Re: Sharing responses to postings with entire group
I wouldn't worry about information overload, because users can individually adjust their mail settings. For example, receive all email, receive no email, receive only important group notifications. If receiving all email, they can get them sent out as they arise but they can also opt for a digest, which?means a bunch of emails sent in one larger email about once a week (or more frequently if there's a lot of email that week). Of course, if you make that change, it would make sense to tell your users how to do that. That would be an "important group announcement."?? -P. Do I understand it correctly (someone verified?) that ALL REPLIES to a Topic hashtagged w/ Send as Special Notice, are?also sent with the [Special] prefix?Only Owners/Mods can send messages that end up with the [Special] prefix.? The hashtag properties determine if a member can reply to that: If Replies by Mods Only is not checked then the email reply from a member can contain the 'special' hashtag but the outgoing message is not sent as [Special] because only Owners/Mods can send those. If a Member emails a reply and the Replies by Mods Only is checked, then they receive a failure notice with the message: I think this is slightly misleading as it implies that removal of the offending hashtag from the subject line means that the message would be accepted but as a hashtag is a topic property, removing the hashtag from the subject line of a reply message has no effect and results in the same rejection message.? I'll flag that on Beta to see if the wording can be revised. Regards Andy |

Re: Sharing responses to postings with entire group
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAnitaI may be in the minority and be misunderstanding but I'm confused as to what exactly you want to do.? ¡°share all responses to all posting with all members¡± sounds, to me, as if you want to ¡°repost¡± or somehow ¡°make available,¡± in one single action, ALL RESPONSES that have EVER been posted to EVERY Topic that had posted to your group. ? Is that what you mean? Or do you mean be able to direct members to ALL replies to ONE particular topic? ? Re: Sharing responses to postings with entire group
If members aren't getting messages sent to the group email address, you should check out your group settings in Admin. Check the Reply To settings. For information about it, see
/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/customizing-group-settings/message-policy-settings Members can be encouraged to adjust their subscription ?- See Member Help,?/helpcenter/membersmanual/1/controlling-your-email-subscription-preferences Some members may prefer digest or even just get the first message in any thread and then just follow the thread by choose that. Re: Sharing responses to postings with entire group
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAnita, ? From what I can see and know, all anyone in your group has to do to ¡®share all postings with all members¡¯ is to have the members send a post to your address <[email protected]> . That will put any post into ¡®Messages¡¯, and then anyone authorized to see the messages would have all of them visible. Am I missing something here? ? It appears you have all messages moderated, all group members moderated and subscriptions monitored. Ergo, no one should be able to ¡®get in¡¯ without being approved; no message should ¡®post¡¯ without being approved by a moderator; no member should be able to read anything without the pre-approvals (moderators clearing all aspects) first. But, once they are part of the group, and the message is posted¡it should be fully available to all who are authorized. ? @JS
>>>I think if your reply via the web interface, rather than your email program<<< My experience is that once the OM is posted, the checkbox is no longer available for follow up messages posted by the Mod.? @BB It appears that the only diffs/a SM is that the prefix [Special] is appended to the email Subject (but is scrubbed from and does not appear on the web UI Topic. ? I see benefit to having that #tag since it seems that it should persist in the Topic text.? I wonder if a SM could be sent via email (as either an original Topic or a follow-up post) if the [prefix] is included in the Subject line??? |
Re: Members who have not reverified (still RI status) removal update
@BB. ?Understood! Thx.?
@SS Not really a problem for me but I wondered if Gio might benefit from cleaning up those who are Bounced. ? Kinda like mis matched pairs in MY drawer that are of little value to keep taking up space. ?Keeping them, hoping that the dryer eats another of the same type/color seems a long stretch. ? Being an engineer I lean toward (although not anally) neat and tidy over loosey goosey.? What color and size are they - perhaps we can start a hardly used sock collection? |
Re: Not understanding ¡°Special Notice¡±
I think if your reply via the web interface, rather than your email program, you can set the reply to be "Special Notice." Another way to do this could be with a hashtag that is set to "Special Notice" and that is only usable by owners/moderators. I have found that when I use a hashtag like this that when non-owner/moderators reply it is sent, but not as a special notice. However, if I reply using my email program it does get marked as special.

I own a group (Brain Exchange) and I'm frequently? asked if there's a way to share all responses to all posting with all members.
Can this be done.? I'm reluctant to do it because it seems to me that it would result in information overload, but it seems to be what the members want. Is there a way to have responses available, but not forced onto the pages? thank you Anita Goldstein |

Members whose email addresses are?bouncing may still be reading messages on the website. And what does it matter if you have members who no longer read messages at all?? How is that a problem for the group?? I have some socks in my sock drawer that I have not worn in years.? Not a problem.? Some day, I might want to put them on.
