Re: $$ Contributions
There's an item on the TODO list to allow charges via your group, , but no telling when that might happen.? For our club, I use Paypal, but another service might work better for you.

Re: FW: Permanent Error
Looks to me like it was rejected by comcast, according to the details, so never got to groups.io

FW: Permanent Error
I just got rejected for not having a subject. Is that an IO deal or something I've not run into since doing Email?

Re: merging two groups (revisited)
I don't see why not.? There have been reports of merging Y! groups here with no problems.? The order of the messages may leave a bit to desire because of the time lag, but they should be there.

Re: I got unsubscribed!
One additional bit of information before you tun into it.? The 30 day login is per device.? If you log in using your computer, it will stay for 30 days unless you log out.? If you log in on your phone or another computer a few days later, that login won't expire until 30 days from that date, but the first computer will log you out after it's original 30 days.

Re: Member Requests support his STMP alias
SMTP stands for Simple Message Transport Protocol. Its basically how all email systems send messages.
The statement of groups.io not knowing what it is is a very generic statement from your user.? I suggest you ask for more information as the fact that everyone receives their email and can reply via email to posts in their groups proves that Groups.io does understand the protocol. What issues is the user seeing. If details are provided maybe troubleshooting is possible. |
Re: Aol.com address formatting issue ?
That's all correct.? It's the way groups.io has to handle aol addresses, as well as some others, because of the way they handle email.? An email address has no distinction between upper and lower case.? The reply to sender should work.? If they get individual emails, they can just use Reply in the email client.

merging two groups (revisited)
Hello, Due to some political drama, a
long-standing listserv splintered years ago. The former (Group A) is no
longer active, but "archived" at Yahoo!. The newer one (Group B) has now
moved here to Groups.io (Group B+). If I can get permission from the
owner of the old group, is it possible to import the old Group A from
Yahoo! to Group B+ here? |

Have you inadvertently moderated threads? Check for gavel icons in Topics view. Are you using hashtags that were inadvertently edited to moderate their threads?

But you can only access the groups' content (depending on the visibility and privacy settings of each group) if you are logged in. Can I make a member a Moderator and have him invite me? First, you don't need to be invited. You have NOT been unsubscribed from any group. Second, if you wanted to make someone a mod in your group, you would have to be logged in to do that. Once you're logged into groups.io, you have access to all of your groups. If you're logged out, you don't have access to any of them. You can't stay permanently logged into groups.io because that times out after a month, as previously noted. -- J |
Aol.com address formatting issue ?
I have a regular poster on our list who still uses . His address is Word1.Word2@....? The header at the top of his posts (I am moderating all posts) has? "name via "... Note the change in capitalization and the "=". What brought this to my attention is that his posts also are lacking a "Reply to Sender" link. This is starting cause a lot of trouble in that folks reply to the entire list instead of just him. Suggestions, other than get him off of AOL ? He REALLY likes being an AOL holdout.. Thanks. |
Re: Moderation
Except that that doesn¡¯t explain why people I know have posted many times on the Yahoo group and are not listed as moderated on groups.io, including myself, are being moderated now. They were not being moderated on yahoo.

I do not recall any when I transferred my group 1 month ago from Yahoo where it had been for 13 years. To get the temporary link, I just used my e-mail address, I think. It asked for a password, but I have none, and I got the link anyway. If my subscribers remain logged in how can it be that I cannot? How do I get a permanent subscription to Groups.io? Can I make a member a Moderator and have him invite me? Will it be rejected if I am already a member? It is unlikely that this logged out problem was ever intended, It seems odd that all the groups.io that I am a subscriber to logged me out all at once. How can I get a permanent subscription? Thanks, Richard |
Re: Importing Facebook Group info and membership list
#importingdata
Sara, ? I have a closed group setup in Facebook and when you post to the group, it puts it up on the group page and, if you are group member, you get a notice of a posting.? We have not had a lot of activity on the Facebook Group because most of our members are older and not real friendly towards Facebook. We only have 14 members in the Facebook segment of our group. Our postings do not go to individual Facebook pages. ? Now that Facebook has become such a problem with compromised data, even those members we do have on Facebook want to leave - and I am in that group. Also, I am seriously thinking of shutting down my personal page. ? That¡¯s what I think I know. ? Bill ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Sarah k Alawami

Re: Importing Facebook Group info and membership list
#importingdata
There's not an Easy Transfer for FB like there is for Yahoo or Google groups.? Hopefully someone has done this and can chime in with some tips.
The FB integration just takes posts from a public FB page and sends them to a groups.io group.? It doesn't work with FB groups. Duane -- Help: /static/help GMF's Wiki: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Search button at the top of Messages list A few site FAQs: /static/pricing#frequently-asked-questions |

I entirely agree that setting them to Default group policy would be best. My issue is that they are already set to that, and yet I am being asked to moderate them.Again, that's because they were M (moderated) in your yahoo group, so they stayed M (moderated) when transferred over. The transfer process doesn't count the number of yahoo messages people have posted and set them to NuM or unmoderated accordingly. It just keeps everybody's status the same as it was in yahoo. You should KEEP your group's setting exactly as it is (NuM with 1 post), and either slowly set the appropriate M members to NuM according to whether you think they've neer posted, or keep them M and unmoderate them by hand as their posts come in.? ? -- J |
Re: Moderation
Hence my confusion. Never mind, I will soldier on, and hope if I approve enough messages often enough it will sort itself out.
