One of the problems now is that yahoo is all over the place with what it allows or disallows at any given moment.? One group I'm trying to move currently won't let moderators issue invitations even though it always has in the past.? Yet another group won't let the owner into her own group so she can change the settings. Another group sometimes labels moderators as moderators and an hour later calls them owners--so if you can catch the right flip-flop, you can do it.

Removing the Blue or Red Bounce Indicators
#bouncedemails
I recently migrated a group from Yahoo and am going through the membership list to fix the bouncing email addresses.? I notice that even after I do so, and a bounce probe is successfully delivered, the blue or red bounce indicator remains on the member's entry.
Given that I have provided a new email address that works, I think that the bounce indicator should then go away.? But I continue to see numerous blue and red indicators, which makes it hard to zero in on the addresses that are actually still bouncing.? I have to access each such member and review the email delivery history. If the bounce indicator is on, does this mean that no email is being delivered?? This does not make sense if an new email address has been provided and bounce probed successfully.? I would like the system to take note that a new email address was provided, and to reset the bounce indicator. Is there a way to easily and predictably reset the bouncing status?? Or does this need to be an enhancement request? |
Checking transfer status of group I co-own
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI asked yesterday how I can check the progress of our group transfer from yahoo.? I co own a group.? The other owner paid the fee.? Now he is in the hospital or at least unavailable.? We initiated the payment and request just before the fee increase.? We have seen no progress to indicate that anything has been done.? Someone mentioned a couple of weeks ago that the info had probably already been grabbed from yahoo but the upload to groups.io was the holdup.? The natives are starting to get restless so is there any way to see what is in the list?? Even to know numbers (how many are on the non priority list, how many are done in an average day, etc) would be helpful in reassuring the list members that it will happen before the deadline.I found it very odd that a co-owner can't see the transfer progress if that owner was not the one that paid the fee and initiated the transfer request.? Has that been asked/mentioned in beta? Thank you. Jim |
Gmail problem
Hello,?
I have started several groups with??two of which I have paid the $220 to transfer. Suddenly I noticed that the ones I started with my Gmail address have disappeared. I am the only owner of these groups and was owner through myGmail address this means I have no access to management of the groups. I am getting email to approve the first posts of members, but cannot access the management icon. I get mail from the io.groups which I also joined with my?bellsouth email account. but none through the groups with gmail accounts. I had to resubscribe to this group to be able to send this email, though I have been a member for months.? ?
Also, it has been a couple weeks since I paid for one group to transferred and I can not find any record of the status, but they took my money.
What are my options? Thanks, Please help me, |
Rescrapeing Queries
One of my groups with about 70,000 messages was transferred and the after action report showed perhaps a score of messages not transferred because of Ysahoo issues.
I've looked up thr message numbers and they are present on Yahoo still. I believe it's possible to retransfer just the messages. Queries: Is it necessary to delete the entire message file on Groups.io ? What happens to the messages received by Groups.io in the interim between group startup and the new transfer? At the moment, those messages seem to be assigned a new number series series, starting at #1. For example, suppose a Yahoo group had 5000 messages at the time of scraping, and 5 messages were received at the Groups group in the interim between foundation and upload, the message sequence would look like: #4997 #4998 #4999 #5000 #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #5001 #5002 #5003 After? the rescraping and reload, would the #1 to #5 be lost? Thank you. ========================= |
M K Ramadoss wrote PG4? Offline is the only solution. Hurry up and get everything downloaded before Yahoo falls apart. Already intermittent problems reported. But Andrea asked for a transfer to Groups.io. Right now there is no path from a PG4 download to Groups.io. Wilson Logan is working on a way to upload the PG4 information, but it's not quite ready for prime time. Best to get the PG4 download completed and wait until it's ready. That's my plan. Larry |

Re: Members being auto-approved regardless of 'approval required' setting
well, well, well. Thank you. [insert image of open-palm head smack here...]
I did not realize the activity log was there. And indeed, another moderator approved the request. Thanks so much! I will see if there is a way to close this thread, after I hit send, to prevent others from spending any time on this. Thanks again! Tina |

Hello, Many greetings |
problem with Display Names in subgroups
I am the owner of [email protected], Montgomery County Maryland Master Gardeners.? We have just begun to use and have run into a problem with Display Names in Subgroups.
? The owner of the [email protected] site is <similar Gmail email address>? I am logged into this account when I do my work on the site.? I have the main group and two subgroups.? In the main group, if someone neglects to fill in their Display Name, I can edit it and fill in their name for them.? However, I cannot edit the Display Name in either of my Subgroups even though I am OWNER in both Subgroups as well.? The Display Name simply is not editable in the Subgroups.? Is there a reason for this?? I am logged in as the OWNER of the main site and this owner also owns the Subgroups. Thanks for any help you can provide. |
Members being auto-approved regardless of 'approval required' setting
I have the settings for my group set up such that folks wanting to join need to be approved. What is in fact occurring is they ask to subscribe, and then an hour or so later that are automatically approved. Anyone know what I may be doing wrong, or if there is currently some sort of system bug??
Thanks, Tina |

Eric -- What you suggest is feasible. See also?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Renaming-a-Group?for some impacts of renaming that perhaps you haven't though of. This can lead to subsequent member management headaches if the structure of your primary- and sub-group membership does not naturally follow that convention. With that in mind, I'm not sure why it's necessary to have a separate "members" subgroup, unless the people serving on the board are not members.? Regards, Bruce |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýNow one last detail before I make a proposal to the boss. Is it possible to change the name of a group? Here¡¯s the problem. ? The primary group is currently known as NAIAandNAIATrustMembers.?? The name of the other group (so far not converted) is NAIATrustBoard. ? It would make sense the use NAIAandNAIATrust as the domain (I think it would be called) and then use Members and Board as the two sub-groups. ? Feasible? ? Eric ?
