No.? There's not even an entry in the Activity log.? Both have been requested on the beta group.? It's possible that some things like this will be part of the app at some point.

You have lots of options for this.? You can create a file with the information in it, then send a link to those that need it.? You can put this information in your Group Guidelines which can be set to be sent out monthly.? You can Monthly Reminder notice to be sent out.

Besides the group notices, one can also use the FILES and/or WIKI sections where they can upload or create documents of this nature.

Thanks Duane and Chris. I'll guide them on how to quote content sensibly for context.

Copies of messages sent to subscribers via members page

I found it necessary to send a message to a subscriber via the members list

I bcc'd a copy to myself, so I have that copy

But is there a copy saved in the group somewhere?

IMHO that is a truly ghastly idea given the number of posts that some threads can accumulate. Do you really want a new reply to a topic to be accompanied by perhaps 20, 30 or more previous posts? You might but I doubt if your members will thank you for it. Over - quoting is a more or less permanent problem with some users of some groups and forcing over - quoting does not look like a good idea.

Currently, if a reply is posted via the web, there is no included context in the reply email.
That is down to members not taking the tiny amount of trouble necessary to use a sensible quote from which to work. It is not a function of posting via the web UI; users should be nudged into providing quotations on which to hang their replies.

Chris

Ah. I never noticed the speech bubble. Is there a way to have this as the default?
Thanks again.

No, it's up to each person to decide what, if anything, to include in their reply.? You can highlight what you want to quote before clicking the reply button (as with many email programs) or once in the reply box, use the speech bubble at the upper left to "Quote Whole Post".? Including Entire Thread in Emails #email #reply-to-group #thread

When emails are sent with a newly posted reply, I want the entire thread to be included in the email. Currently, if a reply is posted via the web, there is no included context in the reply email.
Is there a setting to change this?
Thanks.
Mike

It's easy to send invitations to promote a new group if you know where to send them. That's not my case. I started a group hoping to meet similarly-minded people online. Is there a regular promotion of new groups like in the Meetup organization?

You can have as many Rejected Message notices as you want.? The one that's marked active, if any, is the one that gets sent when you reject via email.? If you reject online, you can choose from the list.? I use several and name them so that I can easily select the one that's needed.? In your case, I'd probably name it "No HTs" or similar.

2. Can all the hashtags be changed in a batch to moderator only or do they need to be recreated to be changed? I didn¡¯t see a way to change a hashtag that has already been created.
You have to edit each of them.? On the Hashtag page, click on a hashtag.? On the page that comes up, click on the Edit button in the hashtag box.? There you can change the settings for that hashtag.? Be sure to scroll down to click Update Hashtag.

Sometimes it's a matter of the technical abilities of the members.? It's much easier to force HTML so that only one explanation for how it works is needed.? On a more technical group, having multiple options would be less likely to cause problems.

My own problem with digests remains that context gets eliminated in discussion threads
That's easily cured by not bottom quoting.? Bottom posting or interspersing will keep everything together. A well written reply should stand on its own.

This used to be a recognised way of backing-up a Yahoo Group with a Google Group.

Google ditched the facility about the time Melissa Mayer left to head-up Yahoo.

There have been some mentioned, but I don't recall any specific group names.? You'll probably have better luck if you post links for your group (with permission, of course) to sites and/or other groups with similar interests.? A good description of your group that people will easily find in the site directory will also help.

Re: Settings for digest options

Sorry, I have to quibble here. While group owners technically have the final say, some groups do function as a democracy, with 'owners' who merely contribute administrative duties to the group.

I've not had this particular problem with digests, but I agree that users should be able to choose whether they want plain text or html, and not have that left to group managers. My own problem with digests remains that context gets eliminated in discussion threads, which also affects our ability to forward mailings. I was initially really excited about Groups.io, and for the most part I still like it, but I wish users had more control over digests.
