Try just entering tywyn-dolgellaufreecycle in the box. Several folks have reported that this works.

Re: Direct add not complete after 4 days

My Direct Adds appear as quickly as I can change screens so no, it is not normal to take so long. As Owner, I also get a notification that we have a new member in the group. I believe that's the only notice I receive other than, as Bruce said, just going to the Members page and seeing them there. I did set up a "Direct Add" Member Notice so that the new member gets a welcome note - if you also have that set, you might check with the members and see if they received the notice.

Hope you can sort it out.

Barb

My group email is not recognised

Jan Winspear

I was just attempting to transfer my reecycle group to groups io but
was told that the group is not a Yahoo group - the address is a .co.uk
one and has been since 2005 -
tywyn-dolgellaufreecycle@...

Any suggestions please

Down for Maintenance Notice

Hi all,

used to YG breakdowns, changes of features and functionality in 2014 without any announcements, not to speak of a complete lack of support or assistance, I am extremely grateful for the care and accuracy Mark provides for his groups. Sure feedback of existing groups help him to enhance his service, so this is a two-way-ticket. Anyway, considering all this I really don?t think a few hours of timeout without becoming aware make so much difference, especially since all the mails are stored and nothing gets lost.

Could it be we are getting a little too fastidious?

Victoria

In that case, they probably wouldn't even know the site is down. Emails received are queued, then posted when the system is back online. Other than possibly having the exact same time stamp (and I'm not sure about that), there'd be no indication of any outage.

Re: Down for Maintenance Notice

Dear All,

I was not quite sure when this maintenance occured, so the first thing I checked was the status page :-

To my surprise, there is nothing recorded for yesterday (10 May 2018).I would have thought this was the kind of event that should be recorded there. I did find info in the beta group, but that was just the planned outage from 5:00 to 7:00 PDT, not the actual time it lasted. Perhaps, I should make this comment in beta, to make sure Mark sees it?

John Russell

Thanks, Bruce

?

You¡¯re probably right but, given the nature of this private group and the level of technical knowledge of the majority (I know all the members), I doubt they would bother going to that extent!? Which brings us back to your first point¡most people wouldn¡¯t bother with or know what to do with that link in the footer!

?

So, as this type of configuration doesn¡¯t seem possible, I¡¯ll go and find out how to close this topic!

Even then, the recipient could set up an email filter. You're trying to control something that is not in your control anyway.

Re: Down for Maintenance Notice

Paul,

I had two of my late night Emails just disappear last night and now I
guess I understand why.
The maintenance shouldn't have been the cause:

"Email sent during the downtime will be queued and sent when the site is
back up."

Did you look for them in your group's Activity logs?

... but his going on vacation without a clear ¡°I¡¯ll be back by this
date ...
There was notice of both departure and return, though perhaps not as widely distributed as needed.

Lost, gone, nada. They were in my sent file but not the IO file this morning. When I re-sent them later morning (PST) they went right through.

Issues about who should and should not be sent email notices aside, are you saying you actually lost emails? That would actually be a real concern. Or, was it just that they were delayed in showing up?

Re: BRUCE/ transfer from yahoo groups - time frame? #transfer

Dash,

How does on "select your "in process transfer"? Where is it?

1) Go to the Easy Yahoo Group Transfer instructions page.
2) Scroll down to the very bottom.
3) On the right, on the "In Process" list, click on the button on the right.
4) Select the name of the Yahoo Group you want to check on.

If that list is empty, then you don't have any transfers in process. At least, none initiated by you (the email address you used when you logged in to Groups.io).

See also message #8262.

I wouldn't want an email about it.? I do everything online and was well aware of this downtime.? I don't want more unnecessary email, so I'd want a way to disable it.
I suspect that part of it is the fact that it happened at 5 am PDT, so there may not have been an expectation that many people would notice.
international users .. ?

5 am PDT is UTC-8 or something like that, which would put the maintenance into the late evening for europeans, for example?..

I clicked the button on May 5th and my group has been showing "We are in process of transferring your group" for five days now. Is there any way to check the status in more detail?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Dear ? (it¡¯s good protocol to sign your messages.)

???????????????

My problem:? I am? being driven crazy with the amount of robocalls and similar.

?

I have AT&T Uverse VOIP landline, and use Nomorobo (). ?It doesn¡¯t catch them all, but it does catch most of them. If you have Verizon FiOS service (or a bunch of other VOIP carriers), in the US, then it is available for you. But it¡¯s not available for traditional analog landline service . It¡¯s free to home subscribers; the commercial customers pay for the whole thing (like groups.io ;- )). ?They have a humongous database of robocallers. When you are called, the phone rings once, so nomorobo can grab the number. If it¡¯s in the database, you won¡¯t hear it ring again. You can request that phone numbers be added, and you can request that numbers be removed.

?

It probably catches 80% or more of my landline robocalls. You can also get it for cellphones, for a fee ¨C about $3/mo. I haven¡¯t done that yet.

BRUCE/ transfer from yahoo groups - time frame? #transfer

How does on "select your "in process transfer"? Where is it?? I did the same thing that I did before when a group transferred .... I am confused.? dash?? Step 4

After you have made the?[email protected]?member a moderator, return here, select your?In Process?transfer, and tell us that you are ready for the transfer to happen. Once we receive the go ahead, depending on load, within one business day, we will download the member list of your Yahoo Group and directly add your members to your new Groups.io group. We will add all members that are currently confirmed and not bouncing to your group. Members' subscription preferences (email, no email, digest, etc.) will be preserved. Members' posting privileges (group default, override - moderated, etc.) will also be preserved. However, moderator and co-owner status will not be preserved, so all moderators will need to be reinstated after the transfer. If someone is already a member of your new group, we will not change anything about their subscription.

It's not that complicated.

Send out an advance notice to owners, up to them to notify their members

Can the cat pictures. Put up a professional notice of the site's status

And yes, I submitted a post to that effect over on the beta site.

End of story.

Duane -- Thanks for this. I was looking for something like that, but people kept responding to the poll via email instead of actually logging in and voting. I locked the topic to stop this from happening and when you do that the Edit Poll option does not show up.

On that basis I assumed locking the topic did it. Now I realize I had to unlock the topic before I could close the poll!
