True -if added to the group as a separate account-, but if you had a paid*** group you could direct-add her so no confirmation email would be sent out. (*** or setup an integration as Bruce mentioned) But the alias part is no worry, there are no confirmation emails sent to an alias since it's not a regular account but just a nickname, so no group emails or whatnot will ever go to that alias. Aliases just allow someone to post something from a different email address but when posted it looks like it came from the main address, not the alias. All group messages (if this account was setup to receive them) would go to the main address, not the alias. I dont know how to create an alias. I did some searching but didnt find it. That info would be in the User manual, not the Owner manual, it's in here. You need to be logged in as her, go to the upper right of screen where the account settings are, all the way down click on Aliases, add the address and save. Cheers, Christos |

Re: How do I DELETE a Sub-Group and all of its parts?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWhew! I did it. You led me to the wording and then to the place I needed to be. I did, however, comment before I did it ¨C and I did it with great reluctance. The button I clicked (as you told me) read ¡°DELETE GROUP¡±!!! But¡this was a SUB GROUP. That was an uneasy feeling. I commented that, in this case the button should read ¡°DELETE SUBGROUP¡±. I've never found a use or need for subgroup categories but there is some documentation in the Owner's Manual. ? Regards Andy |

How do I DELETE a Sub-Group and all of its parts?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI¡¯ve looked through HELP. I¡¯ve viewed (and attempted) the ¡°Using subgroups¡±, ¡°overview¡±, ¡°creating a subgroup¡±, and ¡°Using subgroup categories¡± sections. ? I had a specific function ¨C a ¡®50th Anniversary on the job¡¯ party/discussion for one group member. With your help, I figured out how to create a subgroup and exclude that single member of the group from that subgroup, then open the entire topic up to the rest of the group ¨C allowing those who didn¡¯t want to be involved to ¡®opt out¡¯ of that subgroup. THAT worked amazingly well. I can easily see using this procedure to set up ¡®working groups¡¯ for projects, etc. But don¡¯t want to end up with 2, 10, 50 or more subgroups that no longer have any function or use. ? Now the event is past. And there¡¯s no reason to keep/archive/continue the subgroup or its contents ¨C messages, etc. I just want to Delete the entire subgroup, all of its contents, messages and such. But I don¡¯t see a way to dump it all. ? BTW, I don¡¯t really understand/comprehend the ¡°subgroup category¡± unit or purpose. ? In advance, thanks. ? ? -- Dan Tucker, Groups.io ?AFDRetiree¡¯s Group and AFSMA Group Founder/Owner/Moderator (907) 863-1313 |
Re: groups.io will not accept a group's member's e.mail forward from gmail
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýBut then why do a number of my other gmail forwarders created several years ago STILL work? they were done in the same way. 1. create groups.io member with gmail address, 2. at gmail accept groups.io auth, 3. change groups.io member's email to "none" (to prevent loop), 4. change gmail to forward to groups.io, 5. accept the gmail confirmation ??? something must be broken... regards rich On 10/8/24 5:08 PM, Bruce Bowman via

Re: groups.io will not accept a group's member's e.mail forward from gmail
Yes, forwarders will often mangle the sending address. And much of the reason for that is specifically to avoid dupe loops.
?
The best way to get this to work reliably is to set up an integration address in your group p7j3q9k5 and forward messages to that address instead.?
?
?
Please note that integrations are a feature of paid groups.

groups.io will not accept a group's member's e.mail forward from gmail
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSome time ago I migrated all of my owned groups to groups.io from google groups.A new group I created recently I have spent enormous hours on this trying all kinds of settings to get a gmail forward to work to no avail. I created and own a group /g/p7j3q9k5 in order to distribute email from my 95 year old mother who has great difficulty using the computer. I created her [email protected] membership using her gmail mhcgfx1b9j@... I then set her groups.io setting to NOT receive any email from
the group. Because it is intended to be only one way from her to
group members AND to not create a forwarding loop. I have done
this many times before with other groups. Next I go to her gmail account settings and select forward to the group [email protected] I auhorize with her gmail associated phone. What happens next is groups.io rejects the gmail-sent confirmation email reporting one of the following two errors: 1. 510 5.1.1 Your email address, mhcgfx1b9j+caf_=p7j3q9k5=group or 2. 510 5.1.1 Your email address, forwarding-noreply@..., is not subscribed to that group. To subscribe, send an email to [email protected], or visit /g/p7j3q9k5 One has no control over what gmail sends when one requests to do a forward! Also, I have a number of groups.io groups whereby I have used gmail addresses to be forwarded to groups.io!! BUT this was done some time ago yet ALL are still working!! The above 2 errors happened under different circumstances while
attempting to get the gmail to forward. The first was the
initial attempt. That was AFTER gmail accepted the initial
request to forward to [email protected].
gmail was happy. EXCEPT when an email came in to mhcgfx1b9j@...
it would perform the forward to [email protected]
BUT it would use the "decorated" email mhcgfx1b9j+caf_@...
which subsequently groups.io would reject because mhcgfx1b9j was
the member and NOT mhcgfx1b9j+caf_ !!! The second was just now where I deleted the gmail forward and attempted to re-establish the SAME forward. This time gmail used the strange address forwarding-noreply@... which also is not a member. How did gmail forwarding to groups.io EVER work? Did gmail change something recently that broke this? I have attached a screenshot showing a number of log entries pertaining to both of these conditions. I am at Witt's End to make what should be a trivial gmail forward to groups.io work for my elderly mother! Also, I have found almost NOTHING on vast web searches on this topic! A related one is here Please help! thanks rich painter ![]()

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýCan you please tell me what this header means? Is the message delayed 16 hours BEFORE it gets to groups.io.... or is it held up for 16 hours at groups.io before it is delivered to my In Box? Thanks Win |

It would be useful if the owner checked:
- the person's account - In Admin, Members.?
?
What does the activity history say, the email delivery history?
?
-Clarify whether that the member receives email from the group and to that address
- Clarify whether the member can log into the group (perhaps using Email Me A Link To Log In).
- When they are logged in, ask them to check their own subscription - their settings, their delivery history.
- I think the owner said that the member can send messages to the group from the group homepage. And that the problem is sending to the group from their email.
?
- Ask them what email program the member is using. What device, etc. What email service.?

Re: Member can only post from site - something about her address?
I know this may be a longshot, however ..... above and beyond it saying to add a subject line, if they are continuing to be blocked from posting (etc), is it possible they had/have one of those addresses that needed to be verified earlier this year and they didn't (for whatever reason) so the end result is that that particular email address is blocked from current/future activity?? How long has this person been experiencing being blocked?
