¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSomeone suggested that if my account was associated with any other group, any owner can go in and confirm. ?I am in three groups, one of which I am an owner and the one where I goofed up and now am unconfirmed in only that group. ?So while my account was in three groups (my owner group, the GMF group and one more), I am in effect only in one group (my owned group) with the errant email now. ?I suppose if the suggestion works, I could join any group with the errant address and have the owner of that group backdoor me in by confirming me (and apparently a Premium Group owner can do that). That does not make sense to me but if it does, then I will try it. ?To be specific, I would ask to join a Premium Group with the errant email address (of which I would never get a confirmation email to) and then owner of that group would backdoor confirm me and thus I would be confirmed in my owned group at the same time. ? Again, just does not make sense to me especially since in the [GMF] Members that are not Confirmed thread, it does not seem possible for an owner to backdoor confirm someone who is NC at least with a regular group. Maybe I am totally misunderstanding the suggestion. To refresh, my situation is where I, the sole owner of a regular group, tried to change my address and goofed typing it in. ?I am now listed as NC because the confirmation email never came to me since it is a bogus address with the wrong extension. ?And I am unable to get into my group to make any correction since I am NC. ? I did write support three days ago, but suspect with all the Yahoo conversion traffic going on right now I will not get a reply for awhile. ? David |

If the group doesn't check the "Remove Other Reply Options" box then the user can toggle between reply destinations using the silver buttons to the right of the Reply and Discard buttons.Any reason the user can't just change the "to" field manually by changing the the group name to an individual name if desired for an individual message? Re: "CHANGE: We are no longer accepting new Yahoo Group transfer requests"?
Cindy in DE
Hi, I'd like to do this, send a link to all of our YG members.? I have been promoted from moderator to owner but I don't see how to send out an admin message or special notice message so that those who are set to special notices only will get my message.? It will just go out under my account....? will the fact that now I'm an owner it will go to everyone?
?
I know we have done that in the past, admin messages - special notices, but the person who did that is no longer in the group to ask how to do it.
?
I don't see anywhere on YG to do it.? I don't know if that ability has already been removed from YG?? And do you know what will happen to people who have their subscriptions set to daily digests since digests are going away?? Will they get anything at all going forward?
?
Thank you
?

But at the end of the day Verizon has the final say.?Ditto that. Verizon is a merger and aquisition company. When moving to FL I took advantage of great low cost Verizon FiOs. Within a few years they sold off their Florida FiOs market to Frontier. Service became unstable, customer support went downhill and bills skyrocketed as Frontier struggled to find the sweet spot of service delivery that returned a profit to them.? Will the "pre" "/pre" tags not work in HTML code in here?Yes, but you will have to enter that in "source code" mode, as the editor does not provide these tags via the menu icons. Using <pre></pre> will also put a gray box around the text, which may or may not be objectionable. This is some artifact of the style sheets groups.io uses, which I'm told are a (see the files area). Example: This text is preformatted and contains embedded whitespace ?

The Yahoo groups put the quoted post at the bottom of the reply. Is there a setting in GIO, either for group or subscription, as to the placement of the quote (before or after the reply)?Bill -- This has been discussed at length here in GMF and in beta, and everyone seems to have their own opinion of what is "correct." The default behavior of the online message editor is no quoting at all, leaving it up to the individual. Personally, I like this approach...the incessant bottom-quoting of each successive message in Yahoo could get pretty ridiculous, especially for those who receive digests. There is a "quote whole post" icon at the far left of the message editor, or if you select a section of the original message with your mouse before clicking Reply and it will be carried down into your message composition window. Of course, for those who respond via email, it depends entirely on the settings of their email client, and there is no way for groups.io to exercise any control over that. If you wish to have specific quoting rules for your group, it will have to be enforced by moderation activities, not software.? Regards, Bruce |

There are many options that allow displayed data to be collected other than exporting it. I have copied and pasted data from online tables on many different websites. Nearly anything displayed on a website can be captured in some way. Re: "CHANGE: We are no longer accepting new Yahoo Group transfer requests"?
The problem in knowing what yahoo was going to do is that while it appeared at the head of the group page, many people, including owners, never accessed the group page; there was no reason to as everything was done by email.? So don't be too hard on people that missed.? I never would have found out had not someone on a group I belong to mentioned it in passing.......and even then the first time I went to that group page, the announcement was NOT there.
[mod note: or as happened to me, it was there but because it is placed above the group's cover image it was auto-scrolled off the top of my viewing window.] |
Re: Members that are Not Confirmed

As the new members requested membership, I manually approved them, but a few are now showing "NC" (not confirmed) on the members list.Kenny; your manually approved them above is a function of your running a Restricted Group wherein subscribers have to be approved rather than just "joining". Do you use the "Pending Subscription" message requirement? I suspect not because I hope you would have mentioned it. The simple solution to this is not to approve applicants until they have confirmed their request to join by sending the reply requested by Groups.io. Do you "approve" by email? I suspect that you do but IIRC there is no clue in the email notification that the applicant has yet to confirm their request to join; IMHO it is much better to approve from the Pending Approval list because any NC flag is clearly visible, and if there is a flag against any given application you can just leave the application sitting there until such time as it is cleared by Groups.io receiving the requested confirmation. (Ditto a reply being received by you to a Pending Subscription message) If no action is taken then the application will lapse after 14 days and will vanish; if you wish you can force a resend of the Confirmation Email. By leaving incomplete applications in the pending tray you can prevent NC flags appearing at random in your Members list. As has been pointed out "members" thus flagged can neither post nor receive group messages so there is no useful purpose being served by their actually being members. One query... "manual" approval? AFAIK for a Restricted Group there is no "non - manual" way. :) Chris |
