re delayed message
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI sent a message to my group 12 hours ago, it has not yet appeared
on the web site nor in my In Box. I thought that once I was away from Yahoo, delayed messages would
be a thing of the past... lol.. How can I find out what caused the delay... other private emails I
sent at the same time were delivered... and there has been new messages (from
other people) in the message list since? sent mine. Win |

Re: spoofing
Marvin,
?
The potential for mischief, and worse, by way of spoofing is one of the stated reasons that Y!GMF has always had a 100% moderation policy.
On the other hand, spoofing someone else's address has become more difficult, and rarer, in the last 10-15 years or so as most email services have tightened up their policies regarding sending messages with an alternate From address. But a person intent on mischief most likely can still find a way.
I don't know to what extent Groups.io's incoming message process is locked down against spoofed messages, but I don't think I've seen any myself in any of my group's Pending or Messages. There are techniques to cut down on spoofing (such as SPF and/or DKIM authentication) but the more of that Groups.io does the more it runs the risk of rejecting legitimate members' messages.
?
?
Whenever minors are involved the group's moderators need to be particularly vigilant about message content. If a moderator him/herself is a minor that's a difficult position, as then he/she is generally exposed to whatever comes the group's way. Same as the minor's email address.

Re: Who Can View And Modify Databases
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI would only like the owner and moderators to create the columns in the databases, but would like the owner, moderator, and members to be able edit the information in the rows. ? In admin/settings/databases, I have it set for Subscribers can view, moderators can create tables. ? At Edit Table/Modify Table of the database I have View Table =Members, Edit Table=Moderator and table owner, Add Rows= Moderator and table owner, Edit Rows=Members . ? Am I accomplishing what I would like to do? ? Don |
Re: 1 GB limit and removing stuff to make more room?
On YG the list owner can see how much storage is devoted to files
and photos, messages are NOT counted against storage on either group. On YG click on "Photos", then Albums and the size will be displayed KEN "It has always seemed strange to me," said Doc. spoofing
Marvin Hunkin
Hi. A friend of mine had to close down hi his group, because ?person, got hold of the owners address, and hacked his e-mail and group. So he then opened another group, and has got three moderators, and his group is restricted and private, but he may have got tools off the net how to do this. Is there a way, he is banned by the admins. Is there any way to stop him from hacking the group or the owners gmail address. Or is locked down moderated status the way to go. A owner of another group, has the same issue a few weeks back and he had it in moderated status, some one was spoofing, sending vile and vulgar messages, pretending to be the owner and members. Same has happened to this person group, he shut it down, then created a new one, but the banned member, still sent nasty, vile, vulgar messages to his gmail and the group. So he is going to get his dad and the police involved. This is cyber bullying. Any thoughts, ideas, any one had this happen to any owners or admins,as one of the admins on the group. Thanks. Re: Who Can View And Modify Databases
That would depend on how the database is set up.? There are several permissions that can be set at that time. /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Databases

When you say it is a 'total storage limit' does that include plain messages without any attachments? In other words, in my case I am thinking of moving a discussion group that dates back to 2006. There are a lot of messages without any attachments that in total I am certain would easily go over 1 G. To keep these old messages, that don't have attachments, would I then have to pay for more space? Stan On 2/15/2018 3:03 PM, SP4149 wrote:

At the bottom of this screen, there is a link to Plans. And at the bottom of that page, it says what counts in your storage limit. And it shows what the storage limit is if you pay for an account.?

Re: re wiki
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi ? I think it is like a webpage where you can put information that can be useful to the group, it is like a website in itself. ? Regards Adrien ? Skype with me on adriencollins06 ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Jackie Preval via Groups.Io ? if you set up a wiki page to store something does that mean it then doesnt take space up on group so keeps your storage down, may sound silly but wasnt sure what wiki was for |
Re: a new member and some help please
jackiep,
In the Message Policies section of each group's Settings page there's a "Disable No Email" checkbox for group admins that feel the way you do. Of course, the members can still choose Special Notices. ?-- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |
Re: 1 GB limit and removing stuff to make more room?
dankaduna,
... is the 1 GB limit a monthly use limit, or does it mean that all attachments ever posted to a group count towards the limit? ? As ken mentioned it is the total.? His suggestion to set a size limit on the photos (in the Features section of your group's Settings page, under Photos) can go a long way to reducing the storage cost of the photos. Whether that is appropriate in your group might depend on what your members use the photos for. And in that case, how do I delete photo and other attachments so that I don't keep reaching the limit? ? In the Message Formatting section of your Settings page there's an "Out of Space" option that you can set to Delete Old Attachments automatically to make room for new ones. Otherwise I think you end up having to manually delete them from the individual messages.-- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |
