Re: Digest Header Size #featurerequest

If I understand what you're describing correctly, I think it may be the same problem with the fixed width of the digest that I brought up a few days ago?

/g/GroupManagersForum/message/23886

I contacted Mark about it, and so did someone else on the thread, but so far I've not gotten any response.

The Yahoo invitation function has been balky for a long time now. I assume you are getting the standard "an error occurred while loading the content?" If so, that's a common error ever since the NEO "downgrade."

If you're getting some other error, come back and tell us what it is.

Unfortunately, there is no way for groups.io to "break into" your group and steal the content itself, so we have to make this invitation thing work. Recommendations on what to do for "error loading content" can be found at?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/19411. Others have recently reported that they had more luck using a PC instead of a Mac, or trying another browser.

Hopefully one of those things will help you to get an invitation sent. Once it goes through, your "pink box" status will change to "We have received your invitation and will accept it soon." Go back and check that to be sure.

Once you get the transfer agent invited and [eventually] accepted, you will also have to promote it to a Moderator. If you don't have the necessary privileges to do that your transfer will stall at that point. You might want to promote someone else in your group to Moderator now to ensure you can do it and to get in some practice. Instructions for this can be found at?.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Re: Yahoo Transfer #transfer

Thanks Bruce.

Yes, we are on the Premium Plan.

When I checked the link, the pink box indicated re-inviting the [email protected] to the group;

Make sure you have sent an invite to your group for the user [email protected]. We will send you an email once we've received and accepted an invite. If this message hasn't been updated within 6 hours of you sending your invite, please send another one. This notice will be updated when we have received your invite.

Charlie -- That's correct...there is no straightforward way to insert attachments or images to messages already in the message archive. The best you can do reliably is hosting the missing object in your files area and insert its URL.

Please understand that those messages have already gone out as emails, so if subscribers really need access to a missing photo or document it's best to post a new message anyway. Your situation is unusual in that the photo was deleted by accident, by the logic behind disabling such a feature remains.?

Bruce

I would love to see this feature added to the calendar also. It is a common event occurrence and would be very helpful.?

There is no insert photo button, but you can insert one manually.? You need a raw image file if you want it stored in the message.? Copy/paste it into the message.? You should be able to tell if it will work by using the Preview button.? I'm not sure if a member could do this, though they should be able to.

Has anyone been able to add photos to an album via the API? #api

Eric di Domenico

I've been trying to import some photos into a group and I keep getting a permissions error when trying to upload the actual photos.

Creating and deleting albums works perfectly.

Has anyone managed to upload pictures using the API?

You *have* upgraded your destination group to the Premium Yearly payment plan, right?

Yahoo Transfer #transfer

I tried to execute the Yahoo transfer process more than a month ago. I have, on multiple occasions, invited the email in the instructions to the Yahoo Group (ie steps 10-11-12), but with no response. I cannot find a way to contact someone at IO to help with this. We are a paid group and want to preserve our records before any final dispensation from Yahoo before the end of the year. Help?

Bottom line is that you really need to host the image somewhere else if you want to ensure the desired behavior. Again, see?/g/GroupManagersForum/topic/31532132#16547

Insert Image While Editing Message #editmemberemail #images

Hello,

I have searched for this but can find no direct reference to it with regard to messages.

I accidentally erased an inserted (not attached) photo while editing a message.? (It happened to be my own message, but I don't think it matters.)? I could see no option to re-insert the image during editing.? Is this correct, or am I missing something?

Many thanks,
Charlie

Good Morning,

I am a moderator for a newly transferred Yahoo group, and have been tasked by our Admin to determine if there is a way to customize the default categories on the left of the page, such as renaming the "Files" link, or if there is the ability to Add other categories? I have been unable to find anything that would indicate this is possible. The main reason is that we had quite a few "Links" in the old Yahoo group and would like to replicate those in a "Links" folder in our new group.

If this is not possible...wondering the best options available. I did see where many folks have added links to the Wiki area, and wonder if this is the best approach that has been found for this, or if it is possible to put them in the "Files" area as well.

All input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ann

That, I'm afraid, is because it isn't.

Those links should have turned up in the Database section.

I've just done a quick test and the URL for an individual image doesn't work without being logged in. Attempting it brings up a log - in page, which once completed reveals the individual image.

Gilbert,

Ooooh, I tried putting in an img in the description and it came out
great. I was able to reference an image in the photos section.
You might want to double-check that the image is visible to a member who receives the notification or reminder by email, and is not logged in to Groups.io (or is not using a web-based email interface).

I'm thinking that such an URL might be unavailable if one isn't logged in, because the Photos section is normally a members-only function. But I don't know if Groups.io enforces that rule at the level of the image URLs, or only on the page URLs.

Not really. You can embed an <img> tag for a photo hosted on another site and have it show up in the Event Description, but if the photo is subsequently moved or deleted a broken link will show instead. The process is kinda weird and unreliable, see /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/31532132#16547 for details. I don't know if it would work for a PDF or any other data type. If you try it, please report back on what you find out.
Ooooh, I tried putting in an img in the description and it came out great. I was able to reference an image in the photos section.

1) Find the photo in your photos section, and right-click on the download tab (I¡¯m in Firefox), which let¡¯s me ¡°copy link¡±
2) Strip everything off the end from the ¡°?¡± that link, and you have the URL of the image.
3) Edit the calendar event, go advanced, and source code, and put in <img src=¡°/g/yourgroup/photo/nnnnnn/n/photoname.jpg¡±/>. (or whatever)

If you make a ¡°flyer¡± for your event, it looks pretty good.
