Re: About Invitations
The site determines the name to use from the email address you enter.? If you just send to an email address, it will use that.? If you enter it as Joe Smith <email@ domain.com>? (without the space, needed here so you can see it all), it will use Joe Smith.

Re: Display Names Monitoring

Yes but I was wondering if there is a way to get a notification pushed or emailed.

Display Names Monitoring
#codesofconduct
Is there a way to monitor when members change their display names?
We have a member who tried to join with quite a nasty one.? Then re-joined after I asked them to tone it down a bit. I'd like to keep an eye on that |

Re: Not receiving verification emails
I assume you checked the member's email delivery history to ensure the emails were sent successfully...
I have my own domain hosted at Name.com and email is screened at pobox.com (MX domain records direct mail to pobox servers).? What pobox doesn't toss out ends up at my gmail account. I found pobox more reliable than mail forwarding by domain host. Toby |

A member in a group I am a moderator is bouncing. The message reads "452 4.1.1 Too much mail from this address E2210". What does that mean? What is to be done? It is a charter.net address. It's a Charter problem... they don't care much about customer service so they do this sort of blocking arbitrarily. there are plenty of other places sending far more email to them, but they don't know Groups.io. Your subscriber should call Charter support and complain... and he/she should have a full copy of the message in hand when doing so. He will probably have to ask for the complaint to be "escalated" to higher level support before he stands a chance of getting it resolved. And when he gets someone who has a clue he needs to tell them that Groups.io is a groups site just like Yahoogroups and GoogleGroups and shouldn't be blocked. Yeah, I know, subscribers throw up their hands when told this, but Charter (and others) don't listen to non-customers so there's not a lot of choice. Jim H |

Thanks Toby.
Perhaps that could get added into an FAQ somewhere? |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThanks, the problem is with already subscribed members sending emails to the group from gmail addresses. It has been a problem since I created the group 6 months ago.?Regards, Dave Griffin On 12/09/2018, at 09:21, Rob Bulnes <robertbulnes@...> wrote:

Not receiving verification emails
I've signed up two test accounts, one from my vanity domain and one from my work email, and both are "NC" because I cannot seem to get a confirmation email! I may try my .gov email address next! But has anyone had issues with verification emails? We just migrated over from YG, and I'm concerned that any new members from here on out may not be able to confirm their memberships. And I can't even manually confirm them as the owner!?
I did email support about it, but I know that this is a free service, and I may not hear back for a while. I'd like to make sure this doesn't cause any issue for new members going forward. -Max H. |

I a totally disgusted with trying to get this issue solved. It has been months since I reported it. How do I reach the support for io groups, not this forum that does absolutely no good. I am moving my group back to Yahoo if I don't hear something in a week.I greatly doubt if any of the other members of this forum took all that kindly to what amounted to a misdirected rant. As Shal subsequently stated "Reported it where? If only to GMF then you're barking up the wrong tree. GMF is a user-to-user community." "Please fix this?" In all probability the problem lies with with something that either you or your Group Owner or another group moderator has done; have you by any chance discussed it with them, and if not why not? Both of the symptoms you mentioned may well be functions of Settings within your group; go to the Settings tab (a subset of Admin) and scroll down to Privacy - Member Directory; check what it is set to and change as necessary. Then scroll down further to Features, and within that Files - Permissions; check what it is set to and change as required. FWIW you mentioned "It has been months since I reported it". You only joined this group about 6 weeks ago and while your two previous posts were answered there was no feedback from you whatsoever. As Shal asked... Reported it where? Please report back with what you found when checking the Settings suggested above. Chris |
