You already can. Just go to Admin->Settings and click on "member notices." Create your custom invitation, make it active, and save it.

Re: Using Apple Mail receives return -- Cannot Send Mail; the recipient "[email protected]" was rejected by the server.

Thanks for the advice. I'll get back with her later today.

By the way, it's Colette asking. Sharon was giving assistance.

Thanks,
Colette Sanders

Chats are like temporary subgroups.? Most folks use them as an IRC for a discussion that doesn't need to be on the group.? Anything posted there isn't sent out as an email.

That confirms what I was able to find in the settings. ?I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss it if it was there. ?Thanks very much, Duane.

it would be great for a group like mine to be able to set photos to be viewed by the public, at the album level. ?But, maybe that's just me. ?:)

Wow, thanks Duane, that is VERY weird. Maybe what this actually confirms is that the pending notices go missing in my group. However, every time Mark has looked into this, he's said the messages are logged on HIS end as having been successfully sent. I need to email him at support again about this.

No, the only things you can allow non-members to see are the Wiki, Guidelines, or messages.

Re: Using Apple Mail receives return -- Cannot Send Mail; the recipient "[email protected]" was rejected by the server.

Apple Mail is a software program, like Outlook, not an email service like ymail or gmail.

Unlike Yahoo, you may only have one email address per account in groups.io

Re: Using Apple Mail receives return -- Cannot Send Mail; the recipient "[email protected]" was rejected by the server.

Sharon,
Thanks for your reply. I'm sort of new at moderating so my question probably seems naive.?

When she sends from GMAIL all is fine (I assume she means that she's using a computer). When she tries to send from Apple Mail (maybe from her iPhone) she gets a box stating? Cannot Send Mail; the recipient "SoleilCanton@groups.io" was rejected by the server.?I clearly need to get back with her and check that I have the scenario correct.?

I have an Apple ID which I rarely use but the email address is the same as my GMAIL address. I don't use the Apple Mail service so I'm not familiar with it (I use GMAIL even on my iPhone). I'll ask her if her Apple ID is different than her GMAIL although I would have thought that someone sending from an email not on the member list would have produced a different error message. ???

Thanks for trying to help,
Colette

I assume you mean when she sends from the Google email website, there is no problem but when she sends from her computer using Apple Mail, there is.

Groups.io subscriptions are for your email address. So as long as that is the same I can¡¯t imagine how Groups.io would care. I use AppleMail all the time and I can¡¯t imagine how could be a bad setting in Apple Mail.

Delivery Failure and Undeliverable

Same with my group. It had close to 600 members at transfer time. I sent private emails to all of them. The ones that were bounced I removed. Some adresses didn?t exist any more; others obviously forgot that they joined the group up to 12 years ago.

?

This is a good way of getting rid of inactive members.

Thanks for the replies, but i dont think anybody pointed me in the direction I wanted to go, other than negatively, perhaps!

SO do I take it that there is no way to put a group address on a websigte or elsewhere asking people to join, with a, or the, group address

eg Groups.io/M0VOG? ?????

Yahoo group appear in the search machines, but it seems from the replies that "IO" groups dont, so how does anybody find M0VOG???

Please excuse me4, but I am new to all this.

I "own" a couple of groups, how do I invite anybody to join them?? I know I can list all the emails of specific people and they will all get a specific request, but that is time consuming as each has to be individually typed.

Is there not some way to just broadcast " if you want to join, go to:? Groups.io" and then a pointer to the specific group?

I would also like to put this link on a web site - can I?

Thanks

Mike

Customizing invitations

Are there any plans to make more customization possible?? I would love to be able to compose an invitation from scratch.

I've done a quick search of this group and did not find an answer.? Is it possible to allow the general public (don't have to be logged in or subscribed) access to view the photos section of my group?

Re: Tracking Pending Member and Welcome Messages

In fact, I can pretty much confirm at this point that none of them are logged in the member's email deliveries - not the pending subscription notice, nor the confirm notice, nor the welcome message. You have to just assume they were sent.
