I just tested and if you use the resend invitation, it sends the same message. Not even when I changed it in Settings, Member Notices. However if I put the same email address in the LEFT invite tab, the updated invitation goes through. (There is a dropdown menu - I am not sure whether it is necessary but I think I chose Invite.
When I go back to the invites page, customized message is no longer showing.? Can we make it stick? so that it has to be actively changed, rather than automatically erased?? ?Or do all those resent invitations really just look like the first one they got - which would not be helpful.
Add the customized content in Settings, Member Notices for Invite (use the dropdown menu to choose) and scroll down to save.

Also, How do I get a copy of the invite that went out, so I can verify everytihing was done as expected?

Well, not the whole message, but I did see the few words I added to customize the message. It was in Admin, Activity, Moderator Activity.?

Hope this helps.

Shal, you may be right.? ?After around 7 emails from her, the last one said she got confirmation.??

I just got the Subscription Approval needed email, also.? Whew!??

I feel like I've wasted your time with so much going on, but I was really out of my league.? So, thank you for your fast responses, and so glad things worked out for her.??

I wouldn't think there would be any activity until she was put into the pending members.? She hadn't even gotten that far.

Re: Many complaining post not going through

Hi

Have you checked Activity?
Go to Admin, Activity.
You can also check for a specific member through Member in Admin. Click on anywhere, but not the checkbox.?

And as Shal just mentioned to someone else,
Another possibility is that her email service is delaying delivery of the confirmation notices as an anti-spam measure.

The screen they get will be similar to the one you used to pay for your upgrade.

Yes, just type in the numbers and other information like you would on any site.

Can the credit card data be entered from a keyboard or keypad, or does the donor have to have a Stripe scanner?

No, they just need a credit card.

Question about donations: does donor need a Stripe account?

Friends,

Now that my little group got transferred today I'd like to figure out how to use GIO's donations feature for Premium accounts.? Several of my members have said they regret that I'm out of pocket (though to the tune of just $110...I beat the price hike!) for our switch.

Here's my question:? the donations page (pasted below) says "in order to accept donations, you will need to have a Stripe account."? Fine, I'll need one; but does the donor need one too?? Frankly I'm guessing "yes."? I expect that PayPal and frumpy old checks will be more popular with my membership, which is okay.? Thanks in advance for your help.

You can ask for donations from your group. Here's what you need to know:
  • We use??to accept credit card payments. In order to accept donations, you will need to have a Stripe account.
  • Clicking the?Connect with Stripe?button will take you to a page to create a new Stripe account or connect an existing Stripe account. Stripe accounts are free.
  • Once you've connected a Stripe account, you will be able to create donation requests and your members will be able to donate using a credit card.
  • The Groups.io processing fee is 5%, which includes all credit card processing fees.
  • When you create a donation request, it is considered open, which means that members can submit donations. You can close donations when they are complete.

Re: Yahoo member having trouble subscribing to my groups.io group

Jan,

"I tried three different browsers and never got the confirmation
email. ... I have checked my spam folders, but there¡¯s nothing
there."
Odd as it may sound, people do sometimes typo (or brain-o) their own email address when entering it into the web site. You might ask her to double-check that she hasn't any extra or missing characters, or spaces in what she entered.

Another possibility is that her email service is delaying delivery of the confirmation notices as an anti-spam measure.

I don't remember if the confirmation email is tracked for delivery issues the way messages are. If she's showing in your group's Members List as NC you might try opening her page and checking the Email Delivery History tab to see if it offers any clues.

Many complaining post not going through

Many users in my group are saying that their posts do not go through on first attempt, but go through next time. Their posts are not moderated. Would like to know the reason.

Is there a way to clone the existing group (obviously without its
members, files, etc.), or to export some or all of its settings so that
I can import those settings into the new group when I create it?

Thanks
Samuel
Basically what I would do is just have side-by-side different browsers

Re: Small Group Awaiting Transfer Since October 28th #transfer

I am assuming you sent the invitation FROM YahooGroups.

You should check your status. Pay attention to (a). You probably have to resend your invitation. (There had been some problems with YahooGroups, but solved a few days ago.)

Here's how:

8. How do I check the transfer status?
?
Transfers are queued up when you first set it up and processed in that order until you get to Step 5.?
?
At that point they are re-ordered based on when the transfer go-ahead is given and uploaded to groups.io in that order (unless you pay $200 for priority service).
?
When you click on the green "Set Up New Transfer" button at bottom left of the Yahoo groups transfer page (/yahootransfer), a new page will come up where you can enter the source and destination group names.?
?
There is also a series of checkboxes for the various areas of the group to transfer (files, photos, members, messages, etc). Simply uncheck the ones you don't want before clicking the "Start New Transfer Process" button.
?
(a) If you've already started a transfer:
?
Go to the Yahoo transfer page at /yahootransfer
?
Select the transfer you want to check status on from "Existing Transfers" at lower right (i.e.: click on the name)
?
The box at the top of the resulting page will tell you the status of that transfer.
?
Repeat for any other transfers you may have in progress.
?
?- if the status is the message that starts "Make sure you have sent an invite to your group":
?
This means that Groups.io has not received your invite yet and that you should send another one. They will send you an email once they have received and accepted an invite. If this message hasn't been updated within 6 hours of you sending your invite, please send another one. This notice will be updated when they ?have received your invite.?
?
(b) For transfers that are actually approved and in progress, see where you are in the queue:
?
When you go to edit your transfer, if it's been submitted for transfer, you'll now see one of these 4 status lines:
?
Your group is awaiting export from Yahoo. [Stage 1 of 4]
Your group is being exported from Yahoo right now. [Stage 2 of 4]
Your group is awaiting import into Groups.io. There are about N groups ahead of it in the queue. [Stage 3 of 4] **
Your group is being imported into Groups.io right now. [Stage 4 of 4]
?
** Where N in Stage 3 is an estimate as to where you are in the queue. i.e. Your group is about 70th in the queue right now.
?
Stage 4 is the biggest bottleneck, as I can only import so many groups at a time without overloading the system. I can't give an estimate as to how long each group takes to be imported, because each group is different (how many photos, how many messages, etc). Also it's dependent on how many groups have requested expedited processing at the time.

It can't be done.? Each person can choose the format they prefer to see in their Account.? Click on your name at the upper right of a page, select Account.? Choose the Preferences page, third item down is Date Format.? Scroll down and Update Preferences.? You can also preset this for new members under the Default Sub Settings button on your group Settings page.

Small Group Awaiting Transfer Since October 28th #transfer

Good evening,

We are a small group and are trying to transfer from Yahoo Groups. ?We created our groups.io group called [email protected], upgraded to Premium, and then sent the invite to [email protected]?on October 28th. ?As of this writing, we have not received the message that groups.io accepted the invitation to join our Yahoo Group called rockcreekforest@.... ?I sent an email yesterday to [email protected]?asking for a status update but received no response. I welcome any assistance you can provide.

Re: How to change date format

Date format is in your own account.
On your group homepage, go to your name in the top right corner, to account. Choose preferences. A dropdown menu with three choices. Be sure to save.

Has she tried to login?

/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Logging-In

And have you checked her activity??
Go to Admin, Members, her name/email address - click anywhere in it - not the check box.
Several buttons - activity history, email delivery (to see bounces).
