I have never used hashtags, are there advantages to using them?Daphne; firstly I'm glad that you have managed to get rid of the outbreak of hashtagitis. There probably are advantages in thier use but the group I moderate almost manages without and other groups of which I am a member don't seem to have any set. In that respect I am not the person to give you anything approaching a definitive answer either way. It might be worth considering preparing some "Moderator Only" hashtags, such as #Group_Management for those occasions you need to post something about the operation of your group. You could also include #Photos, #Files & #Messages for use with #Group_Management for any occasion where the post is relevant only to those features. If your members buy and sell stuff you can also provide #For_Sale, #Wanted for use by members themselves. I would certainly suggest starting sparingly and see how things progress. Just keep a firm grip on who can create hashtags! Chris |

Re: Transfer a second Yahoo group as a subgroup?
#transfer
The answer is in the wiki - FAQ on moving from Yahoo Groups.
Yes, you can transfer a second YG as a subgroup and it is included in your $220 fee you have paid. 4 (a) Can I transfer a Yahoo Group into a Subgroup?
?
Yes. Upgrading your Primary Group to the Premium Yearly plan covers your subgroups as well. No extra fee to transfer YG into subgroups.
?
Your subgroups will maintain their own place in the transfer queue.
?
Note: you can't create any subgroups until the primary group gets approved. For more info on subgroups, see Why use a Subgroup for more information about subgroups.?
And basically, you create a subgroup and make sure that you give the right destination for your YG. /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Subgroups ?
4 (b) Can I transfer more than one Yahoo Group into one Groups.io group?
?
Yes. The Premium Yearly plan allows multiple Yahoo Groups to be transferred to your Primary group and/or its subgroups. Be sure to transfer one at a time to avoid problems.
?
If you transfer more than one Yahoo Group into the same Primary or Subgroup the additional content appends to what's already been transferred. Any members already present in the Groups.io group will not be transferred again by later transfers.

Transfer a second Yahoo group as a subgroup?

Having created one groups.io premium account, can I transfer the Yahoo conversations from a different group as a subgroup of the premium account?? ? ?How can I start the process?

Request for second $220 fee?
Eric Johnson
I have just been told that $220 is required to proceed with the transfer of our Board group. This is to be a sub of our main group. It is about 20 members of our main group who are also the Board of Directors of the organization. We have already paid $220!
I created the sub-group a couple of weeks ago with myself as the sole member. I changed the name of the sub-group to "Board" and went on with the transfer yesterday.. Now the system says we owe $220 more. What can we do to correct the error of misinterpretation of our intent? We have struggled for 2 weeks which may be the reason for the disconnect. |

deleting Hashtags from transferred Group
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDear Group Managers, New group manager here, tranferred two groups in th epast week. Problem: Hashtags ¨C we never used them, but of course there were messages with ¡°#¡± in the text, so there is a short list of ¡°Hashtags¡± I would like to REMOVE. So far, all I have been able to do is ¡°Mute¡± them. Does anyone have a magic solution for clearing out the old hashtags? TIA for any received wisdom you can share. ? Going forward, since I have never used hashtags, are there advantages to using them? I think I understand that they provide a way to group messages by category across time & message subject line. I can see how that would be useful, but will have to educate my group memebrs about how to do it . . . For now I just need to remove the bogus ones. ? Daphne Williams |
Re: Email addresses with/without dots
Sandi,
Sorry for the delayed reply, another busy week at my real-world job has begun. So to me this it means she has one GIO account. It is under the nonIt does not imply anything about whether she has another account under the dotted address. In Groups.io different addresses are different accounts, and subscriptions, I wouldn't expect to find info about two different ones in a single membership record. Finding another subscription, under the dotted address, in your group's Members list would be ironclad evidence that she does have a second account under that address, but not finding one doesn't mean that she doesn't. If you can confirm this, I will inform her she needs to set up anI think only support could confirm this, by verifying whether the dotted address is already "in use" - attached to some other Groups.io account, either its own or as an Alias. Either situation would block her ability to add it as an Alias to her non-dotted account. But that doesn't mean she shouldn't try - it is probably the only way for her to find out whether it works. I know how busy Support is so unless it's of benefit to them, I see noAn email to [email protected] is exactly how you would make a bug report, so I'm not sure what distinction you were trying to make. And Mark is who would answer in any case. Posting on beta about this would be inappropriate without a suggested improvement, and I don't think we understand what happened well enough to formulate a suggestion on how to improve the system. Re: [email protected] doesn't go through
I found Yahoo gave an error several times when putting [email protected]?as an invite. Eventually it went through. Keep trying!

Re: Just curious
Although the advertised cutoff for uploads was October 28, Yahoo did not actually manage to bring it off at the deadline (surprise?). New messages are continuing to appear on the web as recently as November 26. They are downloadable by PGO4 as well, so I'm taking incremental backups while I work out a solution. Messages may continue to be stored at this time. We simply haven't had any activity in our group. Larry |

The details that every part of the service which involves storing users' content will be closed down. All message history will be removed, even digest mode for reading messages, as well as all files and photos and group home pages. All that will remain is a message reflector and a minimal system for managing subscribers to each list. ?- Mark |

I suggest you advise them to create or change their updated subscription email address on your group before they veer away from Yahoo Mail. Otherwise you will have to deal with new subscriptions.? I think that people may have given up on their Yahoo addresses, except for stray subscriptions like this. So diehards who prefer Yahoo Mail I wouldn't worry about too much yet. It is those who actually don't check their Yahoo mail much anymore that you should target first.
