Re: Downloading A Group Wiki
Marcio, (Hope you don't mind me replying on-list as well as directly. I think this may be of general interest.)
See the .zip file in GMF's Files page. The export did not fix up the inter-page links, which makes sense since it is intended as an archive, not to create an offline readable copy. Once you extract the files into a folder you could use a search-and-replace function in a text editor to change just the wiki URLs into local file URLs.
I really don't remember, it has been too many years since I've wanted to do that. Possibly back when I had a dial-up connection. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: Downloading A Group Wiki
Marcio,
Is it possible to download a group Wiki so that we can read itA moderator of the group can obtain a copy via the Export Group Data tab of the group's Settings page. Specifically I'd like to download this group's wiki. For a group member it isn't so easy. You can of course use your browser's Save Page As function to save each wiki page as an .html file. That would get tedious with a large collection of pages. And the inter-page linkages would point back to the site, rather than to the downloaded copy. It seems to me there is (or was?) a utility or browser function to traverse all the pages linked from a given starting page, saving copies of those pages and fixing the inter-page linkages as it went. Something like that could rapidly get out of hand (attempt to download the entire world wide web) so it had limits you could set for how many levels deep to traverse, and also controls to not follow links that take one outside of a base URL. Of course what you'd ideally want is something that collects only the wiki page content, and not the surrounding Groups.io framework (header, nav column on the left, footer, various buttons, etc). The simplest answer may be to ask a group moderator to export a copy for you. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi,Is it possible to download a group Wiki so that we can read it offline, carry it on a flash drive or something like that? Specifically I'd like to download this

Re: Screening Questions
Hi Avraham
I am not sure whether you saw this group's wiki. Lots of good info there. You can ask others to look at it too - membership in this forum or in Groups.io are not required. /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/home Frances -- /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki /static/help More help: use the search button at the top of the Messages list. |
Re: Screening Questions
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý
The way I do this for my group is I went to settings, then member notices.? I put in my screening questions as a member notice, saved the notice, checked the box to make the notice active.? Then when anyone applies to my restricted group, they should get a
message back with the requested information contained in the member notice.

Hi,
We are testing out Groups.io. One problem we encountered is that we cant seem to screen people who request to join the group. The only option is to approve/reject. Does anyone know how to include screening questions that need to be answered when people subscribe? Thank you! Avraham |

Re: Pending Notices and the Applicants response.
I just rejected a message using BCC All Moderators and I got a copy of the rejection notice without having to tick the other box.

Of late I have stopped receiving those copies, although the other two seem to receive them OK. I have flagged this up with Support but as yet have not received any comment back. FWIW emailing a member with Bcc: All Moderators still appears to be working correcty. Chris |

Re: Pending Notices and the Applicants response.
Shal,
Thank you for your response.? The same email address was used when xyz replied to the Pending Notice.? Having just clicked my '+owner' tab, I see that the last recorded response there was 6 May (19).? I then looked up the member who had replied to the Pending Message and it was there as well -? "xyz sent message "WildAx" to owners via email" However, three days later another member replied to the Pending Message (same wording as before) and that showed in their '+owner' but not mine so it appears that something has changed. Within our Group, there are two Moderators and one Owner.? I am the Owner and one of the Moderators.? I see that subject to appropriate permissions, the (non-owner) Moderator should also see replies to the Pending Message and this is not occurring at all - is this normal? Hope you can advise further. -- Peter |

Re: How many groups can I form?
Neil,
How many groups can I form?I don't believe that there is a published limit. Be aware that new groups are held inactive (no message posting) until approved by Groups.io - so if there is an appearance of abuse, such as creating an excessive number of groups, they would likely not be approved. Every time I complete a large group training can I start an IO groupMost likely yes, unless the number of them is outrageous. On the other hand if these group trainings have something in common you might consider creating a primary group that represents your "school" as a whole, and within that subgroups for each group training. Subgroups have almost the identical features and controls as primary groups, except that 1) every subgroup member must also be a primary group member, and 2) the primary group and all its subgroups are on the same "plan" (Basic, Premium or Enterprise). So, if there's some value to being able to send a message to all of the participants in all of the trainings the primary group would make that easy, no need to cross-post the message to a multitude of groups. Likewise if there's some value to having a central store of Files, Photos or Wiki pages that are available to participants in all trainings. The primary group would need initial approval when created, but the subgroups would not. Re: Pending Notices and the Applicants response.
Peter,
For some reason, I receive an email from xyz providing the requiredThe only thing I can think of is that perhaps xyz sent the message using a different email address than the one which is pending in your group. It seems like a long shot though, because why would the person do that rather than simply reply to your Notice. Messages to +owner from non-members are not recorded anywhere, though the fact the message was received is recorded in the group's Activity log: "... sent message ... to owners via email" I do not remember changing any of my settings, has something changedThere is no control for this, nor am I aware of any change.
