reached limit of new members

I sent invitations in bulk to 53 members, by copying in a list of 53 email addresses each on their own line in the invite address box.?
I received a message that i had reached the limit of adding members without approval, and then something about members would be approved.?
And now there is no trace of these member invitations in the "pending" list, which i expected. I have not been able to find any information about member limits and invitations...although I could have missed something...

Will I need to resend these invites? what is the limit for whatever it was that I reached? What are the next steps?

thanks in advance, Liz

Re: Emails from New Members

Rene,

I changed all of the members and owner¡¯s settings to match this message below and I am still unable to receive emails from one of the owners.? He keeps trying to reply and nothing is coming through.

On his next attempt have him CC the message to your personal email address. Then, assuming you receive that, you can examine the To: field to verify that he sent the message to the group's posting address. Oftentimes it is as simple as a typo.

Assuming the To address of his message was correct, tell us what you find in the group's Activity log. There should be an entry corresponding to that attempt.

Hi Rene,

?

?

Once I approve an invitation for a member to the group I am still unable to receive their emails.

?

One place to check is your group's Activity log to see if there's any record there of the member's attempt(s) to post. If you see entries marked attempted to send message that should give a reason why their post wasn't accepted by Groups.io for your group.

?

Or you may see sent message entries indicating whether the message requires approval or not.

?

If you don't see anything about messages in the group's activity log then it may be that the members were sending those messages to the wrong email address. Your group's posting address is listed on the home page of the group.

?

?

I changed their moderation to "override: not moderated" and no luck.

?

I generally recommend against using that setting. I think in most cases it is better to set each member to Use Group Moderation Setting so that you can then use the group's Moderated setting to control the group as a whole.

?

?

Am I missing a step or not selecting the right form of moderation?

?

Possibly.

?

If generally speaking you want group members to be able to post without requiring moderation I recommend checking either the Restricted Membership and/or New Users Moderated box, and unchecking Moderated, in the Spam Control section of the group's Settings page.

Re: Getting a copy of your shares

Ellen, the member can check her subscription by going to group homepage and clicking on Subscription - lefthand menu. Perhaps she is Special Notices only or if you have allowed it in the group settings, No Mail.

I am assuming you mean that the member isn't receiving email from those two groups.?
You can also check Activity in Admin. See Shal's reply about Emails from New Members -?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/15984

One member in a group I am in gets her emails from 2 groups she belongs to & she does not get them on 2 others. I asked her to make sure she had that box checked & she said she does. Can anyone tell me how to overcome this? I appreciate any help I can get.

Thank You

Re: Emails from New Members

First, check the Email Delivery History - go to Ashley's profile in Members in Admin.?
And Admin, Activity. Check Message Activity, moderator, etc.

I am not sure that you need to manually change an invitee's status. If you want no moderation, just make sure that in Group Settings, Spam Control, you select Moderate after 1 post. That means you must moderate the first one, but not their next post.?
And scroll way down and click on Update Group.

Check out this wiki page - scroll down to Posting Privilege to see about P:

Are you remembering to "save the changes" each time?

So I noticed that Ashley does not have the ¡°P¡± emblem that says can post (see below).? What do I need to do to allow her to post and email?

Check this - in Settings, scroll down to Message Policies.
Make sure Allow Non Subscribers to Post

Posts by non-subscribers will be moderated, instead of rejected.

This allows that specific post to be delivered to your group members. It doesn't make them a group member.

Re: Possibility to merge two email addresses?

Your last suggestion nails it. It has a hashtag (post from Facebook) that is moderated!

Thanks for wading through my blather. I'll share this info with the other moderators of my group!

Thanks Shal!

Re: Emails from New Members

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I actually did have that selected.? This is contact is actually a member of the group so I¡¯m not sure why we can¡¯t receive her messages.

Thank you for letting us know how the problem was resolved.? Many times there's no closure of a topic because once it's fixed, the original poster is happy and forgets to let us know what was found.? Glad all is well now and it should prevent others from running into the same situation.

I did a little more experimenting.? It seems that once you have the buttons at the bottom - Messages, New Topic, More - you won't see the entire toolbar.? On an Android tablet, portrait, buttons, no bar.? Same tablet, landscape, no buttons, all is well.? Looks like it's all because your screen is too narrow, assuming your screenshot is landscape.

Re: Possibility to merge two email addresses?

Chromatest,

Why is requesting permission to post from an email address that is not mentioned anywhere in the headers?

Because a message from G* (the alias) is treated as being from B* (the subscription address).

But.... what's changed?? I've been posting to the list right along and nothing has changed on my end.. Why all of a sudden am I getting moderation messages on myself?

That I don't know. Things to check:
  • It could be that B*'s Posting Privileges require moderation in that group.
  • It could be that B*'s Posting Privileges in that group defer to the Group Moderation Setting, and it requires Moderation.
  • It could be that B*'s address is not subscribed to the group, but the group allows non-subscriber posts.
  • It could be that the message is a reply to a topic that requires moderation.
  • It could be that the message has a #hashtag in its Subject that requires moderation.
A take-away from that list is that ownership of the group has nothing to do with whether message posts are moderated.
