Re: Finally!

Did any messages get transferred right away?? I transferred my group and got an email saying "Group Transfer Is Complete" but zero messages went over to the new groups.io group.? Just wondering if its a timing delay?? Can you let me know what your experience was?

When exactly do notifications go out to members that they've been transferred?

Sorry, I couldn't find this anywhere. Do email notifications go out to members when their profile has been transferred, or only after the entire transfer process of the whole group is complete? Thanks.

Attachment worked ok.

It looks like the formatting design is contained in the HTML code, to
fit nicely under the Groups IO graphic, which will be a fixed size. It's
not difficult to change this, but it's something Groups IO codewriters
will have to do.

A post in [email protected] would probably be more productive (or at least,
more likely to be seen by the right people).

I have not tried plaintext Digest, but I assume it wouldn¡¯t be
formatted narrow, since it won¡¯t be formatted at all.
You assume correctly. If a post isn't formatted by the sender, it won't
be formatted anywhere else until it reaches the reader.

Ah, so you mean via Gmail or equivalent¡ªinteresting. I wonder if those environments deliberately override the table width. I know that most Android clients don¡¯t scroll tables left/right in email; our corporate communications insists on sending announcements as tables, even though I¡¯ve told them ¡°I¡¯m not going to scroll left-right to read this one my phone, and you¡¯re presumably trying to communicate, so stop it¡±. iPhone mail does reflow tables. So there¡¯s something interesting going on there. I¡¯m not an HTML maven (and have no desire to be one), so have not investigated further.

Re: Is it possible to edit a subject? #messages

Yes, you can edit a subject. Go to her post on the group website, and use the dropdown menu.

You can also split or merge posts in a thread.?

I'd change the #Intro hashtag attributes so that it gets Locked as soon as it posts if you don't want responses to them.? If you do want responses, you could use the Moderated attribute so you'd need to approve them.

For this situation, you could Split the response to a new topic, giving it the subject line related to her, then lock that topic (and yours.)? (Edit Topic, Split, and Lock Topic are in the More menu below each message.)

Is it possible to edit a subject? #messages

Bee

Just a quick query -
After S etting up ¡°Intro¡± as a hashtag on my group, I then sent my own intro with the subject ¡°Abi #Intro¡± explaining how my (mainly elderly) members could go to the online group and create their own intro.

Almost immediately someone replied to the message with their own Intro - with the result her Intro is headed ¡°Abi #Intro¡± ?

Is there a way I can edit the subject on her reply to read her name, whilst retaining my own name in the subject of my original post? ?Otherwise searching for members¡¯ introductions is going to become very confusing!

Thanks!
Abi

ps. ?Just seen that posts to this group have tripled in the last month. ?Big shout out to all of those keeping up with the sudden influx of questions and being so patient with all us newbies! ?What a great job you¡¯re all doing - you have my gratitude!?

Yes, I tried all that, and I agree that it works just the way you described. ?Thanks for the confirmation!

Yes - it took mine a little over 24 hours.

Yes, there are many permissions that can be set (or not) for each moderator.? Rather than owner, you should make the additional people moderators and give them most permissions.? As long as you don't give them "Modify Group Settings" or "Set Moderator Privileges" you should get what you want.

2.? Can billing - be hidden from members and mods alike as "" the monetary information?should ?not? ?be seen by others""
???? If there is a way -??to hide this info please advise.
Only moderators or owners see that.? Moderators would need the "Billing" permission to see it.

3.? In sub groups,?? why is there a need for the member to be in both groups?? Main & sub.
???? both deal in separate graphic issues - the posts would be heavy indeed,,?
???? one group is 800 + members??? the other a small group -? 27.? The small group would be deluged with mail..
Being a member of the main group in order to join a subgroup is a function of the way Groups.io works.? To avoid this, you could create another group for the second, smaller group to make them totally independent.? Members can set their email preferences for each group and subgroup separately.? No need for members of the subgroup to get any messages from the main group if they don't want to.? They could set it to No Email if you allow that on your group or Special Notices if you don't.

As an aside, many of us have created an account for our group that only has member privileges so we can see what regular members see.? This can be handy when you have questions about things like this.

Well, for some functions you will probably have to wait forever owed to the huge volume of inquiries. So as far my groups are concerned, I found a temporary solution by creating a new member with owner adress (email and alias). So, if I want an owner message without my personal name showing up, I log in with this new member?s address. My moderators were provided with the new address and password as well, so they can use it if it is indicated.

Trouble with my group messages transfer

I setup and expedited a transfer of all our messages in our current Yahoo Group (no attachments, no photos, no members) over to Groups.io. I got an email saying ¡°messages¡± were transferred but when I went to the Group to which we specified everything be moved, there was zero old postings in there. Anyone else have this issue? What did I do wrong in my setup of either group or the transfer instructions that would prevent a single old Yahoo Group message from being ported over?
