Re: Downgrading a group
Chris,
By "owner paid last year" (2019), does that mean that you have the grandfathered $110 rate or the group was formed after October 2019 and has the current $220 rate? If the $110 rate, be forewarned that (as it stands right now) if you ever downgrade to free you'll revert to the $220 rate if you ever want to return back to Premium; or if you keep premium and switch to monthly, you go to the $20/month rate, so if this is the case and the deadline timeframe is tight to resolve this, you may want to go ahead and pay it yourself now before losing that rate and sort things out later, maybe with a member donation drive or whatever, $110 is relatively easy to raise from 20-30 folks each giving just $5.? When we were mulling where to move to from Yahoo last year, after all options were presented and my members decided GIO was the best option (for our group type), we then all of a sudden found out the rate was going to change to $220, so I went ahead and paid myself for the two major groups to secure the rate, then setup a paypal account for donations.? We did end up raising almost 1K in one group and ~$700 on the other, so it shouldn't be a problem; we do have 2K and 3K members in those groups so admittedly we had a numerical advantage, but even with smaller groups, $110 is easier to raise than $220!? So just follow Duane's instructions in the meantime, go and setup yourself as a payor, enter the CC*** to use and pay the $110, then go back and change that CC number to a throwaway one*** so you won't be storing a "good" CC number. Paying it now will also preclude for ever any charge on the deceased owner's CC, since you are now the payor, and it wouldn't be an emergency trying to remove that info from his account, it can be done later on whenever. If you have the $220 rate already, then still go ahead and set yourself as the payor, then downgrade immediately so your card won't be charged. Cheers, Christos PS *** may use a debit card with a buck or 2 on it; yes, that is the best way to store "CC" info on websites that need it, I do that too; use a debit card, with no overcharge/overdraft protection/capability, and replenish it only when needed.? If you bank has free no-frill checking, with no or low minimum balance requirement, get one with a debit card, set it to no overdraft protection, and use that for online transactions. |

Re: rumor control [Groups.io is not Yahoo Groups]
I made a second account for myself some time back with a Yahoo email address, so I could see what a regular member sees on my group. What I noticed is I used to get Groups.io email in that second account on Yahoo, but for some time now I don't get anything from G in that Yahoo account. What I wonder is if any of my members are experiencing the same thing.

I¡¯ll likely delete him from the group before the payment is due. That won't delete his account though.? I'm not sure if the system will allow a non-member, or even a non-mod/owner, to pay for a group, but I guess it's possible if he set it up for autopay.? It's also quite possible that he made a one time payment, so no charge will be attempted.? If at all possible, I'd work with his widow to delete the account.? That should remove all doubt. If I'm going to change to basic, why do I need to enter payment card info?? Seems like a Catch-22.Yes, it's awkward.? After entering the CC, you'll be set as a payor.? I think at that point you want to change the group to Basic to prevent an automatic charge attempt.? Then you go to your Account, at the upper right, select the Billing page, and click Delete Payment Method (or something similar), but you'll still be able to see the View/Change Plan button. You won't see any information about the other account.? After thinking about it, I don't believe that will remove the information for the other person though since there can be multiple payors in a group. Downgrading a group
In looking at the online manual, it says that when I go to Admin/Billing there will be a View/Change plan in the upper right of my Billing menu, and it's not there.? The owner that paid last year passed away and I'm trying to make sure that the payment charge doesn't hit his Credit Card.? We plan to move to Basic plan for the short term, but I can't switch it there to make sure it doesn't hit his CC (working with the widow to make sure the CC is closed).? Just wondering where the View/Change Plan has moved because it's not on the Admin/Billing page.? And I am an owner.?? I've demoted the original payer's account to a member.? Any ideas as to what is going on??

Re: Footers
Bruce F,
Force HTML set, and I REALLY want to get the HTML style footer on allIt won't if you also have Plain Text only set. I was wrong about that. I have sent HTML from Thunderbird and text from Thunderbird but noneAbsent Plain Text Only, it is supposed to convert the incoming message to HTML, causing the HTML footer to be appended. My emails are set inwards as Viewed Always in HTML.But what are you actually receiving? Have you looked at the message source of any of these messages? It would appear to be a Thunderbird-created situation and in view ofPresumably you see your own messages here with the HTML footer, just as you saw Chris Jones', right? (message #35101) So it isn't a Thunderbird thing, at least not on the receiving side. And you demonstrate with each of your messages posted here that you can send messages in HTML style. I've been using Thunderbird in all of my Groups.io groups for about six years now, and I have never seen the problem you describe. Messages here in GMF arrive with one footer or the other, depending on how they were sent, just as they are supposed to. In my test group I just tried having Force HTML checked but not Plain Text. I posted a text/plain message, and got it back with both text/plain and text/HTML message bodies. Displaying the text/HTML message body in Thunderbird did indeed show the formatted footer. And in Thunderbird selecting View | Message body as | Plain text for that very same message did indeed show me the plain text footer. So I think you still have a fundamental misunderstanding or misinterpretation somewhere in how you are performing your tests. Re: Photo Move
I must be doing something wrong. I did an export of group data (photos). I got an email with a link to the zip file. I unzipped the file and got files and .json. I created a photo album in the new group. I tried to do an add a file from the unzipped files to the new album It tells me, "
Invalid type for file "Coop Grain Storage". Only "image" files are supported.". |
