You can check status as follows: Return to the Yahoo groups transfer page (/yahootransfer) and select the transfer you've initiated from the pull-down menu at bottom right. There should be a status banner at the top of the resulting page. Based on what you've told us, it should say something to the effect of "we have received your invitation and will accept it soon, there is no need to send another invite." If you see that, you're fine. If it says something else, come back here and tell us what it says. I know you're anxious to get this done, but be patient. There are probably 100 groups ahead of you in the queue...with 100 owners, all feeling the same way you do. You will receive the anticipated email soon.? Regards, Bruce |

Glenn,
Importantly, it has to work with every Mail User Agent (MUA) thatBingo. That's the core of the issue. In testing Mark discovered that many email interfaces would not use a body="text to put in the message body" parameter to the mailto: link. So for that reason, plus the fact that including it would make the link rather huge (in many cases), Mark decided not to include it. Pablo,Like Duane, I don't understand why one would think that the link would work with trimming and like Duane, I suggest in in Thunderbird (which I also use, version 60.9.0) that you do the mark and reply trick, as I have done here. The Reply-to-Group link looks like this for this thread: a target=3D"_blank" href=3D"mailto:[email protected]?subject===3DRe:%20Re%3A%20%5BGMF%5D%20Problem%20replying%20in%20Thunderbird%20using=%20message%20footer%20link%20%23reply-to-group">Reply To Group</a>That's an HTML encoded mailto link, no different really from a mailto link one might find on a contact page on some website. Importantly, it has to work with every Mail User Agent (MUA) that displays it, not just Thunderbird. Snipped responses are not, if I recall correctly, part of the IETF standard for MUAs, so that isn't how the mailto link behaves. In fact, I'm pretty sure the Gmail web UI doesn't support that. In short, it doesn't work because it's not supposed to work that way. Best, Glenn [excess quote, ad, and political sig trimmed by moderator] ? |

Trying to add [email protected] membership for a migration yahoo to groups.io...
It's been two years since I migrated a group from yahoo to groups.io .
Last time (per my old notes from Mark) the procedure starts with inviting [email protected]?to membership. Then when [email protected]?responds to the invite, make it a moderator. I have sent two invites in the last approximately 2 days, but [email protected]?has not joined the group yet. Am I missing something? Has the procedure changed? Do I just need to wait a while? I sent an email inquiring why no action on groups.io end yet, ?but so far all I got back was "Your request (9894) has been received and is being reviewed by our support staff. To add additional comments, reply to this email." |
Re: How to Effect a Transfer (was: create subgroup with transfer)
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSomeone in this thread asked how to save (export?) the messages in a
yahoogroup..... If I understood the question correctly.
?
There¡¯s a utility
????? PG offline

that does that.
?
Works very well. I have used it to export and archive tens of thousands of
posts from my yahoogroups.
?
I also has excellent search and sort and tally abilities for analyzing
those old messages.

Hi Robert,Pablo, I tried starting Thunderbird in Safe Mode, with all Add-ons disabled, but the behavior of the Reply links is unchanged. This tells me that Add-ons are not the cause of the problem. Thanks for letting me know that upgrading to TB 68.x does not solve the problem either. I'm in no hurry to move to that version in the midst of all the other chaos of transferring nine Yahoo! Re: How to create a new member sign up questionnaire
How does the Google form compare with the Groups.io Pending Subscription Notice?

Re: How to create a new member sign up questionnaire
I created a Google form and placed a link to it in the Pending Subscription Notice. I have the Google form set-up to notify me when I get a new submission so I know when to approve a new member. I like using the Google form because I can set it up so that the prospective member has to answer all the questions without skipping any and causing me to have to send more emails requesting the info. Hope this is helpful.?

Group membership requests
I own a group which is not listed in the Groups.io directory, has private archives and a restricted membership. Occasionally I receive requests to join the group directly from the groups.io group - about one or two a year. In the past 24 hours I have received 8 such requests to join the group all emanating from the USA. Has anyone else which a similarly constituted groups.io had a similar experience to this please?
The usual method of joining my group is via a public website which contains a membership form which prospective members can fill in and send to me. The name of the groups.io group is not shown to anyone until they have filled in this form satisfactorily. Any comments, observations, etc would be welcomed. Margaret UK |
Re: Pictures will not show up
If the user is using a different email address for reception, this can be the case if he is using email forwarding service, like I do, he has to add this email adress to his aliases at the user settings page. This is one big advantage compared to the yahoo system. At groups.io I can answer mails from a bunch of different email addresses if they are set up in email alias page. Regards, Isidro |
