Re: Resending invites with Customized message

Karen,

Also, How do I get a copy of the invite that went out, so I can verify
everytihing was done as expected?
I have a spare email address that I include in every batch of Invites (or Direct Adds). I remove the address from the group later.

Similarly, if I want to change the moderation setting for all members, I don't appear to be able to select all, just 20 at a time?

No, that's the way it works.? It's not clearly stated on the transfer page, but elsewhere you're told that links will be copied into databases.? If you don't want to use them in a database, you can create a Wiki page or file for them.

I'm one of the many who have moved from Yahoo Groups.

a) I now have 1000+ members that are set to Moderated after first post. Unmoderating them one at a time seems .. painful, so there has to be a better way?

b) I don't want new users to be moderated. Is there a path to this? I want people to be able to join, and then not be moderated. That was a choice for us in Yahoo Groups, and it was never a problem.

thanks!

Hello Francis,
Thank you so much for your suggestions. The problem is, I am completely blind, and rely on a screen reader. Not sure how I can change the background color for the text.
Thanks,
Fabien

Re: Posting my group link

GMF guidelines say:
Solicitations are off topic and will be deleted without comment. Listing your groups in your signature is perfectly acceptable, but just make sure there's also on-topic content in your post.

So, sorry, you can't just post about your group here.

Look at this thread about growing a group.

Posting my group link

Fabien

Hello everyone,
I was wondering, if it is OK if I can post my group link on here, so more people can know about it. Also, maybe some suggestions on how to make it easier to find for anyone else. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Blessings,
Fabien

Since we didn't use Database, I didn't transfer it.? It was disabled.? Enabling it displayed all the Links, which had transferred.? Sounds like a bug to me. Disable Database disables links and that's not stated anywhere prior to the Transfer process.

I just tested and if you use the resend invitation, it sends the same message. Not even when I changed it in Settings, Member Notices. However if I put the same email address in the LEFT invite tab, the updated invitation goes through. (There is a dropdown menu - I am not sure whether it is necessary but I think I chose Invite.
When I go back to the invites page, customized message is no longer showing.? Can we make it stick? so that it has to be actively changed, rather than automatically erased?? ?Or do all those resent invitations really just look like the first one they got - which would not be helpful.
Add the customized content in Settings, Member Notices for Invite (use the dropdown menu to choose) and scroll down to save.

Well, not the whole message, but I did see the few words I added to customize the message. It was in Admin, Activity, Moderator Activity.?

Hope this helps.

Shal, you may be right.? ?After around 7 emails from her, the last one said she got confirmation.??

I just got the Subscription Approval needed email, also.? Whew!??

I feel like I've wasted your time with so much going on, but I was really out of my league.? So, thank you for your fast responses, and so glad things worked out for her.??

I wouldn't think there would be any activity until she was put into the pending members.? She hadn't even gotten that far.

Re: Many complaining post not going through

Hi

Have you checked Activity?
Go to Admin, Activity.
You can also check for a specific member through Member in Admin. Click on anywhere, but not the checkbox.?

And as Shal just mentioned to someone else,
Another possibility is that her email service is delaying delivery of the confirmation notices as an anti-spam measure.

The screen they get will be similar to the one you used to pay for your upgrade.

Yes, just type in the numbers and other information like you would on any site.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Can the credit card data be entered from a keyboard or keypad, or does the donor have to have a Stripe scanner?

No, they just need a credit card.

Question about donations: does donor need a Stripe account?

Friends,

Now that my little group got transferred today I'd like to figure out how to use GIO's donations feature for Premium accounts.? Several of my members have said they regret that I'm out of pocket (though to the tune of just $110...I beat the price hike!) for our switch.

Here's my question:? the donations page (pasted below) says "in order to accept donations, you will need to have a Stripe account."? Fine, I'll need one; but does the donor need one too?? Frankly I'm guessing "yes."? I expect that PayPal and frumpy old checks will be more popular with my membership, which is okay.? Thanks in advance for your help.

You can ask for donations from your group. Here's what you need to know:
  • We use??to accept credit card payments. In order to accept donations, you will need to have a Stripe account.
  • Clicking the?Connect with Stripe?button will take you to a page to create a new Stripe account or connect an existing Stripe account. Stripe accounts are free.
  • Once you've connected a Stripe account, you will be able to create donation requests and your members will be able to donate using a credit card.
  • The Groups.io processing fee is 5%, which includes all credit card processing fees.
  • When you create a donation request, it is considered open, which means that members can submit donations. You can close donations when they are complete.

Re: Yahoo member having trouble subscribing to my groups.io group

Jan,

"I tried three different browsers and never got the confirmation
email. ... I have checked my spam folders, but there¡¯s nothing
there."
Odd as it may sound, people do sometimes typo (or brain-o) their own email address when entering it into the web site. You might ask her to double-check that she hasn't any extra or missing characters, or spaces in what she entered.

Another possibility is that her email service is delaying delivery of the confirmation notices as an anti-spam measure.

I don't remember if the confirmation email is tracked for delivery issues the way messages are. If she's showing in your group's Members List as NC you might try opening her page and checking the Email Delivery History tab to see if it offers any clues.

Many complaining post not going through

Many users in my group are saying that their posts do not go through on first attempt, but go through next time. Their posts are not moderated. Would like to know the reason.
