Odd situation - Yahoo says transfer@ has accepted, status doesn't #transfer

 

What does this mean? I got emails from Yahoo saying that [email protected] had accepted invitations to both groups that I am getting transferred. But I have NOT yet received an email from Groups.io, nor does the transfer status indicate that it has been accepted. (i.e. it still reads "We've received the invite to your group and will accept it soon. There is no need to send another invite.")

Is it OK to go ahead and promote the user to Moderator on the Yahoo groups? Are any particular mod permissions needed?

when I went to give the go ahead? - it stated that I have to be a premium member- which I am albeit? at $110.00

There's no provision for importing data to a group here.? You can upload files and photos yourself though.? Take a peek at the instructions for doing a complete transfer at /g/GroupManagersForum/message/19673

The time the system creates one automatically is the first time one is needed, if you haven't created one yet. Not having any welcome message is different in that way from having one or more, but none active.

Yup. The Wiki page editor works much the same as the message composition for New Topic or Reply. One difference is that Enter is a paragraph break in the wiki, but a line break in messages. Shift+Enter is the opposite.

I believe that setting works for new uploaded photos; I don't know it
applies to the photos transferred from the Yahoo Group.

Is anyone certain of the answer?
It does, and I am. I had to make use of that fact when transferring one of my own groups (which had about 4.7 GB of photos at Yahoo).

The transfer agent downloads the images at full resolution from Yahoo, and then applies the setting as it copies them into your Groups.io group.

My first attempt at this. Some on the links on the wiki pages are blue
and some are gray. I have visited all the pages so that doesn't seem
to be the reason.
That is the reason.

The link coloring is a browser function that compares the URL of the link to your browsing history. The specific colors are set by the style sheet for the page. I'm not sure why some of your links are showing in non-visited color, it may be due to a page cache issue or maybe part of your history has been cleared.

Hi,

I've newly transferred my group from Yahoo. I notice that some of the home pages here include message history charts with a list of number of messges per month per year and some don't. How would I include that listing on my own homepage?

Tried to upload a few files to my group, but get a redirect to > myweb.accessus.net and says can not connect. Then when I cancel and go back to the group, all of the "buttons" show link to that site. Only way to get back to showing groups.io links is reload page.

Odd. I just uploaded a file in my test group. I am using Apple macOS 10.15 and Safari browser.
No problems.
I went to files, clicked on upload file. Used browse to find the document on my computer. I tried with a PDF. Clicked on Add. Clicked Notify Members. All right as rain.
Just uploaded a .docx. Since I have a Mac without Word, clicking on in the files area, it downloaded the document. Opened fine. The PDF opens in the browser.
I don't know what to suggest! Perhaps someone else can tell you, but it doesn't look like a Groups.io problem but perhaps your network?

Parts of that story from Yahoo are kind of right, but you might want to read Mark's own account of groups.io, which has been live for just over five years now:

A solution to identity issues is to purchase your own domain name and point it to what ever forum you wish. since you own the domain name and if you use correct domain settings they only thing the visitors will see is the domain name.? That is what we did.

Hello Duane,
Is it possible to do this after a group is transferred? Example after a group is transferred to IO you see total total data footprint on IO exceeds the group type ie: free vs premium max data allocation by some manageable amount.

Could the 'Max Size' then be run to reduce the total foot print of the group to bring it under the group type size max?

If so this could be a way to reduce data used without actually deleting any photos.

Yes, it's my own fault.? I signed up for the one month plan and then found I needed to sign up for the 1 year plan in order to do the transfer from my Yahoo group.? How do I change that?

I was asking about how the groups.io photo transfer process treats photos moved to groups.io. Are they moved at the resolution of the Yahoo Group photo or are they reduced to a lower resolution if, for example, the Max Size in Photos Section is set to a lower resolution, 1024 x 1024, for example.

That is, does the resolution limit in Settings set before transfer happens affect the size of transferred photos?

Are you sure of that? The Features | Photos | Max Size in Photos Section description reads, "Automatically resize photos uploaded to the photos section that are larger than a specific size."

That refers to photos uploaded; it does not say or imply "Transferred."

I believe that setting works for new uploaded photos; I don't know it applies to the photos transferred from the Yahoo Group.

Is anyone certain of the answer?
