Hi, The good news is that businesses that are already GDPR compliant will have no issues with the new California Law (CCPA), according to this article :- By the way, I am not a lawyer. Please consult a lawyer if you are not sure of your need to comply with any of these new laws - GDPR since May 2018 and CCPA in January 2020. John Russell |

How do I Import a list of links from y!g to a Database ? Done it before! I have previously built/imported data for Links databases on three groups transfered from y!g to Gio. OK. [ normally I will build a spreadsheet, Save As a .csv and Import ] I can import a .csv into columns more or less successfully, but links are not clickable . ok . I can build a database of clickable URLs manually, row by row. ok I cannot now figure out how to Import data to fill a Links database. Has something changed? or have I lost the plot? You have got the GDPR thing slightly wrong. GDPR requires the ability for a user to REQUEST removal of messages. They do, however, have the right to request that Groups.io stop distributing it, and when they request it, the request must be met, unless there is a legally valid reason to deny the request.? So... if users can always request this, and if their requests always have to be met, then I think it's just common sense (from an administrative perspective) to give users that ability directly.? Sorry mate. You have got the GDPR thing slightly wrong. GDPR requires the ability for a user to REQUEST removal of messages. It does Not require users ability to remove messages personally.

What format would the import use?We can only speculate that it would probably be some variant of MBOX, but since no automated process exists yet to import from Mailman, it's anyone's guess what format Mark (Groups.io's main developer) will choose to support if and when he develops such a feature.? It would be best to wait until the [email protected]?address becomes responsive again.? Your request sounds like it's going to be a custom job. How would the initial list subscriptions be imported??For non-automated processes, the usual options are either (a) send invitations or (b) add directly. For sending invitations, no premium membership is required.? You basically paste all addresses in the form on the web (all addresses at once), and press a button to submit, and Groups.io does the rest (you may wish to set up member notices beforehand, though).? For direct adding, you need at least a 1-month premium membership, but it works the same way: you paste all addresses in the form on the web, and press a button to submit them. The automated process that is used with Yahoogroups imports the membership list automatically, but it's impossible to know if Mark will do that if he writes an automated process for Mailman, too. There is currently no manual option available for importing list archives. Some groups have decided to make their archives available as text or HTML files in the Files section of the group, but that means that members can't search the archives unless they download them first.? In your situation, I'd suggest that you wait a month or two to see if you can get a reply from Mark. Samuel |
Re: Help for a potential new Groups.io account

Jenine,
The person I¡¯m working with has contacted the support link listed inAt the moment, the surprise turmoil with Yahoo Groups is consuming most of support's resources, so that's probably why. Has anyone imported larger Mailman lists and sublists with or withoutI believe the answer to this is yes, but the last time I remember hearing about it was at least a year or two ago. How would the initial list subscriptions be imported? The easiest way would be with an upgrade to Premium, then you can paste (or upload) the entire address list into the Direct Add page. /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Direct-Add-Members Then of course what¡¯s the process for importing the list archives? That's the trick. There is no user driven or automated way to do that from anything but a Yahoo Group (at the moment). The past references involved passing the message archive to support for import to the Groups.io group. Which... is probably something that won't be entertained until the turmoil settles down. What format would the import use?For the archives, an mbox file containing the messages is the only format that's been mentioned. I am happy to pass these responses on to him but is there a way heAs Frances said, there are no special requirements for joining GMF, and our messages and wiki are publicly readable so no subscription or account required to browse. Glenn B.,
I hope Groups.io is listening at some point. Sounds like severalNope. GMF is purely user to user, no Groups.io employees here. That said, I think we need to resolve whether there's a bug or just a misunderstanding, and if a bug clarify how to reproduce it, before reporting anything to support.
