Is there a way to initiate a message using a hastag, and as a Special Notice, but have the Special delivery drop for replies? #hashtaghelp

I've got three hashtag messages set up that include Special Delivery - I want to force delivery of them to all members. But I don't want or need (and they don't want or need) to see any/all of the replies to the original notices - they can elect to join the message if they want to keep up on it.
Is there a way to set up a #hashtag that can self-delete the Special Delivery component once it has been sent out?
I don't see anything in the Manual that seems to address this.

Note: I'm NOT wanting to Mute the Topic at any time or in any way once it's sent. Replies are expected and welcomed in most cases. I am NOT wanting to Lock the Topic at any time.
I just want to NOT force-feed ALL of the members of the group - specifically those who do NOT want to get ALL messages - with the mail they don't want to see.

Thanks in advance.

The 41282 post is on GMF, not beta (beta only has 32180 messages).? It wouldn't be accepted by beta, if you copied/sent it there, because #notification is an illegal hashtag.

#bug Database change notification missing a specification #bug

I reported this as a #notification a couple of weeks ago. I believe there was a response from Mark on it but I cannot find it anywhere. And I'd like to elevate this to a #bug report.

Owners/moderators getting a notice that someone has made a change/update in a database is an exceptional and beneficial feature, especially when a bunch of amateurs may be banging around in your database. Their 'help' is invaluable and save hours of research and entry, but...the notification message sent is incomplete. I am making some changes to links in the Db and my co-moderators received this message: "Dan Tucker <antiquetuck@...> updated row in Last Alarm Roster" I did not get this message - though I am the one making the changes. However, and the #bug here is that the specification of which row has been changed is not shown.

I've found a few items within the Users and Owners manuals on this but I can't find anything addressing this specific process. And, having just (within the hour) published/released my first Database within our Forum, just gotten the first Notice of Change by a member. I got a brief email that simply said: "(member [email address]) updated row in Last Alarm Roster".
And I thought...'that's nice.' But, gee, I wonder which column in which (of 128) row(s) he made the change. Nothing in the Manuals suggests columnar details (though that would be nice - like specifying which cell in a spreadsheet), I figured it would at least suggest the Row.

In reading the text of the message, I'm led to believe that the message is/was actually intended to read
"(member [email address]) updated row (fill in the blank) in Last Alarm Roster". But it obviously did not populate with the Row Number.

I had to go into the Db, make 'Visible' the 'Updated' column (by default hidden), then find it hidden off the window to the right - with no scroll bar at the bottom of the screen to suggest that it was over there - and look for today's date/time to locate the Row, then assess the complete Row to identify the apparent anomaly from the original entries.

Did I miss something? Am I looking for something? that is not there? How is this supposed to appear and report?

I'll add a bit more to this in that I don't know which Row (how it will be identified/discovered) was changed. If the message came in right now and said "
Dan Tucker <antiquetuck@...> updated row (fill in the blank) in Last Alarm Roster", how would that Row be located? Will the (__) show the ID of the Row? Which I assume would be constant for that Row of data. Or would the Row (__) possibly change with the sort parameter or order? From what I've seen so far, Row ID 1 of the Db will ALWAYS be the same information even if an alphabetical sort moves it to the middle of the pack. It appears the 'sort order/param' only re-sorts the items, not the Row ID number.

One other item along this line is the "visible' setting pull-down. I go to a page of the Table; I see the record I want; I set the visible to show ID; I get back to the page with the record (or the 'visible refreshes the screen) and I have to scroll back to the record I was looking at; I make any change; and then I lose the visible setting: then I go to the next page in the Table and repeat the process. I know that I can go into Edit Table Properties and change the setting but then I can only assume everyone will see that property visible until I go back into Edit Table Properties again and change that setting. Could the 'visible' pulldown be set to remain set-as-temporarily-set until it is toggled back/turned off again?

Thanks!

I know when the invitation is accepted it is usually in the pending and it is not there.
So, when you go to Invite and click on the other tab, Sent Invitations, it doesn't say Accepted beside the name? If it doesn't, perhaps there is a delay or the person never clicked through to accept.

If you invite someone, it doesn't go to Pending. The assumption is that you know that you want them in your group,
Check Admin, Members and see if they are there.
If yes, you can add them to your subgroups as usual. And they will already get the default subscription for the main group.

Re: Database Table "Updated" column width default #database

Dan -- This problem tends to crop up when folks don't leave well enough alone. I suggest you stick with 0 (zero) as the display width for everything and let your browser scale the columns as best it can. This generally will give the best performance on a largest variety of devices (phones/tablets/desktop).

If you choose to ignore this advice and specify something anyway, keep in mind that Display Width is in pixels, not characters or percent.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Database Table "Updated" column width default #database

I've built my first and second databases. I like them for what they can do and how they can do it. But I've found an issue that I don't see any reference or resolution to. This might be considered a #bug.

The "Updated" column is a suggested default hidden - and probably for good reason. The Display Width is HUGE by default. My first picture shows it using 1/4 of the table width for entries that are consistently less then 10 characters; I haven't seen what it will do with the 'longer name months', it may hold to no more than six characters (three-character month, space, (max) two character date). I look at it fairly frequently right now as I've got a number of changes being made to a newly created and populated Db. It consumes way too much of the screen/page when it's turned on, and it literally is hidden if it's 'toggled' on with the pull-down "Visible" option. On top of that, if you use the pull-down for it, it has to be reset every time you change Db pages.

The second attachment shows that other than the ID Column, it is the only other column that has no permissible Display Width setting available. Incidentally, the ID Column, when visible, is only a minimal number of characters wide - it is not obnoxious like the Updated Column.
Does anyone (short of Mark with a tweak) have any suggestions or ideas?
Thanks. Dan

You don't have to do anything.

You only need to pay for groups
with more than 100 members if
your group was created *AFTER*
this rule took effect. Which
was not your case.

I have a free group with more
than 600 members -- created only
when Yahoo closed Yahoogroups --
and I didn't have to do anything.

It all depended on when you created your group

See /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/25069

But if no one has tapped you on the shoulder I suspect you will be okay

And Groups.io was highly recommended by some of our

I really don't recall there being a limit to members for a free

But there could have been.

Then one day in February, one of our owners emailed me and said . . .
We have a problem! We're not allowed to have more than 100 members

We were afraid we'd one day find out our group got shut down for
violating the rules, and immediately paid $220 for a year's upgrade.

Our group isn't monetized. And only 2 of us are paying the fee.

1). Was the 100 member rule added after we joined? And therefore we
were grandfathered in. But didn't know it?

2). If we did have to upgrade, were we supposed to get a lower price
if we joined before that rule went into effect?

Have a look at /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/25069.? That shows when things changed and what applies to various groups.? You can look at the Billing/Upgrade page of the group in question to see Your Group Features that may be Legacy Enabled.? That means you'd keep them if you downgrade to Basic.? Unless it specifically gives a number for Members: (not shown on older groups), you have no limit.
