Hi Donald,

In the Invitation To Be Sent Field, _nothing_ can be edited.

It seems so silly that I feel I must be mistaken.

If I copied what appeared in the To Be Sent Field into the Customize Message field, it would appear that the invitee would get both the email with the message in the To Be Sent Field followed by a message created by me in the Customize Message field.

As I say, it seems so silly, I feel I must be mistaken/missing something.

Did you go back and edit a previous post?

As I mentioned before, the clock starts when the topic is created, not when you add the hashtag.

For what it is worth, I'm not seeing this behavior either.

Using Win10, Firefox w/LastPass installed and active.

In your report to support include details of your OS, Browser, and any browser plugins you might have that could auto-fill a field for you.

Since it seems to have started yesterday for you, it is possible that an update to your browser, any plug-ins, or to Groups.io itself is causing it.

My theory is that some software on your side is recognizing that that field wants an email address, so it is conveniently filling in your email address. The change in behavior could be because Groups.io changed something in the HTML code surrounding that box (for example, may have added something that identifies it as an email field, perhaps to improve screen-reader behavior). Or it could be an update on your end.

This is an ongoing problem with some folks that use btinternet as their email provider.? There is a thread here on GMF at /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/34125793 and another on the beta group at that may help explain what's happening.? It's been about a week since the last posts, but BT apparently hasn't fixed it yet.

So . . . I added a 'one hour' hashtag to the 'forever' hashtag for the announcement post and it deleted the announcement post within five minutes of it having been added.

Don't know why it acted so quickly but it appears that if I want to use such a 2nd hashtag it will have to be set as 'forever' and then deleted manually.

Now we know.

Interesting but my announcement post is not locked so that potential attendees may RSVP.

The announcement's (forever) hashtag is restricted to moderator use but does allow attendees to reply.

Let's see what adding a 'one day' hashtag to the post and it forever hashtag does.

I have a Premium group too, and have tried my best to replicate this problem, to no avail. I even purposely set up my form auto-populator (or whatever you call it) to put the wrong information in these fields, using the same browser as Harlan, and it just didn't happen.

Kinda at a loss...but it's another datum, FWIW. Hopefully Mark will figure it out.

I did a couple of tests. One topic had a Forever tag and a Delete tag.? The topic was deleted.? The other had a Forever tag and a Lock tag.? It was locked.? I had both of them set for one hour, but it really took about 1:10 for the action to happen.

There's an event for our group that was announced and hashtagged on MON of this week and it takes place tomorrow, FRI.

So tonight I'll add a hashtag 'It's Today' with a one day duration, so it should expire SAT.

We'll see if the 'Foerever' duration 'main' hashtag will hold the post in place.

Paul -- When a hashtag is set with a topic duration, the entire topic is deleted after that time period. The clock starts when the first message in the topic was posted; deletion includes all messages in the topic...including their hashtags and everything else.

"Forever" is the default topic duration. Logically, if another included hashtag has another [read: earlier] duration, it should override.?But I gotta admit I haven't actually tried it. Please report back on what happens.
