The Maximum Photo Size setting reduces any uploaded photos to that size, it doesn't reject them.? The size when viewed online may also be different than stored size.? I limit one of my groups to 312x312, but they show as about double that on my monitor.
For email size, it reduces them before sending them out.? If they're sent as attachments, that can be further limited so it's a link when it's over a certain size. Several of our members are on slow services, so I try to be as accommodating as I can.? I remember those days well since I only got 'reasonable' speed and capacity about 3 years ago. It is my understanding that Groups.io does automatically resize.
If you check settings, the photo section says: Max Size In Photos Section?
Automatically resize photos uploaded to the photos section that are larger than a specific size.

If the topic is locked, it will show Locked instead.? You could also try with a different browser in case it's a setting on your end.

Maximum Photo size

I have had complaints that the large photo size allowed took too long to download. So I changed it to 1024X1024 for photos in a message, and 2048x2048 in the Photos section. Now I get complaints that this will reduce messages and annoy subscribers when they find their large photo is rejected. Subscribers feel that the Group settings should not be determined by those with slow services. Is there any way the underlying software can automatically reduce the submitted photo sizes to the value set in the Settings? This is instead of rejecting the photo. . It is not a comment on the quality of the resulting photo, since 1024 is reasonable for the purpose here. No photos in my technical-purposed Group will ever be made into a 8x10 portrait. And the lower value settings require all members to reduce the size of their photo before posting. He can't do that yet since there is nobody on the Yahoo group list to make moderator if the invite has not been accepted. I'm now about a week out from sending two invites for the last of the groups I am moving. That's a bit longer than the previous 3 groups took, but for now I assume that the process is ongoing as the Groups.io transfer page says my invite has been received and I should hear soon. John I beg to differ. If you click the "Yahoo Group Instructions" button you get a list of steps that are needed. At the top you see a note in pink background that reads "NOTE: You must start the transfer process for your group?before?you send an invite to [email protected]. If you sent an invite before starting the transfer process, and [email protected] is not already a member of your group, you will need to send another invite. Prasad

Hi Tom Have you clicked the green button "Start a New Transfer" and entered name of Yahoo group followed by name of the new group, etc? That is the Step 1. Inviting [email protected] is the second step and must be done after Step 1. There is clearly worded note saying this. If you just send invites without going through Step 1 it will not work.? Any updates on GDPR?

I haven¡¯t seen anything further on this, and GDPR is looming large. Have I missed something? ? My groups are not used for marketing, and in fact have no commercial significance at all: they are purely technical discussion groups relating to specific IT technologies. I have seen no guidance relating to people in my situation who just happen to be the ¡®owner¡¯ or moderator of a group, that is not related to any kind of commercial or charitable organisation. ? I¡¯d be grateful if anyone can give any concrete, specific, valid information on this. If your reply would include the words ¡®I am not a lawyer, but in my opinion ¡¡¯, please don¡¯t bother ¨C I don¡¯t need opinions from non-lawyers. ? Thanks ? Richard |

I think that is what I'll need to do (hold off the Direct add until launch day).? My mess in yahoo had all sorts of permutations (In Yahoo and shouldn't be, not in Yahoo and should be, Mismatch email address between Yahoo and our club, No name in yahoo, Mismatch name in Yahoo, etc).? All of these are being cleaned up as part of the move.? I'm doing this by exporting the Groups.IO member list into Excel and also exporting the Club member list from Word Press into that Excel and then writing formulas that highlight the discrepancies.? Then I fix the issues and repeat till I get a clean sheet.? By delaying the Direct Add of missing folks, I won't get that clean sheet till after go live but I can cope with that.? What, exactly, is the deal with Slack Member Sync. Like Jeff, I was tempted to change over to groups.io exactly because of this advertised feature. But there is zero help anywhere on how to do this. I even pinged tech support and got crickets chirping for 3 days now.

Moderating Files & Photos?
If you have Files set to "subscribers can view, moderators can?upload" there is still an "Upload file" button when you click on the Files tab. ?If you click on it, it takes you through the upload file procedure, but when you click "Add" you are returned to the home page with a message at the top saying "You do not have permission to access that page." ?If that is the case, then why is the upload button there? ?(The upload button does not appear in the Photos section if it is set to the same permission level.)
Am I missing something? ?What I would like to do is "moderate" Files and Photos, requiring a moderator to approve them before posting. Is there a way to moderate File and Photos? Peace, Tom |
