I wonder if anyone has any suggestion or insight on this.

A group gets their emails redirected from an email address to their Groups.io account.?

The group setting is to allow non-members' emails to be moderated rather than rejected - so an email to their email account should be moderated and allowed to be posted on Groups.io once approved.

Sometimes a non-member message is rejected as spam, and not held for moderation.

The addresses we are seeing are all Sympatico email addresses and they all have a dot in their usernames.

Is it possible that Groups.io for non-members uses something like BoxTrapper that looks for country codes.
One case, the email address is w.muxxx@xxxx. The other email address is smiley.m@xxxx
.mu is Mauritius.

I know that Gmail ignores dots in email addresses. I guess Groups.io doesn't. Correct?

Is there anything that they can do to reduce the number of rejected as spam emails??They don't want the non-members to get access to their group; and membership in the group is not an option.

You should be able to do everything you mentioned.? Each subgroup is a separate entity with their own files/photos/etc., so you can have different settings for each.? The only restriction I can think of is that everyone must be a member of the main group before they can be in a subgroup.

I'm considering a Premium plan. I want the main group to be an announcement list, not a discussion list. I also want to be able to create visible and private subgroups. (for discussion). Has this use case been used much for groups.io? Also, wiki pages and files be private to subgroups?

I don't think "perhaps" comes into it!

FWIW the corresponding Note in Working with photos does mention that the album owner may not have enabled others to upload photos.

Thank you Bruce - that was the problem! Now cleared for anyone to upload a file to the folder. There should be no more uploads to this folder now anyway, but I can keep an eye on it!

Margaret -- Files and folders have ownership. Even if regular members can otherwise upload files and create folders in group settings, they will not be able to upload a file into someone else's folder until that is enabled at the folder level (see screenshot).*

Actually, just so I leave this topic clear, turns out after all was said and done the core problem was I had a cache plugin that lazy loaded RSS images - and that made for Broken Images in groups.io

I excluded the "wp-post-image" class in the cache plugin,?and was then able to remove the small aforementioned addon.

The file is not large, less that 500kb and in pdf format. And the group is a premium group.

We are nowhere near the maximum file space allocated for files, using 3% of the space. It seems that some members are not seeing the New/Upload button, while the others don't have a problem. Members have permission create folders and view and upload files.

It's a puzzle!

So you have space, your settings allow it, and you have gone to the folder and clicked update.

Is it a large file?
What format is the file or document?

Also, go to the folder and click on Update next to it to make sure the Folder is set so they can upload.

Check that no one has disallowed it. Go to Admin, Settings. Scroll down to Features. Go to Files and check permissions.

You might double-check to see how much space you are taking - Go to Admin, Upgrade. In Current Plan, you can see your group use.

Chris -- I suggest you do the following:

1. Export the subgroup using the instructions found at?/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/exporting-or-downloading-your-group-s-data/exporting-your-group-s-message-archive-and?
2. In the resulting zip file, locate the file with the .mbox extension. This is the one that contains the messages.
3. Extract this file to the location of your choice
4. Open it as a folder with a suitable email client (Windows 10 Mail and Apple Mail have both been reported to work)
5. Print the folder contents to a PDF
6. Store the PDF in the Files area of your main group.

The above is pretty much what I did to archive old content from Yahoo Groups (before it went defunct).

What Duane said, but are the 17 messages all that important to keep? If the
subgroup has had so little activity, maybe it's not worth bothering.

Assuming you do want to keep them, you could open two browser tabs, and copy and
paste from one tab open to the subgroup's messages, and post new messages into
the main group.

Before you do this, give some consideration to how the messages will be
presented. You can't make them post earlier than the day you're re-posting them,
so as Duane mentioned, they will be out of order as far as time sequence.

Next, consider that you will be shown as the poster of each message, not the
original poster. You can make it clear who was the OP by modifying the subject
line with the sender's name, or adding information at the top of each of those
17 messages, followed by your pasting of the original messages. Do this 17 times
and you've moved the messages to the main group, then delete the subgroup. Or
just lock the subgroup. (The idea here is if you don't like how things turned
out, you can delete the 17 moved messages and start over if you want to present
the messages differently.) I have a few groups where I moved them from Yahoo
Groups and all of the YG posts are in a subgroup that is an announce only group.
I haven't locked them but I could have done that instead. (I wasn't aware of the
locking operation until a recent discussion here.)

You have the option here, if you want to do this, of merging a few messages
together, or putting all 17 messages into one long message, if that is useful to
you.

I mention these things just to get your mind thinking about how things are going
to look from other members' perspectives. You can delete your "moved" posts
(re-posts) from the main group and start over, but if you delete the subgroup
before you're sure you have things the way you want them, you can't go back and
get them from the subgroup later.

No and no.? A subgroup is separate from the main group as far as messages (and most other things) are concerned.? If it's a paid group, you could lock the subgroup so there's no more posting, but retain the messages.? You could resend those messages to the main group, but they wouldn't be sorted by the original time/date and/or sender.

I am also in exactly this circumstance.? I had hoped to import my backed up messages intact into the new sub-group.? No such luck out of the box
