Strange behavior
Never had it work this way before:
Today, I (owner of a group) received the Subscription Approval Needed email. I clicked on the link to 'View Pending Member' and Chrome opened up to the prospective member's listing. I clicked on 'Approve' and was taken to the membership list page. So far, so good. BUT... that list only showed 5 members: The member I just approved, the first member that signed up with the group before the transfer which was in February, 2018, myself and two moderators. So I followed the following sequence: 'Your Groups>(my group)>Admin>Members and the list shows the 978 members I expected to see, but not the new member I just approved.? Is this just a symptom of the overwhelmed servers or does this seem like a bug I should watch for a few days to see if it clears up and if not, report to support? And one other thing that's not important on our group, but details of how things work always intrigue me, the actual request email came late last night (11/1) and even though I approved it today (11/2), the joined date on that new member that only showed up on the first abbreviated member list was 11/1. Is it always the case that the joined date is the date they applied and not the date they are approved? Dave |

Had they done so you would have had a blizzard of notofications about them all. Just visiting a Home Page does not make people members. They actually gave to go through the process of joining. You're thinking of "Special Announcements". That's a totally different animal and not what you want. If you?want a group where you and everyone else can post after they're unmoderated, set it up the way Frances described (quoted below).
?
* To change this, go to Admin, Settings. In Spam Control, make sure that Announcement Group isn't ticked.
* Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the page and update to save. Don't worry about hashtags and such. It sounds like they'll just confuse you.

Forgive me if I continue to seek clarity. ?I understand what you both are saying about how to make this go away but, I'm beginning to believe that I do not understand what an "Announcement" means. ?In other groups, when composing a new Topic, I recall an option to mark it as an Announcement. ?I actually never know exactly what that means but never thought that I wanted every member to be able to send out an Announcement. ?So, that is what I was seeking to accomplish here. If I'm not making this clear, I will just drop it but would like to understand. Gene ?

New Group Settings

Hi ¨C I have just started a new? group in Groups.io called Stamps of Great Britain as our Yahoo group is closing. I found the set up process quite easy, or so I thought. Uploaded Photos, files and a welcome message etc and invited just two members to join as a test, before inviting the other one hundred or so. Unfortunately they reported back saying they could not access the messages or topics and on the left hand side the features like photo¡¯s, files, hashtag, data base etc were not shown on the screen.Clearly I have not set up the groups settings correctly and after spending very many hours checking and rechecking, I can not find out what I have done wrong. Please can you help John |

Susan -- You are now in the queue for import. This means that your Yahoo group has already been exported/saved. I hope this helps, because I don't know how to make it any more clear than that! Regards, Bruce *Can't add much else but messages and subscribers now, since Oct 28 has come and gone. |

You can use "special notice" feature that only goes from owner / moderator.Just wanted to point out that Special Notices go to all group members, except those with "No Mail" subscription settings. These do go to members who have opted for Special Notices Only in their subscription. That's why I don't permit "No Mail" subscriptions in my groups. But I am careful about abusing Special Notices, sending them infrequently. I Can't Get My Group To Begin Transfer From Yahoogroups
So I got this message in my e-mail back on October 29: Hello, By inviting [email protected] to join your group firsttedneeleylist@..., you have taken the first step towards transfering your group to Groups.io. ? IMPORTANT: Yahoo Groups has been very unreliable lately. We will do our very best, but there is a good chance that we may not be able to transfer all of your messages, photos or files. We will tell you which ones we were not able to transfer. Also, the migration queue is several days long at this point. Please be patient as we work through the backlog of tranfer requests. Here is what you need to do next:
If you have any questions, please contact [email protected]. Cheers, |

I must be missing something.Yes I suspect that you are correct. What are you trying to achieve? If you wish to download a photo from an archive it is not necessary to click on Edit first. That aside, after downloading a photo all you need do is click the back button on your browser (is that what you were referring to when you said click my back arrow at the top of my server company (AOL)) and it will return you to the view you had immediately prior to clicking on Download. Another back click will take you up a level to the Album in which the photo resides and so on. It is perfectly straightforward. Chris |

I Can't Get My Group To Begin Transfer From Yahoogroups
I'm Cindi. I own First Ted Neeley List. I am trying to get my group in line to transfer from Yahoogroups, but I have no idea how to accomplish this. I upgraded the group, but now I can't add the transfer address as a moderator - it comes up invalid. Now groupsio is suggesting that I re-upgrade. What do I do to get this in motion so I don't lose everything? Is there a? PHONE NUMBER I can call to get this in gear? I'm not a true computer geek, so I'm lost in a lot of translation. Can someone PLEASE, please help me? Thank you, Cindi |
How to get out of the download photo in groups.io
I must be missing something.? When I go to a photo in an album and I click on Edit and go down to the bottom and click on download, up comes the photo (which is great).? After I right click and do the Save as, I'm at a loss as to how to get out of the photo itself.? There is no "X" to click on .? No "back".? No column on the left side to click on Photos again.? The only way I've found to get out of that state is to click my back arrow at the top of my server company (AOL).
What am I missing?? There has to be a way to get out of the photo and back to the photo picture in the album.? Or at least back out of that one download screen itself.? I even just click on the photo a second time to see if it took me out - nope. Help!! Sincerely, Rli@... |
