Limit number of rows in a database table #database

Hi,

I can't see any way of limiting the number of rows in a database table. I want to create a table and allow members to add details to it until a maximum number of rows has been reached. Ideas anyone?

Thanks
Andy

Check the Settings page under Message Policies.? You probably have "Disable No Email" selected (second item in that panel).

No EMail Option.

I run a couple of group .? One has to do with mental health. I have a couple of Drs as subscribers.? They selected no e mail in response to frequency of messages from the group.

I make exceptions for them, since they run private practices.??

I see that no e mail is not an option anymore.? ?It used to be.

Any thoughts..

This stopped happening. I'm assuming Mark fixed it.

Brooke -- The Pending Subscription notice is sent to those who apply on their own to join your Restricted group. Sending a message to the +subscribe address is one way to apply.

This notifies them that their subscription is under review. Until you examine their application and approve them, that subscription remains in Pending status.

Now that whole subscription email process seems to have just stopped working... I have had folks in the coop tell me they followed my instructions, but got nothing back. I tested it on gmail addresses I have created for the purpose - where before it was perfect, now I get nothing...

I find if I invite or direct add folks, they miss the whole "pending" process to get them to update their account info, which I added a notice for so it was all happening automatically.??
The difference here is that those people did not apply...you asked them to join.

The Pending Subscription notice isn't?sent to anyone you Invite or Direct Add, simply because those people never land in Pending status. The premise here is that you have already vetted them and want them to join, otherwise you would never have sent them the invitation.

If you wish to acquire data about someone no matter how they get into the group, you'll have to find some other way to do it.

Bruce

Re: Blank email to join address has stopped working #membership #subgroup

Thanks for reading and replying! Yes, the main group is an unrestricted group, but set to announcement only, as you mention.?

In testing, the new users who sent the email to request to join were automatically added to that main group,?and they could edit their account info, and then when they had done that, I would approve?them to join the subgroups. It worked so well! Until it didn't...

Are they already a member of the main group? They must be, even if they are set to Special Notices or No Mail.
(Or perhaps the main group, if it isn't really in use could be an announcement group. Only the owners/moderators can post.)

Re: Blank email to join address has stopped working #membership #subgroup

I just tried it and it doesn't seem to work. The Pending Subscription notice I set up in my test subgroup doesn't work.
I did try it with a member of the main group as required.

Odd.

Blank email to join address has stopped working #membership #subgroup

Hi, I would love some help if any one has ideas on this one:

I have set up a new group for our coop members, for which the actual conversation takes place in two subgroups. Both sub groups have restricted membership, in large part because before?they are added to the subgroups, I want them to update the group.ios account with their personal info (name/location) so I can check they are a member of the coop before they are permitted to join. (I figure if am I not vigilant when folks are joining, I would loose the leverage to force members to do this piece of admin and the integrity of the membership list will go downhill very fast).

As such, I tested a whole process where I advise new members to apply for the group by sending a blank email to the subscribe address (ie "[email protected]").?They got the pending notice, updated their basic account info, and I approved their memberships. Hey presto.

I'm at a loss as to what I possibly did or changed to mess up a system I had working SO well.

Any ideas welcome! Thank you in advance.

Re: Message Display on Website

Sometime in the past forty-five minutes my message display reverted to normal. Seeing twenty at a time and the upper right display index shows 1 of 20. Clicking the forward arrow brings me to 21 of 40.

Guess the work session is over!

Seeing the same here. I've already made a post about it on beta group.

You didn't do anything.? I'm guessing that you're set for 20 items per page and seeing 400.? Mine is set to 50 and seeing 2500.? Both are the square of the actual value for some reason.? I think Mark is working on things again.? If it doesn't clear up shortly (Mark catches it), you could report a #bug on the beta group.

I don't understand what Yahoo has to do with any of this.

groups.io doesn¡¯t number its messages.?
Individual messages display the message number in the footer, as part of the View/Reply Online link.

Viewing the message in the online message archive, you will find the same message number at upper right.

Re: Message Display on Website

Thanks Duane. Yes it sounds like maybe Mark is working on something.

I'm only seeing twenty messages at a time though. I really noticed this when I wanted to look at a message on another group, posted about 35 messages back. To view it I had to search by message number.

Here's a better pic. It's the identical message with the same message number.

That can't be it, they have the same message number.? I suspect this is somehow related to the other problem reported of showing the incorrect number of items on the page, /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/74806928? Hopefully Mark will notice soon, but a #bug report to the beta group wouldn't hurt.
