The Name field is just a name.

Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 500 Error: Please retry later.
That had to be taken to groups.io's support. May be the problem was fixed already.

Re: Import ICS Calendar to groups.io Calendar? #howtoguide #transfer #calendar

Rox,

We are migrating from Wiggio Groups and I can export the existing
calendar from them but can't see how to import the events into our new
groups.io.
I don't think there is an import capability.

I moved a couple of Yahoo Groups to Groups.io in the last few weeks and the Calendar is one feature that was not copied from Yahoo. I've been taking it month-by-month, manually filling in the next month's events at the beginning of each month. So next week I'll be filling in November's events.

You might contact [email protected] to see if they can import the calendar for you.

Re: Member getting permanent error posting from email

I apologize, but after posting this message, it stopped working. I don't know why. So, I'm still in the same boat as you. I wish that I could figure it out and will keep trying. I can't seem to find the answer when I do a search in the GroupsManagerForum. I found your message, but there have been no replies.

With Yahoo groups, when I received a group email, I just hit reply and everything worked. Now, I have to go to the groups.io website to post replies.

I also, used to be able to quote text in replies. In groups.io, it only quotes the previous message. I wish that I could figure out that one, too.

Again, I apologize for not being able to help you with your problem.

Take Care,

Rich C

Hi,

I think I may have figured it out. I don't know if I did it correctly, but it is working now.

Here's what I did:

Go to your group home
Select Admin
Select Integrations
Select Email Integration, it says "Create a receive-only email address that posts to your group."
Click on "Edit Email Integrations"
Click on "+Add an email address"
In the "Name" box, type "[email protected]"
Add a hashtag, if you would like.
Check if you want moderation, or not
Click on the "+Add" button
It will then show your email address and when it was created.

I tested it out by replying to an email that I sent to the group and it worked. It actually solved two problems for me, because I could not figure out how to reply with quoted text, either.

Like I said previously, I don't know if I did it correctly, but it's working now and solved two problems simultaneously. I'm happy.

Hoped this helped.

Import ICS Calendar to groups.io Calendar? #howtoguide #transfer #calendar

We are migrating from Wiggio Groups and I can export the existing calendar from them but can't see how to import the events into our new groups.io. we have a few dozen events scheduled through next year and I really don't want to have to enter each one manually. I hope there's a solution I just haven't found when I searched here.?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

Re: Moderators always have Special Notice privilege?

Drew,

I guess I would suggest that the use of special notices AND hashtags
should be optional privileges assignable by the owners.
Create/Delete Hashtags is already a moderator privilege. Did you mean a separate permission for using a hashtag created by an owner or another mod?

Shal

Re: Moderators always have Special Notice privilege?

Jet,

Why would you have moderators you do not trust?
There are limits to trust; otherwise they could all be co-owners.

I like having control over moderator permissions for things which would be particularly harmful if misused - intentionally or inadvertently.

That said, I don't think Special Notices are very likely to be misused in a damaging way, so I don't put a high priority on having a permission for them.

Shal

Re: Moderators always have Special Notice privilege?

Drew,

Unless I've missed something, it seems that Moderators always have
the privilege to send messages as Special Notices.
True.

Shouldn't this be an optional privilege to be set by the Owner?
Perhaps. My only concern with this is that there are quite a few permission check boxes already. Is it really necessary to micro-manage this particular activity?

Shal

Re: Moderators always have Special Notice privilege?

We have several in our group who are moderators in name only. The only privilege we had intended for them was the use of hashtags on announcements for the events that they manage within our club.

I guess I would suggest that the use of special notices AND hashtags should be optional privileges assignable by the owners.

Why would you have moderators you do not trust ?as moderator I would not moderate for an owner who did not trust me.
I have kept a group I moderate going for a year while the owner has medical issues.

How is it not an issue? By that logic, the moderators should all be in touch with each other offlist to decide who is allowed to do what. I don't think so...

I agree that it should be a specific privilege. You might want to suggest that to Mark in the beta group.

Re: banning a member from ever joining a groups.io list

Hey, thanks for giving me the steps. I had to play with it a bit as the site looks a bit different with safari and voiceover, but again thanks so much. All is taken care of.

Blessings and happy Wednesday

Go to the Members list, and then use the Members tab (button across the top) to select "Banned".

Below the list of banned email addresses is an entry box for you to add an address to the banned list. There you can enter an address that isn't currently a member of the group.

If for example I know that x causes trouble is there a way to ban all
of their email address and they just get rejected post haste?
You would have to know and enter each of their email addresses. There's no facility to ban a "person" or "account" and have it automatically ban all of their email addresses.

It all depends on when you created the group. You could take him up to two days if you created it on the weekend.
