In order for the integration to work, the page must be public, and have no country or age restrictions.?See??for details.
?
Also, it only works for pages, not Facebook groups.

Try logging out of Facebook. If after doing so, you can no longer access your page, then you don't have it (your Facebook page) set up right. Keep working on it until you can. At that point the integration should work, too.

Hope this helps,

Unmoderating (only) Some Members

Guys,
This may seem a strange question but anyway, here it goes.

If I have a moderated group (that is, a group like this one for example), is there a way of making sure that a person will be able to bypass this moderation (that is, their messages will be automatically aproved)?
Just curious...

As always, thanks a lot for any and all help!

Chris,

Apologies for assuming that "everyone" knew these bits of internet shorthand.
Well, over the time, I've learned a lot of these "internet shorthands".
When I don't know any of them I just google it. Works 95% of the time :)

I think it's important to know these things if you want to understand another language apart from your own, which is my case as a brazilian guy. So I have a file with these shorthands that I've learned so far.

P.S.: Oops, I guess I've kind of drifted a bit from the original question. My apologies, hope you guys don't mind it!

Frances,
I know when you go to Settings, you can edit the group name. ?In this case add in "collectors". But I don't think you can edit the email address. Or can you?
Actually, you can :)
However, there are a few points one must be aware before changing the email for the group.

Adding new FB Integrations - "That name does not appear to be the name of a Facebook Page"

Is there a known current issue with adding new FB integrations right now? Like an API change perhaps? I have a few integrations already, and those already set up are working fine. But, for the life of me, I can't get any new pages to add.

There is one public FB page I want to add to one groups.io group, but when it didn't work I tried adding a handful of other public FB pages to two different groups.io groups, and nothing seems to work. Yes, they are public Facebook pages (not groups). I'm not logged into FB when I view them. In fact, I don't even have a Facebook account and that's why I use the integration to monitor some public pages and be notified of new posts.

I noticed in the Wiki that these integrations won't work if the page has country or age restrictions, which I am not in a position to check since those aren't my pages. But, I've tried so many different, public pages, that I'd be surprised if they *all* had these restrictions.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Re: New topic in wiki? #wiki #settings

Frances,

What is the relationship between the group email address and group name?

There is no control identified as the group Name, the Email Address field (the part you enter, not including the fixed parts) is what people normally call the name. That field also controls the group's web address (URL).

Re: New topic in wiki? #wiki #settings

Hi everyone who hasn¡¯t muted this topic!

One more point about group email address - if you want the group in the directory of groups, it files it by email address. So choosing a good email address is useful, I think!
(Although there is now a search box on that screen. Hurray!)

Re: New topic in wiki? #wiki #settings

Hi all,

No problem. De-highlighted most. Added that it is a work in progress!

One area that concerns me is the initial step - choosing the email address. The official help is silent on this and it has been awhile since I created a new group.?

What is the relationship between the group email address and group name? ?My example was for a fictitious group for vintage pickle jar collectors. I thought there was a close connection so I wrote: ¡°An account is identified by its?email address. Decide on the email address.?This is also the name for your group.?Example - vintagepicklejars
The suffix will be @groups.io¡±

I know when you go to Settings, you can edit the group name. ?In this case add in ¡°collectors¡±. But I don¡¯t think you can edit the email address. Or can you?

I started this section based on my perception that new members need it. And since the wiki is public, even potential users can see it.?

That was for Francis's benefit -- does EVERYONE have access to the diffs?? I thought only Mods???? Live and learn.

de-highlight is easy -? I do it all the time.? I have text?HL'd in continuously updated generic reports that I will need to update for the "next" report issuance --?
Save again after edits, and just before printing (PDF-ng) -?Select all - de-highlight.? 2 eazy peazy strokes.

but the auto generated email says the person is invited by my email address
Set your display name. I believe that will be used together with your email address.

Invitation Emails #addmembers

We are almost ready to launch our invite-only group but the auto generated email says the person is invited by my email address, not the name of the group or a real person's name. I can't see a way to edit this. Please help!

Moderation and Records of Editing #moderation

Gerald Boutin

Is there any record of edits made to moderated posts?

All I can find is a record saying that a post was approved. I was expecting to see some record in the approved post to let readers know that this was not necessarily what the original poster wrote.

Anyway, he should click on the provided link to unbounce his account (or log into groups.io and click on the red banner). Until this is done, group email delivery will continue to be suspended (for him).
First, thank you everyone who responded.

Bruce, with regard to your question, the email provider is Cox Communications here in Phoenix, Arizona.

Of course even if those criteria are met it does not guarantee police action. (FWIW further to my comment yesterday it is not the Computer Misuse Act that is relevant to this in the UK; it is other legislation that is used to deal with alleged offenders.)

Chris,

Don't take my word on that, I haven't looked into it as a matter of law.

AIUI in the UK there does not have to be a clear possibility of a
physical threat; all that is needed is for the material in question
(emails) to cause /alarm, harassment & distress/.
That may be true here as well. I was only suggesting that one may apply some personal judgement in order to decide if it is worth engaging the police on the matter.
