Re: Transferring a bunch of tiny groups
$220?? Don't you mean $110?? I've submitted requests to my little group's treasurer for the $110.

I've been trying to get in touch with Mark since last week to get a multiple-list rate, but my original email to support@ got a response (which might be an auto-responder), suggesting to join this managers group, and my reply to that got the same response.. Does anyone have contact with Mark, and can get messages to him? (I was with eGroups since near the beginning.) Cal On 10/28/19 7:21 AM, Isidro Berniol wrote:

BT don't seem over - keen on doing anything about it.Given that this problem looks like rattling on without any clear indication that a resultion will be forthcoming I have made a telephone enquiry to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) which is the UK body charged with overseeing data protection. The initial assessment was that this misrouting of emails could well be within that office's remit as misrouting of this sort could result in a breach of the regulations, and I am aware of at least one instance whereby some considerable personal embarrassment arose because what was sent as a "private" communication (to a Group Owner) finished up being visible (albeit fairly briefly) on a group. I will get in contact with "someone else" (the person affected above) to see if he is willing to go down the ICO route. Chris |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDuane, ? Is the Split only available through moderation?? I have a similar situation but only see Edit topic and Lock topic, not Split. Without the Split option, if I change the Topic, does it change it for the whole thread? ? Trying to get up to speed on this new platform. Thank you, Vickie On Behalf Of Duane via Groups.Io |

Thanks Bruce. I uploaded it as a .prn file because that¡¯s how excel saved a space delimited file, maybe that was a problem. ?I may just end up cutting and pasting the whole thing instead so I can see it. ?I just expected an error message to pop up so I was confused as to what might have happened.

Re: Pleasure dealing with Groups.io
Our group that was started as a Yahoo group in 2002 migrated to groups.io in March 2018. It went so smoothly! We use almost every feature, have expanded membership significantly (about 1200 now), and have had very few glitches. I am so very pleased with groups.io.? Just recently when I noted a few things (hashtags, searches, for example) that are not working as usual, I came to this forum to see if others are experiencing the same issues. I see that there has been a major demand for transfers to groups.io that is taxing the system.? I am hopeful - confident - that things will get back to normal. The snafus are not affecting our most important functions.
Thanks for all you do everyone at groups.io. Ro |

Re: Narrow formatting in Digests?
Sandi,
But a lot of factors enter into how things are displayed. The problem is different in an email message. The Groups.io site is responsive, but attempting to build fully responsive code is probably impractical given what various email interfaces are willing to allow in an email body. Fortunately I think what Phil wants wouldn't require responsive coding. It would be enough for the style of the HTML not to set a fixed column width. This has been mentioned in beta previously. Phil could take it up there again, once the surge of Yahoo Group transfers is over. In the mean time, Phil might try the Plain Text digest. It won't have a fixed column width (nor any other formatting). Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |
Re: BT + problem leads to ghost registration
Ken,
I am trying to help someone join my Group, but they have a BT emailAs Chris said, that won't happen if they use their webmail interface rather than an SMTP client. Trying to avoid the email route I asked him to try and subscribe viaThat message says that he needs to use the Log In page, not the Sign Up page. He should believe what it is telling him. /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Logging-In which is clearly impossible as he is NOT a member, so his address isYour inference is incorrect. A membership (subscription) in a group is separate from whether the person's email address has been registered at Groups.io. A single address (account) can participate in multiple groups. And even if this person is not yet a member of any other groups, the account may exist as a result of prior attempts at joining a group. and there¡¯s no way he could ever have logged in previously and createdAgain incorrect. You, as a group owner, cannot tell if they have or not - all you know is whether they've joined your group. The account exists independent of any group memberships, and even independent of whether the person ever logs in to use it. Can anyone suggest how to clear this restriction or otherwise explainThe person needs to use the Log In page. On that page select either the "Forgot your password, or don't have one yet?" link or the "Email Link To Log In" button - both do the same thing. Once logged in to Groups.io, the person should be able to Join your group (or Request membership, if your group is restricted).
