If you don't see the Private button below the text box (for writing), then you don't have your group set up to allow replies to the sender. (I think someone mentioned this earlier.) Go to Admin, Settings, scroll down to Message Policies. Untick Remove Other Reply Options Removes links on the website and digest to reply options other than your selected Reply To option.
I won't tackle reply from your email. I use the footers. Sometimes I click on Reply in my Apple Mail program. It goes to the right place - the group. Frances ? -- FAQ on Moving from YahooGroups GMF Wiki: (unofficial) Help for members (and would-be members) and group managers |

What should occur is that the button at lower left (which is used to actually send the reply) toggles between a green "Reply to Group" button and a blue "Reply to Sender" button with each click of the "Private" button. As for posts in emails, reply to sender opens a new window, instead of just putting sender's name in to box.? Is this me or the way it's set up?The footer reply link is a fairly straightforward mailto:. Whether such a link opens in a new window depends on the settings of your PC/email client. Bruce |

Wayne -- "Reply to Group" is no doubt the reply-to setting of the group. This is the default when setting up a new group. I'm struggling to make sense of this one. Are you talking about your own email client? If so, you didn't tell us what software you are using. Online instructions:? Just click Reply, then look for a "Private" button at the bottom right of the editor window. Click on that button to toggle between "reply to group" and "reply to sender." It may appear to be "greyed out" and inactive, but it works. Email Client Instructions: Click on the "reply to sender" button in the message footer, or simply Forward the message to the sender's email address instead of using the Reply function. If this button (or footer link) does not appear at all, go to Admin>Settings>Messages Policies and UNcheck the box that says "Remove Other Reply Options." Be sure to save your changes. At that point the footer link should begin to show up on any subsequent group messages you receive. Hope this helps, Bruce |
Unable to reply to just the sender
I am having difficulty responding ONLY to the sending on posting from groups.io?
If I click on reply, it replies to the whole group.
If I click on the stack of bars to the right of that, then click on reply to sender, it still replies to all.
Have I missed a setting in the group or not understanding how to reply?
Thank you! We are loving new platform.

Re: Donation question
Fabien,
Following on from Bruce's comment. An option I've considered (and briefly tested) is to set up a 'paypal.me' link. This would allow you to paste a link in to your Wiki page (e.g. put a pic in the page, select it and insert URL link) which when clicked will take the clickee to the 'pay' page. Seems to work ok. Word of warning; something I missed, and evidently many others, is that you only get one choice of 'paypal.me' name per paypal account, so choose wisely if you want to use it for something else in future. Once chosen, it?cannot be changed or aliased. Derek |
Re: Unable to post to my group
I have the same problem (see below).
I could imagine, that a part of the cause is that my groups.io account runs in my private mail account "...@...". But I am send this mail (with my private from-address) from the office, where I use the mailserver "smtp.my-office-domain.com". So the from address and the address of the delivering mailserver is different. At least I don't have the problem when sending the mails from my home. I know that the error message reports a different problem, but it would not be the first time, that an error message does not report the original cause, but a follow up problem. Re: Missing Transfer
Joe,
Do have a question: In the pink section at the top of that window,It is a user that needs to be invited to your Yahoo group, and then promoted to Moderator. That moderator position is how Groups.io gains access to your Yahoo Group's content. I absolutely do not understand. Obviously.Stay Calm Don't Panic Just Follow the Instructions Have a read through GMF's wiki article. It has step-by-step details and screen shots which should substantially clarify matters for you: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups Let us know if there's anything in that article that needs clarification. Re: How to approve "pending" members imported from YG?
Gina,
The number 5 comes from the number of people participating in the newI don't know what was normal in the Yahoo Group. A high lurker to current participant ratio isn't all that uncommon. I'm a little surprised that it doesn't "snowball" based on people replying to the posts that are being made. I suppose it makes sense to double-check the Members list (at Groups.io) to see what delivery the transferred members typically have. If they were mostly No Email lurkers in your Yahoo Group that could be part of the problem. Yes, I sent a message to the Yahoogroup.I'd send that message to the Groups.io group. Depending on the nature of your group, maybe take a jovial / cajoling stance to it. "Well, a few of you have joined in, Thanks! The rest of you lurking out there, please join in!" Or, if you can identify a few individual members who were recently active in the Yahoo Group, but have "gone silent", you could try contacting them off-list to see if they can tell you why. Nope, only have 1 email address and login for GIO. How do I initiate a transfer? I thought I did. It is paid for, so should be in the records, somewhere.

Possibly you were logged in using a different email address when you set up the Heathkit transfer. You can only see the transfers you set up with the account you are currently logged in with. Or, as Bruce suggested, perhaps you didn't actually initiate a transfer for that group. Re: New members trying to join by email: what did I not tell them?
Brian,
Besides emailing [GroupName][email protected] what did I forgetAfter they send in their +subscribe command Groups.io will reply with a request for confirmation. The person must receive, read, and respond to that confirmation request. If not, the subscribe command has no effect. It doesn't even get logged in the group's Activity log. Which I've argued is a bug, or at least a mistake, but that's how it currently is. So tell them to keep their eyes open for that confirmation request. Including in their Inbox, Spam or even Trash folder. How did my lucky sole member manage to do it?Probably noticed the confirmation request in their Inbox, and followed the instructions.
