I can't tell for sure whether you are using the mobile version or the app. However, if you close that screen with the X (right side) you get to the messages. ?The writing tools are at the bottom of the page.

Morning Richard,

What did you update? Usually once you have made an alteration to a recurring Event, the Calendar will ask: 'This Event', 'Events After This Event', 'All Events' (or something like this?). And did the actual alteration take place, and if so; was only the notification that was wrong?

HI Frances, and thank you for your advice. I have double- and triple-checked, and I'm certain I did use the Account box to change my email address. I have now changed it back to the original email address, but a new problem -- it no longer recognizes me as the Group Owner. I still receive posts from other members, but cannot post my own messages. I got a message stating that my post would be sent as soon as the group owner confirmed my application to join. I've gone over and over the subscription site and can't come up with a way to rejoin as Owner. Any help much appreciated. -Kathrynne

But now my group won't accept my posts, and also does not recognize that I'm a member of my own group. Yet, I do get messages from members of my group, sent to my former email address. I've tried repeatedly to resolve this but without success. Can anyone help me change my email address and still be recognized as the group owner, and send messages? Thanks for any advice. -Kathrynne
I am puzzled. Did you change your email address in the top right corner - Account?

And if you are visiting your group home page, I would be wary of auto-fill after the change. Just check!

Updated event and group - Event creation date showing instead of next event date #calendar #events

We have a recurring event for a monthly meeting on the 2nd Thursday of each month.? I went in to update it today an sent an update to the group, but the event showed the original creation date instead of the actual date.? The recurring event was created on 9/11/2021 and this is what got posted to the group after the update today.? Is this expected behavior?

Bruce, thank you for your comments. I believe I did complete the process because I got a confirmation email from Groups.io, and replied to it to confirm the change. Also, the Yahoo email address did not have an account before I started the change, so I don't believe the accounts could have been merged.

I have logged in under the old address but cannot access Owner functions. I do get posts from other members, but cannot post any messages myself. I don't know how to change this. Any comments / help appreciated. -Kathrynne

If you really completed an address change on your existing account, posts wouldn't be going to the old address anymore.

/helpcenter/membersmanual/1/understanding-groups-io-accounts/setting-account-preferences-and-viewing-account-information?

So you either didn't complete the process, or may have done something else.

-- A confirmation email should have been sent to the destination (Yahoo) address. Did you respond to it??
-- Did your Yahoo email address already have an account before you started this process? If so, you may have merged the accounts instead of simply changing email addresses.

At this point I suggest you try to log in under the old address and see if you can still access your Owner functions. It would be unwise to recommend a course of action until we know where you currently are.

Regards,
Bruce

She should use the Email Me A Link To Log In. She can create a password if she wishes after login, but she doesn't have to.

And

/helpcenter/membersmanual/1/understanding-groups-io-accounts/logging-in-to-your-account

Some important points - if you use this way of logging in, you must do it on any device and browser you use. If your browser deletes cookies on a device, you have to do it again on that device.
You can be logged in to your Groups.io account on multiple devices at the same time. You do not need to log out on one device before you log in on another one.
  • The login cookie expires in 30 days, but each visit to a group website extends the 30-day timeout period.
  • If you delete your browser cookies (or your security software deletes them), you will be logged out.
  • If your browser is set to delete cookies on exit, you will be logged out.
  • If your browser is set to Private Browsing, you must log in again.

I also tried asking the same question on an old thread about establishing new owners. I wasn't sure which was the more appropriate way of asking, and I'm sorry if the double posting is wrong.

That means that full email addresses will show in the online archive to members of the group when signed in.? If your archive is public, non-members (or those not signed in) won't see the full address, just what you're currently seeing.? The full address is included in all emails delivered to members per their subscription settings.

Unfortunately, it is not searchable by browser by the badge itself (the image), but I have sent a suggestion to the Docs subgroup of Beta.

Does that make all email addresses in directory viewable to all members? Or just in each message? Directory looks like a different option.
Does that allow full email addresses to show up in body of messages?
The issue trying to solve is when members post contact info in a reply or message it is truncated for some members?
Want to preserve privacy, ?but would like email addresses to be viewable, ?if posted within body of a reply or a message.

I just wanted to point out the difference between the member list and the member directory.
Member list is labelled "Members". Member directory is labelled "Directory".
See?/helpcenter/glossary

Not all members are listed in Directory, only those that allow it. And only members who have chosen to make their profile visible can see other members who have opted to be included in the directory.

I'd like to do this in a way where the subgroup is limited to seeing anything outside of its "box", but allow other members outside of that box to view and join groups without moderation.??
Subgroups have all the functionality of normal groups, but for someone to be a member of a subgroup, that person must first be a member of the primary (parent) group.?

All members of the subgroup will see the contents of the main group.
However you can change the main group to be an announcement only group which means that only owners and moderators with permission can post to the main group. That might help achieve what you want.

Subgroups must have spam control. Your choice of how that happens.

It means new member moderated, not "moderator."
"New Members Moderated - Messages from new members are held pending moderator approval. After the set number of consecutive messages are approved, the member is automatically unmoderated. Label is NMM."

The owner chooses the number of messages before the member is automatically unmoderated.

Your second question was about help. See here:

Re: Missing from 'My Groups'

Yes they are also not listed on my Groups.io account. I'm not sure what the names were -- only that they began with an 'N.' They were groups I hadn't visited in a long time. I don't remember the names. Just that there were a couple of groups listed between the two Northeastern groups -- one of which begins with 'NE' and the other 'No' -- and they're not there now.? But if there is no notification when an owner deletes a group that would explain it.

I haven't joined any groups since I migrated to Groups.io from YG! -- other than Beta and GMF -- so the missing groups go back to the Yahoo era. In fact, there's several others that gradually died but I still belong to. Once in a great while I click on their message list but there's usually almost nothing to see.

For the future, I have taken a screen cap so I have a record of my groups.

Re: Monitor Participation

I guess I would be considered one of those deadbeats.? I have "notifications only" configured for all the groups I belong to, and I do all my reading, replying, and composing replies on the groups.io website.? I basically treat groups.io like an online forum.? Looks like you can't easily track activity of members like me.? You might be able to just search the message archives for my name to find how active I was in the group.
