I know names showed up when using a Yahoo or AOL email address like below with via Groups Io after the display name that?a member?picked. I?use a gmail email address and my send showed up like below a little while ago. Ilene

You won't get to the invitation need until you've started the transfer process.? You're missing something somewhere.? Are you using the /yahootransfer page or the /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups page for instructions?? They amount to the same thing, but the second has more detail for each step, in sequence.

I think it may be Yahoo but just for our group since you had no issue creating the member. Can Mark do something to bypass the need for the transfer member?

i tried again from scratch (except adding the group) and ran through the full transfer process until you need to see the Member [email protected]?for two groups, 1 group that I created (and I know I didn¡¯t do a transfer on it) and 1 that someone else created and I have no idea what she did. They both are coming ?from the same YahooGroup. The usual happened, no [email protected]?member in YahooGroups and neither group appears in the transfer in process list. I waited 4 days, just to be sure.

Help! This has been about 6 weeks and I convinced the group that this would be a quick and easy transfer so I have lost all credibility!

I am pretty sure that you can remove and then re add a member to YahooGroups..

In your case, my suggestion would be to upgrade the group to premium for one month ($10), then use Direct Add for the members.? That would remove the Invite/Approve/etc step.? You can use a CSV file to add everyone at once.? When there are more than 20, you may see a short delay, but that normally only lasts a couple of hours (it's a spammer prevention tool Mark uses.)

How Do I upload a CSV File of Our Member Email Addresses?

 

Greetings!
I just joined groups.io so that my membership can receive notifications of meetings and events and share upcoming exhibition information with each other. We have been using Gmail but now with mailing limitations, group emails are being rejected. We do not have any Yahoo Groups or Google Groups. The reason we decided not to go with Google Groups was that there didn't seem to be a financially economical way to transfer group member email addresses from our existing Gmail account nor do a CSV import into Google Groups. Is there a way to populate email addresses in groups.io without having to invite people (and following up with them multiple times) or typing emails in one at a time? We have 150+ members and we are an all-volunteer organization. Half of our members are older and barely able to figure out emails.?

The problem is that your reply is being sent to "" - which is not a valid address. There should have been (a lot) more to the return address. It should have looked something like:

[email protected]


Possibly the hyphens in your group name, or the very long resulting email address confused your email interface and the Reply function didn't copy the address correctly.

Next time you try to approve one by email, before you click send make note of the address your reply is being sent TO. If it doesn't look like the above report back here what's being put there. Also tell us what email interface you're using.

I want to thank groups Io, Mark and everyone who works with the server and this group

This morning all my groups came back and so far the only message I get is when a new member joins my group and I have to go to the site to manually accept them

Other than this all is back to norm

I, too, got a "message failed - too big" message for a very small message.

I just transferred to from Yahoo to get away from glitches - sure hope this is remedied soon!

It sounds like it's your email supplier that won't let you send large messages or messages with large attachments.

Messages rejected

 

Is anyone else having messages returned as undeliverable citing the error "500 Message too big"? I just got this for a 5-line text only message.

To approve a member when notified that one is pending, you can simply click reply on the email you received and send. The approval should happen automatically and you will receive another email that the person has joined your group.

I hope I am not asking for too much help.
I have never had a group in .IO before.
I was given at least temporary ownership of six IO groups while the original owner is having eye surgery and then recovering. Then she might be coming back.
Anyways, I'm trying to hopefuly make these groups bigger and better.

I need to be able to post a letter to each group as owner explaining what is and is not to be posted in the groups. They are all Incredimail Stat Groups btw.

I wondered if there is a place in Admin or whatever, to type it so either it gets sent out regularly or I can just push a button to send it and don't have to retype it every time.

On of my groups is a theme collections group and I don't know how to make the themes for the month print at the bottoms of posts that go through the group automatically. The owner previously did, and I can't ask her.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

I also need to advertise the groups to attempt to get more members but I think I just try to join one of the advertising groups and that's it.

I'm still trying to find a place to learn what all the places are on the group admin pages and all is. Sorry, I don't mean to wear my welcome out here.

Sure wish there was a list 1, 2, 3 and so on of what a newbie making a group needs to know to understand all this.

Forgive me if this was obvious or already said, but of course the only files that could be edited right on the site would be straight text files, just as was the case on yahoo groups.

Also, if you change the file name under "File Properties", that may cause some havoc. I seem to recall I did that once and the site couldn't find the file anymore.
