Re: Messages Going Missing
Allison Schaefer
Hi Bruce,? Thank you, this is helpful.? I am sorry I can't be more specific with the problem but I have a feeling it's a user issue so now I have some things to check and follow up with.?? Allison? Re: Spamfilter
Peter,
I think there are over 500,000 subscribers who depend upon groups.io to provide continuous and consistent service. Allowing individual groups' owners to endanger the ability of groups.io to remain a non blacklisted email provider to those people is far more important that the minor effort required by owners to properly educate their subscribers about this issue. It is simply a case where the good of all far outweighs individual desires. -- Bob Bellizzi Founder, Fuchs Friends?? |

Notwithstanding your post in beta, I very much doubt he will reconsider such a broad issue. Review my answers in this topic for my reasons for saying that:
?
For your request to get any traction I think you'll need to present Mark with a reason that none of the existing choices are sufficient for your needs. So far as I've seen you haven't presented a compelling use case for bypassing the existing Spam Control options. I don't think "It should be the owner's choice" is sufficient, you'll get further if you can outline why you need that choice.

For future reference, I've created a new wiki page:??/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/How-RSVPs-work.
Most of the content has been plagiarized from Andy's post on this subject. It remains a little crude, so feel free to fine-tune it. Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |

Attached is an example of an RSVP screen. I didn't populate everything when I set up this event but it should give you an idea.

Check out the Pricing page, a link is found at the bottom of every page.? If there's something that you're not clear on, maybe we can help.

Re: RSVP
Hi,
I've been doing some testing of that function and from what I've seen it works OK but there's a limitation. Here's a summary of what I've found so far:
Unfortunately there is currently no way to change RSVPs at the owner level. It's on the TODO list, but I'm not sure when it will happen. So, I wouldn't bet that this will change anytime soon. I hope that helps for now. Regards, Andy |

And then if we do that, can they just click "rsvp" or do they have to log in?RSVPs work in a manner that is very similar to polls. The link in the #cal-invite takes you to the groups.io site, where you have to click a button to Accept/Decline. And if you aren't logged in, you have to do that first. Unfortunately, a large subset of the Subscribers in my groups find logging in to be too burdensome, and instead respond via email. You might have more success in your group, but it's mainly for this reason that I find these functions to have limited utility.? One thing I'm unsure of, since I don't regularly use it...many of our events are set up months in advance and people simply do not know if they're going to be able to attend when the #cal-invite goes out. Do #cal-reminders also have the RSVP link??If not, they should. Hope this helps, Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |

Since the attachments have individual checkboxes I concur with J_Catlady that this is a bug, not a feature suggestion (the feature is present, but not working).
It can take a few days, or longer, for Mark to respond. He tends not to reply until he's fixed the problem, unless he has questions about it. This seems to clear for him to have questions, so you may not get a personal response until it is fixed. Re: Spamfilter
Peter,
I think it boils down to Google Groups being "too big to block", even if it were to get a slightly bad reputation for forwarding spam. Groups.io isn't that well known by the major mailbox providers, and must keep its reputation as clean as it can in order to help ensure that its messages get through to group members. Also, even if deliverability were not a daily battle, I think Mark takes a personal interest in running a spam-free service.
