How to Transfer a Yahoo Group, but Reduce the Photos Section
#howtoguide
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý?????????????? Or, you could delete the ones you no longer need before starting the transfer. Assuming you can get that to work. ?????????????? I don?t know if this only refers to my old yahoo group, but I?ve been trying to delete the non-needed fotos there (of close to 1500) ever since we were transferred. But unfortunately it?s not possible to delete, neither fotos nor albums. ? Victoria ? |

Re: How to Transfer a Yahoo Group, but Reduce the Photos Section

Patty,
So, I have a couple of groups that have been in existence for about 8I concur with Dano's comment - when one of my groups faced this issue the transfer agent suspended the transfer long enough for me to select a lower resolution for the images. That brought the total in under 1 GB. Or, you could delete the ones you no longer need before starting the transfer. Assuming you can get that to work. Or, you might be able to request that the transfer agent skip the older folders. Or, you could upgrade to Premium for one month and take care of deleting enough to get back down under 1 GB after the transfer. That's assuming your total is under 10 GB. Re: Counting emails was Re: [GMF] In Process? AND vailidty of policy change
Ilene,
Just none of the messages moved and it hasn't been resolved. At the completion of the transfer you would have been sent a notice telling you what transferred and what didn't. Have you received that? And if so what did it say about messages? Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: email photos
Anita,
Also if my group has a topic every day that might be good morning isWhat Frances suggested would work, but only if you're posting by the group's web page (New Topic). Posting by email the match of the subject text causes them to thread together if they were posted within a couple days of each other. Every morning would be within that range. If posting by web is too inconvenient, your other option would be to vary the subject text slightly. Perhaps add the day of the week to the subject text, or something else to prevent each from being identical to another posted within a few days. When I transferred my largest group, Mark sent me an email and asked me if I wanted to keep the photos as they were, have him resample them down in size, or go premium. I went premium for a number of reasons, but I could have given approval to have him resample them so none were larger than 1024 x 1024. That would have dropped the total size from 1.7 Gb down to 413 Mb and easily have given us all the images at a size equivalent to the largest image that would fit on a single screen. That may be the solution to your situation, but not knowing how much space photos currently take up, that's not an absolute answer. When Mark ran the transfer he gave me the options, and knowing then what could be done made the solution pretty simple. That may be the best way for you to proceed. Dano ----- Original Message -----
I have a question - feeling it is time to transfer my Yahoo Groups over to Groups.IO, now, as it appears that Yahoo Groups has finally had the last nail placed in the coffin with the advent of true zero support. So, I have a couple of groups that have been in existence for about 8 years or more, and the Photos sections have become quite large. I am trying to keep my groups under the free size limit, as I don't have any way to charge my list members for a larger option. Is there any way I can reduce the number of photos that will transfer across? Or, after the transfer, is there a way I can delete or remove older photo albums? Both groups have photo albums that are set up by the month/year, so it is relatively easy to figure out which photo folders are the oldest, and just delete those older year's photo albums. Any suggestions would be very welcome. -- Patty S. |

It's probably just your browser cache. Try CTRL-F5.

email photos
I deleted a message but in the folder email photos the links still appear and it wont let me delete it. How can I get rid of those email photos that still appear. The photo does not appear just the name and a blank.? I am trying to get if off the email photos folder.

Yep, you just did not look in the right place.
Open the post to read it. At the very end, after the post you should find links for Reply? ?Like? and More Click/tap More and, if you are a moderator with the correct privilege or an owner you will see Delete this post -- Bob Bellizzi Founder, Fuchs Friends?? |

Re: Delete a post without deleting the whole thread

Alex,
... is there any way to delete that one post? Or maybe better yet, edit out the offensive content? Both options should be available to you (as a mod/owner) via the More menu: ![]() If you choose to edit the message be aware that you'll have the option to resend the edited message to the group or not; but it will be emailed to the original poster (you don't have an option about that). I did find where I could delete the whole thread but, oddly IMO, I was unable to find a function that would allow me to delete the one offending reply/A moderator might not have those options, see the Edit Archives permission in each moderator's list of permissions. But having that permission should enable both editing/deleting messages as well as topics, so that wouldn't explain why you see one and not the other. Delete a post without deleting the whole thread
#messages
In, for example, a situation where one member replied on a thread with a reply that I don't want in the archive (Oh, say, it was off-topic, obscene,?or violated the intent of my group) is there any way to delete that one post? Or maybe better yet, edit out the offensive content?
?I did find where I could delete the whole thread but, oddly IMO, I was unable to find a function that would allow me to delete the one offending reply/ I say "oddly" because that (ability to delete individual posts from the archive) is there even in lame old yahoogroups. Did I just not look in the right place? -- {This message was sent with 100% recycled electrons} |

Re: Profile Photo
Don,
I see some of our group members, have a thumbnail profile photo nextAccount > Identity There you'll find your Account Profile followed by profiles for each of your group subscriptions. When you join a group your Account Profile becomes the default for that group's description, but you can then tailor them for each group. Click the blue Edit button (on the right) and you can upload a profile photo. Does a picture have to be resized to thumbnail size or is itIt is automatically resized, then cropped to square (centered). Do they count against storage?I don't think so, I think they're associated with the member's account, not with the group's storage. Also they aren't explicitly included in the list. They wouldn't be very big after resizing anyway. /static/pricing#what-is-counted-towards-the-storage-limits-for-my-group Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Pedja,
Thanks for this suggestion. I thought this is the right place to ask. This is a good place to knock it about, get others' ideas and comments, and refine it. But ultimately beta is where suggestions must go to be seen by Groups.io management.
