I did not knowingly request a login link so if I didn't request it does that mean someone else did?

Click on the row (anywhere but the checkbox) and an Update Row page opens.

Same sort of affordance as opening a member's page in the Members list: click on it to open (and optionally edit).

Re: Deleting email addresses

Frances,

Groups.io wouldn't allow me to change the email address since it said
that I already have that "proposed" email address in use.
Yup. Managing multiple email addresses is one of the weak spots in Groups.io. That's on the radar, but not promised on any schedule.

So, how do I delete a couple of email addresses that I had used for
testing or as email aliases - there are no subscriptions assigned to
these addresses.
Log in to each address and use the /deleteuser page:
/deleteuser
There isn't a link to that page anywhere.
/g/beta/message/7300

Make sure you've logged out of your main email address, you don't want to accidentally delete the wrong address.

The easy way to log in to these test addresses is to use Email a link to log in. That saves the effort of establishing a password only to delete it.

I don't seem to be able to do that even though I am owner of the sites.
Your ownership of some groups has no bearing on deleting a user account. That can only be done by the owner of the account (which you prove by logging in).

Deleting email addresses

I thought I would use another email address for a group I own since my primary email address was giving problems - I missed a few messages the other day, although they did arrive in the group website.

Groups.io wouldn¡¯t allow me to change the email address since it said that I already have that ¡°proposed¡± email address in use.

So, how do I delete a couple of email addresses that I had used for testing or as email aliases - there are no subscriptions assigned to these addresses. I don¡¯t seem to be able to do that even though I am owner of the sites.

How do you edit a row of a database? I don't see an edit button for rows. I asked in beta but didn't notice a response. Thanks.

Re: Ro -editingposts

I know I had suggested making "like" optional way back, but haven/'t seen any more discussion of it. I don't see anything on the Trello cards, either. You might bring it up on the Beta group as a new topic.

Duane

Re: Ro -editingposts

The "like" feature is not a function that will work well with our group - hurt feelings and all.

Do you think this feature will come under review in the future for an owner to opt out of the feature?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hi,
Thanks for letting me know why it always says no photos as attachments are turned off for group.? I hope Mark will find a way to either make so someone can see recently added albums or photos.? I do not find it hard to find things if I know what was suppose to be looking for and who made the album.? However many in my group seem totally lost even when they know what the album is called or how posted it.

Searching Files

Hello everyone,

Wondering if anyone else is having this problem with searching their files. If you have a search that returns more than 50 hits at the bottom of the search page there are more pages in little page icons.

In our group when I click on those icons it just kicks me back to the beginning of the files instead of to the next page in the search results.?

Also had this problem of being kicked back to main home page when I clicked on a Wiki page from the Wiki "home" page and when I try to switch from thread to message view in the subgroups.?

Re: Recently Posted Photos not working

J_Olivia Catlady

Oh, I remember this! "Recently posted photos" only refers to and includes photos that were emailed or posted as attachments, not photos that were "uploaded" into a photo album.?

I think that's another semantic difference ("posted" vs. "uploaded") that falls on deaf ears as far as users are concerned.?

I can't remember what Mark decided to do about this, if anything. It might be somewhere in the Trello ToDo list.

Re: Linking Advice?

Shal thanks so much for answering about this. I will definitely post in beta about this. Thanks also for giving the vocabulary needed to ask about this problem :-)

Re: Linking Advice?

LeeAnne,

We came to realize that if there are changes similar to the ones Mark
recently made to the domain names, that links are somewhat unstable. I
am wondering if there is a way we can better preserve links so that if
the domain name changes again we don't have to go through this again?
I don't know of a good solution for this. One approach is to use a link shortening service that allows you to update the links. But that really just substitutes one dependency for another. And you'd need to make and update a link alias for each file.

In this specific case it may be a good idea to ask Mark to support the "legacy" format of the address indefinitely, along with the "subdomain" form. I had thought that he did, but a few quick tests suggests that is only true for the subgroup's home page address.

That would be a request to make in beta@, as GMF@ isn't officially monitored by Mark or anyone at groups.io.

Re: Creating TOC on Wiki

Nancy,

NEW: Table of Contents in Wiki, by adding [TOC:Title:MaxLevel] to a
wiki page.

We're setting up Wiki's and am hoping for a quick review of what this
does and where it goes.
If you're editing the Wiki page in HTML mode (a choice you made when creating the page) then there's a new toolbar button to insert that TOC marking for you. Insert it at the position on the page where you want the Table of Contents to be displayed. You can edit it (as just ordinary text) if later you want to change the title or the number of levels.

I haven't tried it on a page in Markdown mode, and it may not be supported there, but if it is I'd imagine you can just type that text into the page. There's nothing at all it could do on a page in Plain Text mode.

For an example have a look at GMF@'s wiki page "Why use a Subgroup" - that's a TOC with the levels set to 2. If you'd like to see what it looks like in edit mode go ahead and edit the page, then discard your (lack of) changes when you're done.

Creating TOC on Wiki

Hi all

One of upgrades last week was

NEW: Table of Contents in Wiki, by adding [TOC:Title:MaxLevel] to a wiki page.

We're setting up Wiki's and am hoping for a quick review of what this does and where it goes.

Many thanks.

Re: Why use a Subgroup

Hi all,

I've added a link to "Why use a Subgroup" to the Wiki home page in GMF@ now. It's not perfect but I think it is good enough to be useful.
/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki

Thanks Joseph and Duane for your help.

As always, anyone with inspiration feel free to pitch in. Or ask/comment in a message here.

Inspired by a recent conversation in beta@ I've created the bones of a

My intent is to link it in the wiki home under "Best Practices for Group
Management", but it isn't ready for prime time yet. I'm not going to
have time to work on it much more today, so anyone with some inspiration
is invited to put some flesh on those bones, or add some more bones.
