Re: Member approval
Janice,
Additional information: this person was already a member under aMy guess is that the person merged his two email addresses (accounts). This would have effectively deleted the pending membership and (depending on the direction of merge) left him with a single membership under his new (or old) address. I did a search and found what I suspected was his old membership. IHmm... That doesn't fit with my guess. Unless you deleted his now sole membership. Is he still a member? Unless he had two old addresses subscribed to your group and merged the other one. I¡¯m still seeing the badge showing a Pending Member. There's been a long-standing bug involving accounts that are deleted (or merged) while Pending: that count doesn't get updated. Re: Member Not Confirmed
Kent,
Only 2 have been marked as NC even though we used the same InviteAccepting an invitation confirms one's address. So those two must have skipped your invitation and joined by other means. You can check your group's Activity log to see what happened. Is there a fix to prevent this from happening to other potentialNo. Apart from educating people on the need to respond to Groups.io's confirmation request. Even with a Basic group you can have another one sent to them. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |
Re: Chronic:: Messages not being delivered.
Chris,
Incoming senders are checked with addresses in the recipient'sThe fly in that ointment is that each member's post comes From an address unique to that member. Usually the member's own subscription address, but sometimes a munged version of it. /static/help#dmarc If the mechanism also checks the Sender address that would work: that's always the group's posting address. You would then only need that address in your Contact List. From versus Sender is a technical detail that one normally doesn't need to distinguish, but for mail that's been forwarded through a conventional email list they are different. Re: Member approval
I went to Admin>Members and then on the drop down list I chose Pending. There was a badge indicating there was a Pending Member but no name was listed. I then navigated to the regular member list and there was his name right at the top of the list.
Additional information: this person was already a member under a different ID and email address but the information displayed on the member list was his new information. I received a response to the automatic questionnaire sent out when someone applies for membership. In that response he told me he had been trying to log in to try to change his email address but couldn¡¯t remember how so he applied for a new membership (which some how got approved). The name and email address was not the one he originally joined with. I did a search and found what I suspected was his old membership. I contacted him and he said, yes, that was the old membership. I deleted the old one. I¡¯m still confused about how his new membership got approved. I checked the group activity and it shows when he applied for membership but no approval is listed. I¡¯m still seeing the badge showing a Pending Member. Janice B Stansbury Park, Utah |

Today, I received a Pending Member notice. ?I went to the place to approve him and he was not there. ?There was a badge showing a member was pending but none listed. ?I went to my membership list and there he was all approved. ?I am the only one who approves member in my private group. ?There is still a badge showing a member is pending. ?Any ideas on this mystery?

Automatic Notification when (database or file created)
Steve C
I thought I came across away sometime ago to set up an automatic Member that whenever a Database and/or File is created an?automatic notification is sent to all Members.
?
Does this sound familiar as I don¡¯t recall how to do this or is it a simple case of ¡°wishful thinking¡±?
?
Thanks,
?

But, is there a Junk or Spam folder in the webmail interface, and can you create a filter that moves a message to the INBOX?Yes; there's a Spam Box, and I found a solution late yesterday evening (UK time!) Buried in BT Mail's labyrinthine "Help" section I spotted something I think I had seen once some time ago but not followed up. Incoming senders are checked with addresses in the recipient's (webmail) Contact List and if they are there then it assumes that the incoming traffic is legitimate. I set it up last night and it seemed to be OK after 12 hours or so (fortunately the group in question is quite busy at the moment) so I gradually migrated incoming material from a temporary moderatorship (new word!) that I had set up on a second membership that goes nowhere near BT Mail. Fingers crossed; so far group traffic is not being interrupted at all, although it was a bit annoying to find an email from someone else was shunted into the spam box for no obvious reason. So for now anyway the matter has been resolved. (Famous Last Words!) FWIW the "Help Pages" are so convoluted and cross - linked I greatly doubt if I could ever find the relevant section again. It's a wilderness of mirrors in there... Chris |

UPDATE: It seems the problem was the subscriber's "Confirm Your Groups.io Subscription" email going to spam folder.

Re: Chronic:: Messages not being delivered.
A suggestion that may help some folks: switch to digests. Not a solution if you like the interaction of receiving and sending emails all day, but for folks, like me, who spend an hour on groups in the morning and then leave them be for the rest of the day, digests reduce the volume of email and the odds that it will be classed as spam. When they are classed as spam, it's only one email to report not spam.
