I am the owner of two groups. If you're the owner, the only difference will be that you get the blue Owner badge and the Admin menu. A recently created free group doesn't have Files or Calendar etc. so you won't see a menu with those options. See the features page for a list of what's included for the different plans now.? Older (legacy) free groups have more features so you get more menu options. Regards Andy |

Re: groups.io email threads vs. "forums" with organized topics
While I am sure that Bruce's advice is the best way forward for you, I just wanted to point out that you can require hashtags and you can make it so only the owner / moderator creates hashtags. That might get closer to what you want if you stayed with Groups.io
Mark does this in Beta group. See also: ?/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/managing-hashtags Frances -- Help available from Groups.io help and GMF wiki. ? |

groups.io email threads vs. "forums" with organized topics
Hello,? I don't think this is possible with eternity.io but I wanted to check.
The "search" capability for messages is really great and the archiving of messages is great.? Our eternity.io group runs like our old Yahoo group with emails in 'threads' which are archived, so that one can search the archive and pull up messages relating to a topic.? However on the internet there are also groups which have a structure to their forum and members can post messages to a pre-established general topic? or to established sub-topics below.? ? ?There are pluses and minuses? ?and I don't pretend to know all the pros and cons but the structured approach more easily allows one to visualize all the topics which have been discussed and to put a new topic into the right "bucket".? ? ? ?Does eternity.io have that capability?? ? ? Our group started as conversational but is gradually evolving towards repeated discussion of some topics.? ? I think that within the structure we now have we can make something like an index with the wiki, putting links to messages, but looking for something easier. Thank you for any suggestions! |

Hello everyone My take, as a software developer, is that no system is ever complete (or ever bug free), it is an asymptotic approach to perfection. Taking the route suggested above leads to just freezing the codebase and only doing the occasional bug fix. That way lies a slow death. So, the more of a "one stop shop" GIO is, the better, in my book. Best, Glenn P.S. I don't consider Zoom's chat features to be particularly powerful, especially as compared to something like Slack or even Discord. --

Hello everyone
There are lots of things that could be improved but I think we have to consider that GroupsIO is primarily a platform for online communities and the price we pay for it. It also has a Chat feature but do we expect that to be as powerful as Zoom? Just my take on it |
Re: Uploading and Downloading Multiple Files from Files/Photos Section
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAs was stated already, you cannot move more than one, but since your message subject also included "Uploading", there's a sideways method to move more than one file from Files (either dispersed or within a folder) into a single Photo Album. You export the Files, unzip and keep only the ones you want to move, arrange them as desired, then grab all the pertinent photos to a specific album and upload them at once into it, since you can upload more than one photo at a time into an album. Two considerations, you'll need to manually add any description text to the uploaded photos if the Files entry had one, and also manually delete the originals from Files. And one issue you'll run into, the owner will now be you (or whoever does this), not the original uploader/owner, but that can be changed to the original owner albeit one photo at a time.
