Yes.

The problem is not unique to GMail. Many webmail providers and email clients do this by default. And it's even more frustrating as a Moderator, when every email address you've ever used to approve a message magically lands among your Contacts.

Question for the collective brain - have any of you dealt with this same problem? Is there an easy way to tell the gmail users what to do to fix this?

Whether it is "easy to tell" to people is another story. I'll let you make that call.

Start or stop saving automatically

  1. Go to your?.
  2. On the left navigation panel, click?People & sharing.
  3. On the?Contacts?panel, click?Contact info saved from interactions.
  4. Turn?Save contact info when you interact with people?on or off.
  5. If you use Gmail, choose if Gmail saves contact info from people you email:
    1. On a computer, go to your?.
    2. Under "Create contacts for auto-complete," choose an option.
    3. At the bottom of the page, click?Save changes.

Join [email protected] to automatically receive all group messages.
