Re: Failed file upload still sends notification
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThat was my experience. ?The user didn¡¯t upload the file (not sure why) but notification went out to the group.?Best Regards, Jules Ryckebusch? On Jun 12, 2020, at 11:28, Hudson Leighton <hudsonl@...> wrote:

Re: Failed file upload still sends notification
I concur, Hudson. Send it to Mark. I think the original notice should also go to the group owner address.

As a related issue, I wonder if a notice shouldn't also be sent to the poster if there's an upload reduction limit in place and the image has been reduced along with a note that the group owner can change that setting if necessary. Hudson, if you send this to beta I'll follow onto your lead to support it. Dano ----- Original Message -----

Failed file upload still sends notification
I recently had a file upload refused for wrong file type, got the error message that file was wrong and not uploaded.
Fine, I went with "plan B", But the notification that a file had been uploaded was sent to the members. Should things be changed so the the notification goes out AFTER a successful upload? -Hudson |
Re: No EMail Option.
I set my groups to not allow ¡°no email¡± so the closest option becomes ¡°special notices only¡±. I wouldn¡¯t want to have to send out a bunch of personal emails if there is something Important the entire group should be made aware of.
Regarding groups which may have ¡°sensitive¡± components - medical, mental health, etc. - i think some members may believe that choosing ¡°no mail¡± ensures privacy. If they ever post, even if they only post on the web, their email address will be visible/available to other group members who receive any form of group email (individual or digests).? If we own any ¡°sensitive¡± groups, members should be made aware of this and, if they have concerns, encouraged to use an alternative email address. ?I¡¯m still hoping that Mark may someday fix this privacy issue (which is not synonymous with anonymity). Currently, the best defense is restricting group membership. Patti |

Limit number of rows in a database table
#database
Hi,
I can't see any way of limiting the number of rows in a database table. I want to create a table and allow members to add details to it until a maximum number of rows has been reached. Ideas anyone? Thanks Andy |

No EMail Option.
I run a couple of group .? One has to do with mental health. I have a couple of Drs as subscribers.? They selected no e mail in response to frequency of messages from the group.
I make exceptions for them, since they run private practices.?? I see that no e mail is not an option anymore.? ?It used to be. Any thoughts.. Robert |

Thanks for reading and replying! Yes, the main group is an unrestricted group, but set to announcement only, as you mention.? In testing, the new users who sent the email to request to join were automatically added to that main group,?and they could edit their account info, and then when they had done that, I would approve?them to join the subgroups. It worked so well! Until it didn't... On Wed, Jun 10, 2020 at 9:54 PM Frances <frances@...> wrote: On Wed, Jun 10, 2020 at 09:50 PM, Brooke Wood wrote: |

Blank email to join address has stopped working

#subgroup
Hi, I would love some help if any one has ideas on this one:
I have set up a new group for our coop members, for which the actual conversation takes place in two subgroups. Both sub groups have restricted membership, in large part because before?they are added to the subgroups, I want them to update the group.ios account with their personal info (name/location) so I can check they are a member of the coop before they are permitted to join. (I figure if am I not vigilant when folks are joining, I would loose the leverage to force members to do this piece of admin and the integrity of the membership list will go downhill very fast). As such, I tested a whole process where I advise new members to apply for the group by sending a blank email to the subscribe address (ie "[email protected]").?They got the pending notice, updated their basic account info, and I approved their memberships. Hey presto. Now that whole subscription email process seems to have just stopped working... I have had folks in the coop tell me they followed my instructions, but got nothing back. I tested it on gmail addresses I have created for the purpose - where before it was perfect, now I get nothing... I find if I invite or direct add folks, they miss the whole "pending" process to get them to update their account info, which I added a notice for so it was all happening automatically.?? I'm at a loss as to what I possibly did or changed to mess up a system I had working SO well. Any ideas welcome! Thank you in advance. |
