You select the one you want to go out at the time you send it. You can have multiple notices of the other types, too, but only one of each type can be made Active, so groups.io knows which one to send. As for being listed, be sure you give each notice a unique Name. If you save a Member Notice under the same Name as an existing one it will be overwritten. Hope this helps, Bruce |

Hi Bill,
Thanks so much for a really constructive reply - I'm about to look at GMFs Wiki to see if i can find a way to save your message (apart from copy / paste). I'm a new List Admin exile from the Rootsweb Mailing List demise and I've been encouraging my fellow List Admins to make more use of it - I've found answers to most things I've wanted. -- Regards ... I've set all these, but the home page HTML still has:
As you can see, the og:image refers to the generic groups.io logo, not my group image. |
Ancestry #Rootsweb mailing list being twilighted

I moved over here to groups.io because I was co-admin of a Lithuanian Genealogy list on Yahoo.? We're very happy with the move, and we migrated with very little in the way of problems. It appears Rootsweb is twilighting their list service, as well. Has anyone here successful migrated a non-Yahoo mailing here?? And in particular, Rootsweb??? The cutoff is in March, so I wouldn't be surprised to more requests in the coming weeks. Hopefully, some of the Groups.io people will see this post.?? |

Hi Frances,
Just a simple ¡°Note to Member¡±.? I tried a couple of the others were tested as well. For some reason they are not being activated as well as listed.? Thanks? Peter |
Subjects and names not appearing in emailed messages
The user complaint follows:
Dan, when i receive messages from groups.io through my gorge.net account, the sender and subject do not appear as they do when i look at the groups.io server.? This is an issue with the way messages are shown on my account at the gorgenet server and also when they are forwarded by gorgenet to my outlook account on my computer.? However, when messages are received from AWORKOFMARC, the sender and subject do appear.? What is different about his account? Is there any fix for this. __________________________ There are no differences in the member setup between the example AWORKOFMARC and other users- the all caps is different, though, in the user name.? Anyway, is there anything to be done about his missing senders and subject??? I? think Gorge.net came up in an earlier problem. Dan |

Request to Join on Web Response Page
John Pearce
Our group requires someone to tell us something about why they are interested in our group before we approve.? Member notices are active and edited appropriately and are sent to them explaining what we want to know, and to explain that they must reply to the email as this part of the process is automated.? However with the folks who request to join via the web days go by before people respond if at all.? Many just age out after 14 days.? I have a test ID that I use to subscribe and unsubscribe to see what happens as well as testing what users see with various email options.? I used that to subscribe via the web and the response page from groups.io does NOT mention that they should check their email as some groups require a response via email before they can join.? Could that be added to the response page?? It appears that many people don't use email much and rely on the web interface to read messages.? It might also be helpful to move them to a page where they could fill out their response immediately but at least a notice to check their email.
