Re: Files Question
Looks pretty good, Chris! My only comment at this time is on Max Size in Email, near the very end. I believe this setting only applies to photo attachments; embedded images are automatically rescaled to not more than 640px in the long dimension (ref:??).
Hope this helps, Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |
Re: Messages delivered to group, but not e-mailed to me
Ken,
I am receiving messages from others, but NOTHING from (including today's posts on this group). ?
It would seem that Hotmail/Outlook are currently delaying messages from Groups.io (beta ).
?
Does "No E-mail deliveries" mean that e-mail delivery is somehow turned off? I do see a?Most Recent Unsuccessful Attempt entry for you in your GMF subscription, saying "451 4.7.650 The mail server [66.175.222.12] has been temporarily rate limited due to IP reputation." I don't know why something similar isn't showing in your other groups. Maybe the fields are not updated frequently enough. I'm a little surprised that the delayed messages aren't also listed as Recent Bounces - I thought re-try requests (4xy responses) counted as "bounces". But maybe not for this display box.
?
As to having delivery "turned off", on your subscription page you would likely have noticed if you had been switched to No Email or Special Notices Only, or a digest setting. The other way email delivery could be "turned off" would be if your Message Selection (under Advanced Preferences) were set to Following Only unexpectedly (without you having followed anything). That too seems unlikely, and none of the above has happened in your GMF subscription.

Messages delivered to group, but not e-mailed to me
Starting this morning messages have been posted to out group, but are not being e-mailed to me (Outlook and Hotmail accounts). I have NOT modified anything in the group settings for over a wekkand this only started today (8-7-18).? I also have a non-owner account that is NOT receiveing group.io e-mails either. I am receiving messages from others, but NOTHING from groups.io (including today's posts on this group). I went to Subscriptions and the following "appears" to tell me noting was sent out although message#s #129205- #129207 were posted on the group today. Does "No E-mail deliveries" mean that e-mail delivery is somehow turned off? Any help would be appreciated. Most Recent Successful Delivery

I'm not sure whether this trick would work, but you can try: ban that non-subscriber (former member): Members - Banned, copy-paste the email address, Ban User; in the Banned list click the row, click "+owner Messages". Then unban (remove from Banned list: Membership - Remove). |
Re: help with confirmation process
Jonathan, I have a couple of people who have subscribed to one of my lists, but have never confirmed their email and thus are in limbo as far as getting and sending messages on the list.? Both have "" addresses.? That might relate to a general problem delivering to hotmail recently. See beta . I'm not sure if there's anything you can do but try periodically until this gets fixed. Is hotmail known for putting these kind of messages into spam? Hotmail has been known to have deliverability problems with mail from Groups.io in the past. It wouldn't surprise me if? they sometimes
deliver them to the user's spam folder
rather than outright bounce the messages, as currently. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Sounds like you may have been on New User Moderated status:

I use the web interface as you can see the status of your service request there. You may need to login using your groups.io credentials. help with confirmation process
I have a couple of people who have subscribed to one of my lists, but have never confirmed their email and thus are in limbo as far as getting and sending messages on the list. Both have "hotmail.com" addresses. I have been in touch with them and am trying to help them get confirmed. I've sent them additional confirmation emails and we'll see what happens. Is hotmail known for putting these kind of messages into spam? Do they have a whitelist process I can suggest? Is there anything else I can do to help these people finalize their subscriptions?
Thanks. Jonathan |

Chris,
The (serious) downside is that the font size is such that it feels asI had the same reaction. For GMF's longer pages I simply capitulated, reasoning that the utility of the TOC outweighed the style. I sort-of get the problem: in order to have many levels you end up with extremes at the top and bottom levels. I've toyed with the idea of looking at the CSS for the wiki to see if those header styles can be adjusted to suit the nesting depth of a given page; but I've never found the round tuit appropriate to that task. Either I am doing something silly (a possibility that cannot beAll I can tell you is that every time I tried to get clever with the header levels the TOC punished me for it. I've only had success by ensuring that I've used the headers in proper hierarchy and that every other paragraph is a P. Emails held for monitoring.
Recently I sent an email that was held for monitoring. I resent it and saw it go through without monitoring. How can I debug something that's inconsistent? Subsequent emails were sometimes going through and sometimes were held for monitoring. Someone suggested that the problem might be with showing my phone number in my signature. I removed the phone number and haven't had an email held for monitoring since. Can anyone shed light on this issue?

On the resulting page, look for a grey box at the top. It should say something like "We have received your invitation and will accept it soon. There is no need to send another invite." If it says that, you are all set, all you can do is wait. If it doesn't say that, then it seems that Yahoo is continuing to have problems with their invitation system. I'll put it to the test later today and report back.Almost a case of curiouser and curiouser... If I make the section titles in h1 then the ToC works as one would want. The (serious) downside is that the font size is such that it feels as though one's eyeballs are being attacked with a lump hammer; it's far, far worse than an email written IN CAPITALS! I then tried h3 section titles, and set the page name at the top to be h1 and then added another line after it in h2; this should have satified the requirement to have "lower" header sizes prior to those selected for the ToC. Once again the finished ToC was a mess, and for some reason included the h1 & h2 sizes as well as the specified maximum of h3. Even having h2 titles under the h1 page name failed as well. Either I am doing something silly (a possibility that cannot be discounted!) or the ToC formatting is completely awry. I think I will ditch the idea of any ToC or linked Index at the top (I don't know how to do one of them either) rather than hold up the production of the wiki page; after all it's the substance of it that matters rather than having a ToC at the top. Perhaps walking the dog shortly will provide further inspiration and enlightenment... Chris |
