p.s. If yours aren't staying either, I urge you to let Mark know at the support address, [email protected]. So far, Mark has been unable to reproduce the behavior.? ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýIt DOES stay (and is supposed to stay, according to Nark when he added the feature to avoid having to use 'insert link'). It just doesn't stay if the link happens to be the final text on the page.? Sent from my iPhone On May 1, 2016, at 10:10 PM, Frances <travel@...> wrote:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThanks. Interesting, I don't do all of that. turns my text - any text beginning with https etc- into a link if I just hit 'enter'. This successfully created the link, whether or not it is the last text on the page. The weirdness happens after I save the page, exit the wiki, and re-enter it. Upon re-entering, any link that's the last thing on the page has been turned back into plain text. Sent from my iPhone On May 1, 2016, at 8:50 PM, Frances <travel@...> wrote:

Re: Link checking app or software for wiki
No, no problem at all. Just to make sure that we are talking about the same process, here's how I do it. I type the name of the link or page, then select that. Click on the little "add url" icon - second line, left.? Paste the URL from the website that you want to link into the second box - "To what URL should this link go?" Tick the box for the launch of a new page if you want that. (I do - people can navigate the links page easier.) Then click on Insert Link. I also put in any brief description beside the link. I just double-checked to see if there is a problem with it, but none. I don't tend to leave an extra space after that last link in the list because there is enough white space anyway. Frances, I was just wondering: have you had any trouble when a link is the last line in a wiki page? In my group, links that happen to be the last line in a wiki page have been reverting to plain text when I reenter the page. Mark has been unable to reproduce it. Since you're using your wiki in a similar way to mine (as a links library), I've been wondering whether you or anyone else have been having the problem. I am using URL's gleaned from visiting a page and copying/pasting the URL (then hitting "enter" so that turns it into a link). I am not pasting links from Word documents, which I know can be problematic. J On Sun, May 1, 2016 at 5:47 PM, Frances <travel@...> wrote:

Link checking app or software for wiki
Hi, In our travel group, we have a links library in the wiki. I just clicked through all the links to ensure that they were accurate. It would be great if there was link checking software or the ability to add a free service for link checking. I have one for my housing co-op website on Wordpress. I know this is a bit different, but boy, I think it would be useful! Anyone else think this? Or any suggestions on how to do it with Groups.io wikis as is? Frances |

Re: group question
Marvin,
Hi. How do I take over a group, does the current group owner, give meOnly a current owner of the group can change your role to Owner. Note: the owner doesn't have to give up ownership to do that, the group may have more than one owner (and all of them are equal). and also I just ask friends, to be co-admins or co-moderators.If you are a moderator in the group with the permission to Set Moderator Privileges, or if you are an owner in the group, then you can go to the Members list in the group, click on the person you wish to promote, then select Moderator in the Role option. When you do that a list of permissions will appear below their new role, and you can decide what abilities this new moderator should have. Shal |

The current group owner changes your "role" to "owner." Then the current member, if they want to hand it over to you and bow out, changes their role back to "member" (or quits the group or whatever you all plan to do). On Sun, May 1, 2016 at 5:04 AM, marvin hunkin <startrekcafe@...> wrote:

Re: some digests going into 'promotions'
J_Olivia Catlady
Of course, the bigger issue is that this is a miscategorizaton. The only other things in gmails promotions category are outright advertisements. Is there anything that could be don't on the groups.io side to lessen the chances of the miscategorizaton, and is there anything users can do yo teach gmail (as with the 'not spam' feature)?

Thanks. Unfortunately, using the tabs now seems to be the default. They're relatively new and you evidently have to opt out rather than opt in. I suppose the solution is to notify group members of this issue. It seems like a lot of trouble they would have to go to (and in some cases, may be incapable of going to) for a problem they probably don't even realize exists (i.e., missing a digest sometimes). It's insidious. Bad, bad gmail! ;)

some digests going into 'promotions'
J_Olivia Catlady
I'm not sure whether anything can be done about this, or whether it's a subject for beta that Mark could do anything about: recently, the digests for several of the groups I'm in, including my own group sometimes (but not always), are not showing up in my gmail inboxes. Instead, I have to notice the little number next to the word 'Promotions' at the top and click on it to get to them. All the other so-called 'promotions' (aka spam) then appear as well. This seems to be separate from the spam file. I'm concerned that digest members of my group are not seeing this and not getting the digest because they wouldn't look there. Any suggestions as to why and what can be done?

How to add a ToC to your wiki pages
Hi all,
Prompted by a conversation in beta@, I've put together a rough guide to how to use the Table of Contents ("ToC") feature in our groups' wiki pages. How to put a Table of Contents on a Wiki page /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/How-to-put-a-Table-of-Contents-on-a-Wiki-page Comments and improvements are welcome. Shal |

Re: valid email address
Terry,
Is this: < terrys = yahoo.com @ groups.io >Yes and no. It is syntactically valid (as required for it to be used in a From field) but messages sent to that address will go nowhere. That is, if you send a message to that address groups.io will reject it ("bounce" it back at you). Groups.io uses this format for messages from email services (such as Yahoo Mail) that would otherwise attempt to prevent delivery of the message to other group members. It is a work-around to the anti-spoofing technology (DMARC) deployed by Yahoo Mail and some others. That technology has the unfortunate side effect of breaking mailing lists - unless the mailing list takes countermeasures like masking the original From address. Shal |

Re: Keep getting sent link for log in to io
Louise,
I did not knowingly request a login link so if I didn't request it doesPossibly. I'm at a loss to imagine how you might unknowingly request one, but maybe if you were trying to sign in or join a group at the time. It could be an innocent mistake, such as someone with a very similar email address and a tendency to typo. But in any case I concur with J's suggestion that you bring this up with [email protected] to see if they can determine the cause. A feature that Groups.io does not have yet is a way to list your recent logins and login attempts. Shal |

I would contact [email protected] immediately. It's possible someone is trying to hack your account. Or there's a bug. Either way, I would report it. J On Wed, Apr 20, 2016 at 4:10 AM, Louise via Groups.io <knitlou@...> wrote: 3 times over the last couple of days! |
