked of Emailed Photos (read: photo attachments), which also require a preliminary download to move them to another album. For some reason that I don't understand, the notion has never gotten a whole lot of traction.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSteve, Duane and all:
Thank you all for your thoughtful responses. I was afraid?that was the only answer. I haven't had problems downloading PDF files, but I was hoping for a simpler method of sending a copy to the Files area rather than having to save it to a hard drive first?and then resave it to the group Files. Perhaps Mark might consider a method to right click on the file in the message and allow it to be saved in Files, perhaps allowing it to be put in a specific folder?

Having read the previous responses and being a member of Dano's MILW list I took a look at this. As others have suggested, there does not appear to be a way to directly move the pdf in ??????? question to the group files folder. However, as Dano's end goal is to "put into the files somewhere", here's a solution that achieves Dano's desired result: 1)????? Locate the message online in the group. a)????? Then either, i)????? Right click on the PDF, ii)???? Click on ¡°Save Link As¡±, iii)??? Select the location on your system to D/L to, iv)???? Consider changing the name back to something useful (Windows seems to want to save as giving the file a guaranteed unique file name. v)????? Save the file. b)????? Or, i)????? Double click on the pdf in the e-mail, ii)???? When the PDF opens in Adobe, click on the download icon, iii)??? Specify where to D/L and give it a good file name again if needed, and iv)???? Short answer, no.? Albums are one level deep, though you can sort within them by Name, Posted, or Taken.? I doubt that will help much.
?
The default sort for albums is by Created, newest first.? Emailed photos is always first though.? If you change your sort order, the site will remember the next time you go there.? However, each person can choose the order they want and there's no way to force one.

If you¡¯re on the page of a message tap and hold the link icon at the upper right next to the date (this is on the iOS version):

Nesting Photo Albums, Photo Album 'sorting', and more...
Nesting Albums: Is there any way that you know of to 'nest' Photo Albums? I don't see anything in Help that addresses this. I don't really want to open my Photos tab to look through 50 'Albums' to find one, or two, or five that are of the same genre, but different - like "Reunion Pictures 2022, Reunion Pictures 2023, Reunion Pictures 2024" mixed in with "trucks" and "cars", etc. I want to be able to create a "Special Teams" Album (and others) with Sub-Albums: HazMat, Dive/Swiftwater/Inlet Rescue, High-Angle, Wildland-Urban Interface Fire, etc.

Sorting/Fixing (anchoring) the location/sort order of Albums: Another, complementary item is how to 'Organize' the Photo Albums. I don't see any way to 'fix their position' in the index. "Emailed Photos" is "always the first Album", but I want to organize the folders in a Numerical/Alphabetical way, and have them stay that way - yet be able to insert a new Album into the mix at a specific location in the view. The provided Sort params do not meet my needs. I want to Lock them in a specific order.
?
- i.e. I do NOT want (the) Station 10 Album to sort in front of Stations 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. I also don't really want to use a naming convention like Station 01,02, etc.
Also, for example, I want the Shop, and Dispatch Album after all of the Stations. These are currently in here in a random order, not consistent with the order I created them.

Thanks for the use of your brain cells. |
Re: Admin/Owner is Locked Out
So a couple months ago, I had a problem like this for another user. My recommendation, is if your group is a premium group, I recommend contacting Mark and letting him know the issue. I would probably go through the beta group to do this, though, since you can't get back into that account. And he will change the email address for you. I had to have him do this for somebody else that got locked out of their Gmail account and had a slew of groups that needed to be moved. And we had no way of getting back into the account. We had the process done in about four days of communication.

They're stored as part of the message.? They're not separate like photos.? There is no easy way to remove a pdf attachment, you'll always end up going to the message and editing it out.? If you hover on the attachment name in the message, the URL will be groupname/attachment/message#/sequential#/filename.? In the attachments list, it just points you to the message.? (That may not make much sense to you unless you're a computer nerd. ;>)

Oddly you can only find PDF attachments with the post. At least I don¡¯t see them anywhere else. If you mentioned PDF in the post itself, you can find it by search. But if it is simply attached to an email. no dice. I looked to see if there was an auto hashtag. Nope. Not in Photos nor in Files. I happen to have a recent PDF attachment in one of my smaller groups for trying to track this down. Btw the PDF opens just fine. If it is elsewhere I¡¯d love to know. Re: Bouncing emails
#bouncing
The system will automatically send them bounce probes every 3 or 4 days for 2 weeks. So I give them that much time. Then I typically send them an email. If that bounces I remove them, if it doesn't I send a few more bounce probes and then remove them if they don't unbounce themselves. It also depends on the reason given for the bounce. Some are things like "account doesn't exist" and those I would remove. Others are things like "mailbox full" which in theory could be fixed. Those I give more time to be dealt with.

I believe you can just change the status of the member to owner.

If you select "moderator" you can select individual permissions but "owner" grants everything. An owner granted me ownership before he passed away and I'm now running his group.? I just granted ownership to others in several groups I owned as backup.? I have known of groups which have become orphaned when the owners refused to grand co-ownership then passed away and decided my groups were more important than just me. Do you have a person willing to take over as owner? (And I strongly suggest you need two owners. Either you stay on as co-owner or look for two.) ?
Once you have people willing to do it, go to Admin, Members. Find the names and open their record by clicking. Where it says Role, open the menu. Change to Owner. Scroll down and save.
Then do the next one, if you need two more.
?
You can keep yourself as owner - just to safeguard all your work! - but you can change your subscription to receive fewer messages. Perhaps Special Notices Only - click on Subscription on your group homepage - in the menu headed Home. ?Change your delivery preference and scroll down to save.
