Our Group has the same concern and those not renewing are purged from GIO. My tips would be to use routine GIO Exports to check names against your DB, to require their real names be used as their display ID in your group (as that is a typical consistant ID field with you own DB records) and to routinely check your group's Activity history to discover changed emails (which aren't always updated or consistant with your organization's email on file).?

Click the "Sent Invitations" button at the top of the Invite page.

In order to do this, I need to know when the report goes >poof<.
They never go >poof< unless you delete them. We have active invitations here in GMF dating from 2014.

Thanks for your response. I realize the value of the report. However, yesterday I invited 20 people. Later I looked at the report. However, now the report is gone. Why? Does it remain only until looked at or does it remain only for the day of the invite or . . . what?

Only the email address, no <>, quotes, or anything else.

Second, when I sign in to Groups.io, I have at the top a "Your groups" choice. It has a number in the center of a circle. The number used to be" 6" which was the number of groups to which I belong. I've not changed the number of groups but the number in the circle now says "1"rather than "6". Is this an issue or does the change mean something?
The little number is the total of items that need a attention.? Could be message approvals, member approvals, etc.? You can get a slightly more detailed list at /groups after you sign in.

hi. well what happens, don't get it in my inbox in outlook 2016, but when i go to the site and use the barrier free option, shows the messages in spam, and so had to either whitelist. and now trying to repair my account in control panel, mail. see if that fixes it. something maybe i did click on mail check or mail collector, which puts legit messages as spam. never had that before. did have a account on mail.com and now another friend set one up for me. thanks.

IOmails were going into spam in my gmx-mailbox as well. So I whitelisted "@groups.io". This was sufficient.

May be this works for mail.com as well?

Many greetings

Yes.

The problem is not unique to GMail. Many webmail providers and email clients do this by default. And it's even more frustrating as a Moderator, when every email address you've ever used to approve a message magically lands among your Contacts.

Question for the collective brain - have any of you dealt with this same problem? Is there an easy way to tell the gmail users what to do to fix this?
The answer is here:?? Also appended below.

Whether it is "easy to tell" to people is another story. I'll let you make that call.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Start or stop saving automatically

  1. Go to your?.
  2. On the left navigation panel, click?People & sharing.
  3. On the?Contacts?panel, click?Contact info saved from interactions.
  4. Turn?Save contact info when you interact with people?on or off.
  5. If you use Gmail, choose if Gmail saves contact info from people you email:
    1. On a computer, go to your?.
    2. Under "Create contacts for auto-complete," choose an option.
    3. At the bottom of the page, click?Save changes.

Re: Yahoo Group Description field on the ABOUT page [we've moved billboard] #yahoo

SamiJo,?

I'm the OP on this thread.? The trhead was created to HELP STOP folks from using the old Yahoo email and focus on GroupsIO.? :)

So, having the YG Description field with bold color text and even a clickable link to get to your GroupsIO page is the way to setup the YG Description page.?

AND the other trick is to have an automated email sent out to the old YG folks to UNSUBSCRIBE from there and JOIN your GIO here. :)?? You can set this up in outlook OR from what I'm understanding in the GIO calendar to send out a notice to the the old YG to post directly to them.?

This way, it's nearly all automatic after it's setup and working. :)

Each person can set that in their Account settings under Items Per Page - 20, 50, 100, or infinite scroll.? Be aware that infinite scroll doesn't work on some pages though.

Gmail List subscribers, list and +owner addresses #gmail

Hi folks,

We recently moved our group (westorangeshuls) over from Yahoo go groups.io (along many, many others). We didn't do a group transfer, because we wanted to use the opportunity to clean up our group membership list.

I modified the pending subscription message to instruct the new list members to reply to the message with information about themselves, so our moderators could verify and approve as appropriate. This means that most of our users wound up sending a message to [email protected]?when they sent that message.

All OK so far. But now, many of those gmail users are having trouble sending list message to our regular list address ([email protected]). I'm pretty sure this is because gmail stores the +owner address in the automatically saved addresses, but associates the +owner address with the list name. So the user goes to compose a message to [email protected],?and it?looks like it's going there, but it's actually going to [email protected].

Frustrating.

Question for the collective brain - have any of you dealt with this same problem? Is there an easy way to tell the gmail users what to do to fix this? Unfortunately many of our users are not super tech savvy, so they have trouble figuring it out for themselves.

Thanks for any thoughts or ideas!

it skipped more than 2000 messages!
I fixed these two bugs. Please download the program again.

(Luckily I had made a subgroup for testing the program!)
Already imported messages are skipped by groups.io if you try to import them again into the same group or subgroup. Perhaps you'll have to delete that test subgroup and create it again.

Also, delete the imported.txt file.

Nope.? When the information was downloaded from the YG, that's all that was uploaded to GIO.? If any messages after that showed up, someone was sending them to GIO.

Re: BATCH CHANGE of Posting Privileges

I'm sure there was no forwarding of mail from Yahoo to Groups.io. However, if people were still posting to the Yahoo list they would have gotten messages from there as well as from the new Groups.io list. Transferring to Groups.io didn't removed them from the Yahoo list, so if it is still active they can still send and receive messages from the Yahoo list. That could cause some confusion.

Yes, the wording was hashed and rehashed on the beta group a few years ago.? I believe it was decided that the information presented there and in the group settings was clear enough.? You'd need to bring this up on that group in order for anyone from management to see it.

Unless you can get the information from the YG, as Frances has shown, it's gone.? You didn't pay for your group, so any invitation was ignored.? There was a very detailed step-by-step procedure that you obviously didn't follow. All of the YG transfers by GIO ended on Dec 5.
