Re: Individuals email gets an error
Debbie, I have tried to invite her but I got the error as well. ? The error is 'Invalid email' but I can send her an email from my personal email and it works fine. ? Is there any reason a particular ISP or email address that is not .com is not valid? No, there are hundreds of GMF members with .net domains, largely but comcast and others too. So that of itself is not the problem. It is possible that Groups.io has a block on that domain if it had been troublesome in the past, but I'd more likely suspect some syntactical error to get "Invalid email" as the error. You may need to report it to [email protected] to find out what the problem is. Re: Individuals email gets an error
Debbie,
Hmm, that email address 'mypacks.net' appears to be used for anonymous email for EarthLink users, called "Protection Pack"? see ->? That might have something to do with it.? I'd suggest emailing support with a screen shot of the error and have Mark take a look. Thanks Toby |
Re: Can't subscribe to calendar of group I own
I am subscribed to our group calendar and events show up in my Google calendar.? Sync may take a bit of time.? What error are you getting?? What personal calendar are you using?
You should be able to take the iCalendar URL and open it in a browser, download the feed.ics file and view it.? Does that work? Thanks Toby |

Ken, It sure would be nice to have them echoed back or an option to have them echoed back as a verification that they were sent to the other owners/moderators. I believe that Groups.io does forward them to all mods/owners, including the sender when that is one of the mods/owners. Subject to the individual mod/owner's Owner Email Subscription setting of course. The situation you face is (I think) slightly different than Gary's. Where Gmail accepts but hides messages that you sent upon their return (as from an email list or forwarding) Outlook has been reported to reject such messages outright. The logic being that it must be a forgery if it claims to be From your address but was delivered to them by another service (Groups.io). For this case a different work-around would be required - Groups.io would need to replace the From field with one that isn't your email address. If you receive your own group postings back at Outlook that would imply that Groups.io has implemented some work-around, or convinced Outlook to "play nice" with group postings, to overcome the problem that was reported earlier (Outlook users seeing their own messages in their Bounce history). Delete tables/Databases
#howto
We have just converted our group from Yahoo.? (I am the owner)
We have databases that get set up about every two months for the purposes of our members to enter data. So, now we have a multitude of old databases on groups.io that I would like to delete.? But I can't see how to do that -- is it some admin setting I am missing? Thanks in advance. Linda |

Gary, It appears that I didn't receive the email to main+owner because I was the sender. ? Gmail strikes again. I guess it would be a reasonable suggestion (on beta) to have the gmail work-around (the I always want copies of my own messages checkbox in your account profile) apply to +owner messages as well as group postings. Kind of an edge case, but it trips me up from time to time (and makes me glad I have a second email address as moderator on my groups). Thanks for posting this. I had wondered why I haven't seen my main+owner post sent back to me. It sure would be nice to have them echoed back or an option to have them echoed back as a verification that they were sent to the other owners/moderators.

Ok, I got it worked out. It appears that I didn't receive the email to main+owner because I was the sender. I sent an email from my work account and it showed up in very short order. Sorry to bother anyone, but I hope this may save someone else from having to post this same issue.

Moderators not getting emails
#groupowner
#messages
I am a moderator of a group which I started as owner and then, once ownership was established by the co-op subscription, my status was changed from owner to moderator. I have verified that, as moderator, I am set to receive all emails sent to main+owner, but I'm not receiving them. I have checked the owner email account and the message got through to that account but not to my email, as moderator. Is there a built-in delay that anyone knows of? Or is there another setting that could be interfering with me receiving these emails?
Thanks. |

Note that in doing so, (s)he will instead receive a hyperlink to the attachment. If the hyperlink is also objectionable, the only way to disable that is to disable attachments for the whole group. Thanks, Duane. Still very new to all of this and didn't even know there was a possible pending member notice. I'll do that.

Using the ordinary Files / Photos tabs (on the left!) open each in turn; each will show a cumulative total of the storage used that you can check against the figures given with the bargraph. Unless your members are extraordinarily well - disciplined I wouldn't mind betting that there is a fair degree of duplication in your photo archive, along with more than a few "fuzzy-fotos" that serve no useful purpose whatsoever, so there may be some scope for some selective weeding, although I have to admit that getting rid of 700 MB worth will be time - consuming. And before you ask... post - upload photo size reduction is "sort of" possible but it is extremely tedious and loses the identity of the individual originators of the photos. It is worth testing Shal's question Are you still allowed to upload new files or photos? If you can then something is really adrift (might be better not to ask support!) but if you find new uploads are disabled then prompt action may be required to clear out some of the less useful material. Re: Is it possible to change all member of a group to receive no attachments, unless they change it?
Dave,
Now I know users can turn off attachments, but I'm wondering if itIn the Default Sub Settings tab of your group's Settings page you can change the default Max Attachment Size from Unlimited to None, or something in between. That won't help your current members, it only changes the default for members who join in the future. For current members you (or they, as Mark suggested) can change the setting in their Subscription, but unfortunately there's no bulk way for you to do it - you'd have to open each member's subscription page one by one. And as vijaybhuchar suggested, you can set a group-wide resizing of emailed photos. That's under Photos in the Features section of your group's settings. Photos taken straight from cameras tend to be huge these days, so even picking a 1024x1024 limit can dramatically reduce the size of the attached photos. Perhaps the quota wasn't enforced during the group's transfer from Y!Groups. Usually the transfer is put on hold and you're asked to select a photo resizing or other choice to bring the transfer under quota. But maybe that wasn't done because the queue has been so long. Re: Is it possible to change all member of a group to receive no attachments, unless they change it?
Another choice is that rather than set a group-wide policy, members who don't want large attachments can set their own private policy.? Under Subscription/Membership/Advanced Preferences, a member can select maximum attachment size: 0 (no attachments, 100KB, 500KB, 5MB, or Unlimited). Below the choice GIO states: "For attachments larger than this size, links to retrieve them will be provided instead."Mark E. On 8/29/2018 8:18 PM, vijaybhuchar via Groups.Io wrote:

Re: Is it possible to change all member of a group to receive no attachments, unless they change it?
What I did with my group was to choose the options whereby photos are resized to 488 by 488. ?This works well for both sending out large emails to subscribers and for keeping usage down for the freemium option. There are four places in settings where you can resize attachments. On Thu, Aug 30, 2018 at 02:07 AM, Dr. David Kirkby from Kirkby Microwave Ltd wrote:
