There is a lot of talk about a change from POP3 to IMAP being "better"I resisted IMAP for quite a while, mostly because Eudora Pro updates went away before they'd really gotten IMAP to work well. When I switched to Thunderbird I initially kept my email delivery set to POP, but I've since become a convert to IMAP, and will attest that it takes a change of point of view, but it isn't any more tedious on a day-to-day basis (and for some issues, like access to a provider's spam folder, considerably less tedious). As best I can tell, default is that first post must be moderated.As Frances said, you can't turn that off without turning at least one other one. Not restricted.Then the simplest thing to do is simply approve members' messages as they arrive in Pending. It won't take long before the most active members have all had their 1st post approved, at which point it will become increasingly rare that you have to approve another. You don't have to do any extra work beyond that 1st approval for members that post. In many groups the majority of members "lurk" without posting, those members won't take any work at all until and unless they decide to post. During the conversion from Yahoo to groups.io, 5 of my group's
addresses were converted to name@... instead of the actual
email addresses, hence the big B.? I was able to edit one of the
5 by using her bounce message (she was getting the bounce
message on her actual address) link to fix it but I don't have
direct access to the olther four.? Is there a less than obvious
method for me to modify the incorrectly-xlated email addresses
to what they really are and then fix the bounce blocks so I can

I have an active member who is having difficulty with sending and receiving posts to our group of friends, for whom groups.io is our main form of continuity in communication. He has unsubscribed and re-subscribed more than once, both on his own and with the help of the two co-moderators, and also re-subscribed with a new e-mail address. We are receiving his group posts, but he is not, My co-moderator and I are at a loss to help him further and think the problem may be on his own computer. Neither of us are tech savvy enough to be of further help.
Is there a phone number, a chat room or other means by which he can get assistance quickly? (We are in the US on Eastern Time.) He is a prolific and important contributor. Please feel free to reply to this or directly off-list as my own e-mail, bsandpp@....? Thanks, Paul |

See the "export group data" button at the top of your Settings page. After opening the resulting file in a compatible mail client (e.g.: Apple Mail or Mozilla Thunderbird), you can then print the messages to a PDF document and put that in the target group's files area. See?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Moving-to-Groups.io#Uploading-a-message-archive?for some slightly outdated information about this. I did that for several groups that I wanted to help migrate from Yahoo but whose owners were unwilling to give me sufficient permissions to do it the "right" way. I guess I was just hoping that somehow I could find a way to preserve/migrate message from the old group into the new one, perhaps by linking to the old group messages? I have a feeling the answer is no...just a shot in the dark.

Thought so. That is a bummer. This means I have to re create the group and subgroups under parent B group and then send new invitations to everyone to join again?

There's no merging (or splitting) of (sub)groups on GIO that can be done programmatically.? You'd have to do everything manually.?
